Haha, Time 05:35, getting a bottle of wine. Being a bus driver I took care of a foto bag containing a camera and all filming from their holiday. Did some research and got in contact with them and arranged for a meeting to hand the bag over. I got a full sized bottle of fine Scottish whisky! No testing when driving.... Dads tool... I've also got one but the cordless drill is used now days.
Like your comment with your dad's drill, I'm the same with some tools that were my grandad"s and dad's, a link to growing up in the workshop where both tools and knowledge were passed on.
Thanks John. Another great night cap. Hard to believe you're about to hit 500. If that drill chuck is like an Albrecht, it should have holes or slots around it for a spanner. They won't get very tight by hand.
Hi John, Seeing you use that hand drill and rotating the handle with the left hand reminds me of how I used to get ribbed for using it backwards like yourself. I did it that way because it felt natural being I am left handed. I take solice from the fact that all geniuses are left handed :)
Nice one, John. For that "wine cork remover" you'd go better by welding an M8 bolt onto the remains of a commercial "wine cork remover", and then using a slide hammer on it. Actually, I might make one of those, that could be fun.
I had a friend, now passed, who drove a semi-tank truck. He hauled WD-40 from Louisana to California while the CA plant was having problems. Bill said WD-40 is basically de-scented kerosene. I used to have a friend give me some of it back when it was a US Air Force secret cleaner of guided missile parts.
For the wine: What if you machined some round stock with a cork clearence hole most of the way through, and at the other end, a clerence hole for your screw?
