Man that area looked beautiful, train looked great especially for its age. I find it incredible that the alps has service from Eurostar and Thalys, very impressive
Europeans love skiing. That’s why you have all those trains to all the major capitals. It’s a wonderful train journey I took it ones years ago all the way from Amsterdam
In the wintertime Aime station can be referred to as the Gare-du-Nord on the ice! I'm impressed how many international trains this little station handles. The scenery is beautiful and eye-catching, indeed: the Alps plus a wide selection of high-speed trains. I love the Thalys livery but the TGVs looks smart too.
I grab the train(S100 Alicante-Madrid) every weekend, as I work there, and k find your videos very interesting to see how big the variety of trains is, and the stations as well. Thanks!
Greetings from germany, I really like your channel. That's awesome how this small village station turns into an international railhub in winter. BTW you should try the Frecciarossa 1000 Executive Class one day. I've been with almost every highspeed train in europe and believe me, that's the best by far.
6:08 - you’re lucky the bar was almost empty. On the Eurostar ski train, the bar is full of drunk skiers 😂 If I take the train for skiing in France from Britain, I think I’ll change at Paris rather than get a direct Eurostar. I’d love to try Le Train Bleu at the Gare de Lyon!
Wow, I so love your train reports especially the ones in France with SNCF trains. I plan to visit Nice again next and hope to make a trip from there to Paris!!!
I mean I'd assume there still are local trains which go both ways and which the TGV's have to have their time tables fitted around. Plus I'd assume there still would be some outgoing departures in the morning as well.
One can go further into eastern Europe and be part of that growing market if Ukraine is in turmoils it's because there's something to work with some countries are like that they must equilibrium with a leader who understands the challenges that comes with it
Salut !
Can someone please explain this to me: are there different companies with the same train? Is sncf the manufacturer or a rail operator? Where does thalys and tgv operate? When the companies have the same train do they operate in different parts? This high speed rail is do freaking confusing...bc thalys goes to amsterdam, nederlandse spoorwegen etc. Are they different train companies linked together to do different services? I need all those questions answered lmao 😂😂 Or is it like the airline industry in Europe how different airlines have same planes? Is it like that?? And then they have many destinations??? Yeesh.
Irritated Camel / Roblox Stuff It’s true that different train operators can use the same types of train. High speed rail operators in France, Spain and South Korea use Alstom’s TGV locomotive. Other high speed rail operators in Germany, Russia, Turkey and China use the Siemens Velaro. Eurostar uses both the TGV and the velaro SNCF is a rail operator TGV operates mostly in France but runs some trains to Belgium Thalys operates in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany Different countries have different power outputs and the locomotives have to be configured for the power specifications. For example, Eurostar can only use the Siemens velaro and not the Alstom TGV in Holland. A different type of TGV is needed which Thalys use for trains in Holland Thalys and SNCF are different companies. However SNCF do own a lot of shares in Thalys and Eurostar. Deutsche Bahn also owns a few shares in Thalys
So... In France SNCF is the National train operator. They run different services as follows: TGV/TGV INOUI: High speed rail transport OUIGO: Low cost high speed intercity INTERCITÉS: Classic non high speed IC TER: Regional/city 2 city Thalys, Eurostar and Thellō amongst others are private operators which operate trains under the same name to 🇳🇱/🇩🇪/🇧🇪, 🇬🇧 and 🇮🇹 respectively.
Hey, so I'm planning to take tgv from roissy en france to lille. The problem is, I'm gonna bring 2 large suitcases with me, since I'll stay in lille for more than a year as a student. Any tips about how to store it in luggage area at tgv? Since from your video it seems the space to store luggage in tgv is small
Hum, there is not a lot of tips for luggage, it depends on the type of rolling stock if it's a double deck (Duplex) check in the middle of the carriage, between two seats there is often some space :) If it's a single deck (Réseau), you can store big luggage above you seat :)
Sympa tes reportages, par contre prends le temps! Toutes tes transitions sont megas rapides, des fois pas le temps de lire ou de regarder ce que tu filmes.
Excellent question :) It's simple. When I recorded this video that was the beginning of school holidays. So not many people come back from Alps to their home. But I've talked with the crew and they did the Lille to Bourg Saint Maurice journey and the train was full as f***. The other reason is, their is a previous train to Lille 50 min prior my train so many people want to take the first one to come back earlier :)
Simply Railway Oh, that's great then! It's just that the sight of empty trains haunts me! I am somehow paranoid about this as America lost most of it's passenger network because nobody, apparently, wanted to ride the rails! By the way, I am an Indian, residing in India. Express trains get fully reserved here 2 - 3 months in advance (especially AC trains).
@@thetechnocrat4979 Yes that a sad story for America... but I'm sure rail will have his revenge against car, the ecological aspect of the train will win against car. Politics made the car popular and essential in US not the train
Simply Railway Yes, the so called ' American Dream '! Also, companies like GM destroyed many Tram systems in many American cities. Even today, dumb NIMBYs are fighting tooth & nail against HSR and other Rail Transport systems. Crafty politicians then use these idiot ' anti train ' people to forward their own agendas. What America needs now is a robust passenger train system which is very well integrated with other modes of transit. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to happen. Even worse, many Indians too are becoming ' anti Railways ' just because they are enamoured by the USA and all her ways. I hope that India & European nations never go down the way of the USA! We shouldn't abandon our Railways. They are the spine of our economy. But one thing is sure, America still has the World's best Freight Railways.
@@thetechnocrat4979 You're right and that's sad... France start to do this, abandon little lines and just focus on big line... That sad, more and more people start to take their cars because train services is inefficient.... Thank god many other country like Switzerland don't do this
This is not a sticker. The tgvs were never really pretty anyway. Iconic but not pretty. The ICE were very good design. Simple, white, black windows. But they have a stupid network so the trains can’t go fast all the time
Wtf ? no way dude, TGV are sick, take a look at the original TGV Reseau or TGV POS or even the Duplex, they look awesome. I agree that ICE are nice looking. but come on. I'll start a poll lol
Way to short report for this long journey, no idea where this train stopped, i've seen more toilet footage then outside footage. shame.. this could have been a better report.
