0:14 This is how you know that this port of Prince of Persia 2 will be a bad time. Seriously, the SNES port of the first game was better. It also added more music and time, because it was more challenging.
Speak for yourself. That does not inherently mean "that this port of Prince of Persia 2 will be a bad time." In my experience, Titus may not have have the most amazing track record, but they out plenty of good games, so don't act like everyone is you.
@@imfsresidentotaku9699 Nah, that fox should have stayed in Marrakesh. I remember being so frustated with that game back in the day and then i found out it was imposible to beat due to bugs.
This is so much worse than the first one for the SNES. The PC version was alright, although still worse and less charming than the original. Edit: It doesn't even appear to be complete. What the hell?
There's an unreleased port of this for the Sega Genesis & when you apply a patch that was made for it not too long ago that fixes the audio & other bugs. That port then turns to a pretty solid game.
I remember playing this year's ago and thinking my game was glitching when I heard the music that starts playing when you get to lvl 3 and I reset my system 😆 but as bad as it is, I have to admit it kinda does at an erie dark tone to it. Similar to how the soundtrack in equinox was
Very confused... when did the prince defeat the vizier? He just runs left, fights some guards, jumps across to where the flame is, jumps back, runs right, and goes up some stairs... the end. wat.
Yeah exactly my reaction... I wonder if the game crashes if you get to the altar with the flame when you touch it? Also WoLP didn't even shed body to shadow mode.. .I always loved messing with the Birdmen when in Shadow mode... they'd be all like WTF?! lmao. I wonder if that's even intact in this crap SNES port....
@@ShiggitayMediaProductions actually, this is a known glitch that occurs even with the better ports of the game. You can touch the thing holding the flame and jump right back and the door you need will be open, without you needing to actually get the flame at all. Possible the player here missed the puzzle or just didn't feel like sitting through it.
I concur with everyone.. This port is damn broken. WTH is with the Birdmen in the Temple levels not getting freakin' SLICED By those wall knife traps? Also what the hell is with them just falling off the face of the Earth when defeated? So weird. Levels 1-9 were somewhat faithful to the PC/Mac release before it, but after that it was weird as hell... I understand that the SNES at the time was way less powerful than a PC, but this port is super bad and I can see why it was unfinished... That's NOT the ending of the game.... Where was the Shadow and the Flame action? Blah.. I'll stop ranting now... Great playthrough of this crappy awful port.
Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame (SNES 1993 Longplay HD) - 0:00/45:23 Language: English USA 🇱🇷 Narrator: Using the power of the flame the Prince defeated the evil Vizier. WOW, not only is this harder because it's going at double speed so combat is just a mess, it having to fade for each image change, stuff like drinking and sounds playing incorrectly, the music sounding like it's drunk, not even being dynamic so no changes doing combat or key rooms. This port is a hell of a mess, but I think you for playing all of it so people can see how much of a mess it is!
Yep. 50 / 60 = 0.83. If you go to the RU-vid player settings and set the playback speed to 0.75 (which is quite close to 0.83), the speed feels correct. It could be that their intention was to speed up the game to make it a better fit for the fast-paced SNES world, but it just ruins the game.
@@jonskunator I played the PAL version of this, it was still really fast. I must say that I like the visual changes though, and the animation flows better at this speed. But combat and precise jumps get way harder, not to mention the bugs lol. I never got further than the second dungeon stage at whatever age I was at when I did play it, because I couldn't read and didn't understand the password system
1:48 "Hey wait for me-- aaaa..." :D 3:14 "Hey this looks famil-- it's the same fuging boring-ass indoors from the last game gewddimmit" 27:32 "It's SKEWERING TIME! Or not. It's whatever the game feels like, I guess." 42:46 "Oh hi, handsome. *blinks eyes* "
Seems like i was the only person in the planet did really and genuinely enjoyed this port ( i didnt see it with nostalgic eyes, i recently played again and god, i really love the port) and yes, i know the pc version and other have the content this version cut (and i dont know why, the thirteen level in the snes version feels incomplete with the last part, i know) but unfortunely, i love this version.
Titus, for god sake freaking Titus... why did you screw up every game title falling onto your hands ? When a company fails, common sense is either to seriously work to get better, either go to something else.
Always thought the original and this had kinda clunky controls. That said, the art looks pretty neat and it feels like it was probably an inspiration for Sands of Time etc
Only good thing about this is graphical changes...it's a complete downgrade gameplay wise...the weaker platforms fall instantly without giving the player any chance to make a safe move....and why is it running at 2x speed?...I can imagine the nightmare fighting those ghost heads and figuring out when they're gonna attack.
