Quite a bunch of Dario Argento references in this game. I don't know if you've seen any of his movies (though only the 70s and 80s ones were good IMO), but here are the most obvious influences: Phenomena: Notice how Jennifer looks a lot like a young Jennifer Connolly who plays the main character in this movie. I don't wanna spoil the ending, but if you've seen it and know who the killer is in that movie, then you see the connection there. Deep Red (AKA Profondo Rosso): Corpse hidden in a walled off room. It also has an attacking doll. Opera (AKA Terror at the Opera): Uncaged ravens attacking killer. (Though in the game it's a crow.) Suspiria: Maybe a bit of a stretch, but murals and hidden passages. Various Argento movies (don't wanna spoil which ones): Mother and son both being killers. Plus kick-ass soundtracks. BTW, I never used the rope myself and always wondered what it's for, but then I saw a run where the player used it on the 2F board that bridges the gap in the floor to climb down. It was the First Fear port on PS1, but the rope exists in the SNES version already, so it should work, right?
FYI you got the F ending on the 2nd run because you forgot to go to the Religious Study (the room with the bookshelves and mural) and read the books on the desk to learn how to kill Scissorman (you MUST do this to get the A ending if you got locked up in the shed with Simon Barrows, because Lotte will die there instead of in the Caves where she would tell you how to kill Scissorman before she dies). Also, during your actual B ending run, since you already went into the Religious Study to learn how to kill Scissorman, talking to the dying Lotte in the caves is unnecessary, so you can just skip her. As well as freeing the crow as it's only required for the S and A endings.
@N M the better question is, why wouldnt she grab the gun when she bonked the witch? i mean, even if the demon couldnt be killed, she could just shoot her instead.
@nannaogashawarma5553 Technically, you can soft lock it if you don't get the ham and then end up in the cell with Simon Because the game auto saves on the SNES every time you enter a room, if you end up locked in the cell without the ham the game will just respawn you in the cell each time you die meaning you have to reset the game because it is physically impossible to escape the cell without giving the ham to Simon
