I just finished rehearsal with OPERA San Antonio and Classical Music Institute today and turned in the piano/vocal score and parts for my 12th opera Pompadour Porcelain with Landlocked Opera (all while continuing to prep the three shows I’m doing with Opera North). Now, I’m getting to work on a very special song cycle.
I’ve been working on the music and text for this work for over 2 years. It’s been called various titles at various points in its development. First, it started off with the title “27”, and then last year I changed it to “Kindling Courage”. I’ve now settled on a new title for the work, but I am keeping it to myself until I put the double bar on it.
I’m setting one of my favorite lyrics I’ve written for it as I speak (or type this post), so I thought I would share it as my part of my writing process with you all.
