Siskel and Ebert rarely devoted this much time to one film in their shows - most of their reviews were only 2 to 4 minutes. At the time this film seemed to merit it because it seemed a refreshing approach to documentary form, but Siskel does astutely point out some of the problems of the approach which I think, in retrospect, are in fact problematic and make it a little cheesy today. At the time I liked it lot and felt it was an immersive approach to Elvis'' life.
