SNES Mortal Kombat 2 on a CRT for that true Super Nintendo experience! 

Unfortunately I didn’t realize N64 and SNES use the same AVI cord to connect to the TV so while this is only hooked up to the TV with a coaxial cable the picture could’ve been more clear using the AVI cord instead. My bad.

ahhh reminds me of the days I would rent this from blockbuster with my best friend then huddle next to the CRT. None of us were good enough to beat it but the 1p VS 2p was amazing. Heated battles of 10 year olds

I got my snes back on 93, it was in the attic for more than 8 years, when I found it all my games from childhood were still there and working fina after a lil blow. I have all the super Mario’s, DK1, DK2,DK3,but my favorites are MK1, MK2, MK3, Killer instinct (I remember it came with a cd with the sound track). I was raised Catholic, and I remember the first time I played Mortal Kombat back in 1993 it was after going to my first communion. It became mandatory stop at the arcades and playing after being blessed with the Holy Spirit 🤣. I have really good childhood memories playing Mortal Kombat with my cousins and friends, I miss the old game consoles that didn’t need to be updated and unlockable characters without paying for DLC. I’m typing this as I hear you speaking, and I can relate to everything you say. I love your video ❤ I feel a lil bit of nostalgia bow 🙇‍♂️

CRT TV is more classic to play snes on

CRT has no input lag like modern displays. Definitely the best way to play fighters.

I remember playing this while my Dad was in the other room years ago. I was using Johnny Cage against Liu Kang, and hit him with the punch to the balls. He heard it, came to see what I was playing, saw me do it again, and laughed so hard at it. 😂

I love playing games on a CRT. I use those HD Retrovision component cables to get some great picture quality.

I remember these days when I was in the arcades playing Mortal Kombat 2 or just in my house playing the Snes & the Genesis Version of these games. It's just a lot better to play these games in your house for free rather than spending $20 a day or more just to beat it in the arcades.

Back when it was first released, I played the SNES version of MK2 at a friends house and even though I knew it wasn’t just like the coin-op version, I was blown away. I, myself, had a Genesis. Later that week, I got my parents to get me the Genesis version. The whole ride back home, in my mind I’m thinking it was gonna be like the SNES version or just as good. I got home and powered it up…and was sorta disappointed at the colors on the character select screen - mainly at how washed out Scorpion looked. But once that first battle started, that sealed it. The port was horrible. Missing sounds, animations, etc…it just sucked.

Hello there Darryl! I just wanted to let you know that you and a few other RU-vidrs have made me get into retro game collecting as a casual hobby. Every time I watch one of your CRT videos I feel cozy and it hits me with a wave of nostalgia. Thank you for that! My first retro console that I have picked up recently is the PS2 (my favorite retro console of all time) with some PS2 games. I'm currently looking for all the 3D MK games for it for a good price. I didn't have much of a true hobby other than taking care of my dogs and playing strategy and some fighting games on PC but I now have a real hobby. Also, I'm currently looking for a CRT for myself. I'm not looking for a massive and heavy one. I'm looking for one on the smaller scale. What size do you recommend, 13" or 20"? Thanks again for getting me into the hobby and thanks for the awesome videos!

Hey brother I love to see the versions u grew up with playing the crap out of them....I do bet you were a proud boy just to have this in your home. I remember having the megadrive versions even for we were poor I felt like a king to have them in our home....showing off these games to my friends were amazing. I use to read a lot of the arcade story's so that when you play in the Arcades not only to feel the game but the hole mortal kombat story came to life....yea they bug it up a bit on the last versions story wise and were really getting silly with it but hey those were the golden mortal kombat years...Keep it up brother..👊

I have been absolutely impressed with MK2 since it was released in 1994. I first played it on Sega at a friends house and I was excited because you could play as Reptile. It was cool to play. But once I got mine on SNES, i was blown away. Looking back, I wish they did a better job on the sprites. It would have been perfect.

I always found the sound big and bold coming from my SNES on my old crt. Hardware nerds are annoying, but it's true that emulators aren't as good as the og hardware.

It's funny, for years, I wondered why they put the names below the life bars in 2 and 3 on SNES, but my theory in later years was that it would subconsciously make the fighters look less shrunken down for the port, lol.

Regarding Kintaro being harder on SNES vs the arcade, I don't think that is true - at least when playing on a real arcade machine. I've been investigating the AI in MK2, specifically comparing the original arcade hardware to MAME emulation and noticed a discrepancy in Kintaro's behaviour. On OG hardware, Kintaro effectively blocks jump kicks for most of the round, except for the first few attempts. In MAME, if Kintaro doesn't open with a fireball attack, jump kicks can successfully land when he attempts an uppercut.

Old tube TVs are ridiculously better for gaming on ATARI/NES/SNES/GENESIS/SATURN/PSX/N64/PS2/XBOX/DREAMCAST and I'm not sure it's good for PS3 too.

I noticed one thing maybe you guys can help me. There are some snes versions that show the sculptured software (with the rid line slowly drawn) and some don't? Does anyone know why? The snes on my pal version shows it. My NTSC version doesn't.

The way I beat kintaro on the snes was I stayed at the far right side of the screen and waited for him to jump on me the after he gets of me I spam low punch on him until he dies he doesn't block it and he just stays there taking them but it doesn't work all the time

The best game since 1994. Way better than UMK3. They should've included everyone on vanilla MK3. UMK3 was lamer than MK3 I'd rather play mk2 just because it's similar to the original mortal kombat game.

Blowing on a cartridge doesn't do anything for it besides expose moisture to an electronic device. People think after they blew on it that would be why it started working. It's the action of reinserting the cartridge which lightly scrapes connections allowing it to connect. NES was even worse with it's moving part damaging the connections on top of junk buildup on the connections.
