I love the pure joy in Kate's eyes when people break near her. The way she initiates contact to really get them off track is brutal but hilarious. Did it to Larry David and Leslie Jones.
Yes she’s such a pro she like never breaks but will totally acknowledge others breaking with subtle looks and keep right on doing the dam but perfect Side note idk why but want her to try more scenes with Pete Davidson
@@tmghn1 John Mulaney wrote Stephon and wouldn't tell Bill the punchlines before the show, so doing it live was the first time he was reading the cards lol
@@CharlesXavier8 It’s truly amazing how standards have changed, isn’t it? I’m only in my mid-40s, but I remember in the Dana Carvey days that if an actor broke character every once in a while, it was funny. This is 6 MINUTES STRAIGHT. And these aren’t bad actors. Bill Hader was terrific on Curb Your Enthusiasm in 3 different roles that’d make Peter Sellers or Eddie Murphy proud. It’s not the actors. It’s the audience.
I don’t know what’s funnier: when only one person in the scene breaks and everyone else keeps a completely straight face, or when literally EVERYONE in the scene is just breaking down laughing
fun fact about bill’s “new york hottest club” character- most of those lines he didn’t know until thr performance. he was reading them for the first time on air !
Actually John made it clear that he would only change one or two lines from the script and he would TELL bill what they were right before he went on stage
Even people who rarely/never breaks themselves usually get derailed when someone else in the scene breaks so completely. Vanessa Bayer around 3:30 is just insane.
She is one of the best SNL castmembers ever. She never really broke character, I can remember only one time in an Californian episode she cracked a bit, but that’s it. I would love to see her in a really good drama, I think she has it in her.
Bill Hader as Stefan was not shown his lines until he read them from the cue cards. That's why he cracks up almost every time when he does Stefan as he has no idea what he will be saying.
By "angel" you mean meth head and by "wings" you mean a soggy paper bag filled with ketchup packets, used baby wipes, and a cigarette pack stuffed with pennies.
The other one who could never stay in character was Jimmy Fallon. Watching him in scenes with Will Ferrell was hilarious because Will would rarely - if ever - break character and that just made Jimmy cracking up that much more funny.
Many have cracked up during scenes on SNL, but none have completely lost it like Bill Hader. The shaking shoulders, the eyes squeezed shut and pouring tears, the mouth full of teeth. It was a sight to behold.
@@ethanweeter2732 Cecily is my personal fave cast member, and I try to find her breaks. She has broken more than once-briefly during the alien abduction sketch, during the costume change snafu, and during her reality TV skit with Will Ferrell are probably the best examples.
Here's who should host the next SNL episodes: the cast of Modern Family, the cast of Schitt's Creek, the cast of Friends, the cast of Superstore, and the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I couldn't decide (nor could I remember their names) each actor from the shows because there all hilarious.
the cast of alf the cast of castaway the cast of cast the cast of dance moms the cast of the crown the cast of king of queens the cast of jersey shore the cast of murphy’s law the cast of hamilton the cast of madea’s family reunion
The Stefan skits are some of my absolute faves. So hysterical. Dan Cortez 🤣🤣. Bill Hader kills me. And the alien encounter ones with Ryan Gosling and Kate. Omg so dead
I love when they break character! It was my favorite part of the Carol Burnett Show! I used to wait for Tim Conway to make somebody crack up! It's the best! 😂
SNL is all all that has kept me sane through these last years of insanity in this country they can make me laugh and forget all about it for a a while. Bless you guys
I remember trying to eat dinner with my family while my parents insisted we watch TV watching The Carol Burnett show. There was A LOT of drinks blowing out noses on those nights!!! OMG. Good times!
In It Chapter 2 Bill breaks character so many times in the Chinese restaurant he ad libbed a lot in that scene too. That whole scene is my favorite of the movie. That and the Bill and Richie 3 closet scene. I love seeing them break character, it shows they love their job and it makes the scene so much better. My favorite was Adam Driver as the old man.
I always laugh at inappropriate times or when nervous, like in church or especially the principals office growing up. Or when someone tells me something and im supposed to be sad. I could never last on SNL.
The absolute best one of people breaking character on SNL is when Lindsay Lohan hosted and they did the Debbie downer skit at Disney World. Literally everyone broke. I die laughing everytime I watch that 🤣🤣🤣
"I can't friggin breath" laughing so hard. !!! I need to watch this daily to remind me that "NOTHING CAN BRING US MORE JOY THAN THE RIDICULOUS" !!! These performers are absolutely brilliant and I love this sooooooo much !!!! Thanks SNL Troup.... unbearablely funny as hell !!! ( Gotta love Betty White beating the crap outta Bill Hader !!! Crackin them up in heaven now !!! ). 👍👍👍
Bill and Fred breaking each other, Kate just fucking killing everyone with her characters, and sweet beautiful Jimmy never being able to hold it together: I love the dynamics on stage
Respect to theater performers who can do all of this this without breaking characters. I saw a video of the Phantom of the Opera actor trying to throw a mannequin and it getting stuck on the chair. He kinda broke character but not really. That’s probably the closes thing they get to breaking character
