There are no books to log, but I'm still talking about my current read, which isn't as fun as I had expected. Did I grow as a reader in the past year? Probably. I'm sharing my new stuff (and as I film these videos every week, I'm noticing that I'm getting quite a lot of stuff all the time). Among the new stuff, I received four pens on loan. I had a mold issue with one of my ink bottles, then purchased supplies to make pen flush, I tell you all this while putting together the pens I cleaned last night. And finally, I am rehashing this past week but only taking notes for my journal. LOL.

In terms of keeping bottles clean: I pour from a new bottle into a sample vial and try to open my bottles as little as possible (they are 100 mL BPC bottles so I expect to have them my whole lifetime 😅)

I think I remember you mentioned that you decant into a vial but it makes sense to me now. Thanks! I'll start doing that with new bottles.

I pull the ink out of the bottle with a clean syringe and put it in a vial or miser to fill. This way I am not "pushing" contaminants into the bottle as would be done when twisting a converter to get complete fill.

I love the water lily koi and primary manipulation pens! I just love the swirls and variation of color in the resins. Sometimes I really feel more compelled to spend more money on a custom pen because someone actually made them versus spending $300 on a platinum pen. I have purchased 5 custom pens so far and I always sit and admire them before I start writing with them. I was looking at one with orange in it and normally I'm not an orange person. But I guess it's a summer color. I hope you get one you love at the SF penshow.

Also, I bought a pen from Bonecrusher 7 (not this color, but Primary Manipulation 4 - Hope I get it and it’s not out of stock!) based on seeing the one in your video, I was confident knowing it’s got the same Jowo #6 nib as my Esties which I love. Thanks, love watching your videos like this one especially, as I learn so much. ❤

Also I agree with you on the screw on caps to post. I love my twsbi mini's, they are a great size for me, weight and they write so nicely (especially their stub nibs imo of course lol). But it's amazing how having to do that twist motion over and over gets to you if you do it a lot in one sitting while journaling. Maybe the 590's will have a cap and seal like the Pilot Prera's haha, that would be amazing!

It's not the norm. Just keep doing what you are doing - and be mindful of the contamination aspect. That should be good.

Earlier this week, I wanted to put the last of the Sailor Shirakashi sample I had in a pen, and it had turned into a goopy blob. That was the first time I ever had an ink go bad since I started using fountain pens forty years ago. I just threw it out and washed the vial with *a lot* of dishwashing liquid.

I can’t remember if you finished reading Amor Towles’ A Gentleman in Moscow, but when I saw your Lincoln Highway postcard, if his novel by that name is anywhere near your TBR, YES! YES! But maybe read his Rules of Civility first.

I’m considering a waterman carene- I hope you do share your thoughts and possibly compare it to the Pilot E95s..I like Pilot but hate the converter. Is there a gold or steel nib on the Carene ….

I don't have the E95s any longer. I like the Carene better. It is a litter wider and I like the nib better.
