Tom Berenger is a household name. Sniper is a great movie, Berenger was the perfect choice for the lead. And indeed, The Substitute is another top film.

Berenger's worked with some of the most talented directors of all time including Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, Wolfgang Petersen, Oliver Stone, Phillip Noyce and Antoine Fuqua, he was incredibly badass in The Substitute, Sniper, Last of the Dogmen and Shoot to Kill and also gave wonderful performances that were particularly rich in gravitas in Platoon, Someone to Watch Over Me, Shattered, Inception and Betrayed.

I've seen so many of the "Best Movie you Never Saw" movies, I'm really old and have been watching movies since the early 1970's. I've worked in video stores, I've worked in video production. One of my favorite Tom Berenger films "Last of the Dogmen" (I believe it's an HBO film). Is a classic that I'm not sure was ever widely distributed. Barbara Hershey co-stars. Beautifully shot, Berenger and Hershey work well together. It's worth a "Best Movie You Never Saw".

This is one of my favorite early 90s action flicks. If I remember correctly, Tri-Star/Sony put a 30 seconds TV spot during the Super Bowl of that year! Of course, this was before film spot during the Super Bowl became a trend.

What's interesting about this movie is that it has some decently accurate moments regarding sniping. Some obvious, some subtle ... noticed only by those are/were snipers, precision shooters, or hunters. It's well written, beautifully shot, and you can mentally follow the characters through the movies. Meaning you have a sense of where they are and what they're doing pretty much the entire time. Something that's been lost in most action movies these days. Being able to keep a mental picture of who is doing what and where, allows for a better immersion and understanding of the stakes.

The scene when Berenger shot the other sniper and the round went through the enemy snipers scope...Well,legendary sniper Carlos Hathcock actually did do that in the Vietnam war and that scene was based on that.

This was my favorite movie growing up. Every day after school for a full year I'd walk home via the video store, rent this film, grab a chocolate milk, and watch it before dinner. Must have spent enough on rentals to own the VHS a hundred times over. Looking back it's so silly and innacurate but I still love it. Never bothered with the sequels. There is only one!

First title I saw in this series was Remo William's and that had to be more than a decade ago. It was always a childhood favorite and everything that pops up in this series is a title I tend to be fond of, but I guess that is the point. To remind most and educate a few. Sniper is another childhood classic. I recently bough the set on Vudu, however, I think it was just the first six, I'll have t add the remaining titles to my wish-list and thanks for pointing out that the Segal title is not affiliated, I might have fallen for that as sequels tend to go off the rails. TB is a reliable actor, don't forget his small but pivotal role in Training Day. I also really like Betrayed, He's a believable Trump Supporter and D Winger also impresses. B Zane does turn in a solid performance and the movie sticks the landing much like Marky is Shooter. I recommend this movie. .

Like "Sniper " is a sweet action movie ,from the early nineties .In which two badass snipers go into the jungle ,where one has a grudge .And the other gets to babysit ,then all hell breaks lose .Then we to see who the better sniper gong up against ,one a ex CIA goon .and Drug lord in the jungle .But one my favourite parts in the beginning ,where Berenger takes down the General in the hills .And like "Shattered" was a awesome movie .

Hahaha 😂 While it is a fantastic film from the era, I can’t help but laugh at how ridiculous some of it is… For the record, the senior individual in a two man sniper team is the spotter, NOT the sniper! The trigger puller does pretty much exactly that, they shoot. The spotter is in charge of comms, navigation, security, computations, etc. That’s why it’s hilarious to not only see a “civilian” on a covert, state sponsored assassination, but t have them running the show as well.
