There's a bait shop on the way out to Fort Desoto but I do not believe the bait shop sells live bait. I believe it's more of a souvenir shop from people coming back from Egmont key.
Nooooo!! I lost a good size trout on the prop when it was out of gear and the tide was movin. Wasn't as big as that though!! Look forward to fishin with ya someday man! I need to learn all I can.
Done deal! Checked out the beach vid again. I had watched it before after all. Never fished while in the water. Seems a lot more natural. Just be hard to see being so short. We'll make it work though. May even need to purchase a rinky dink reel from ya!
the best bait for out there is a finger mullet around the 9 inch range small lady fish large thread fins or greenbacks I only use blue runner's if I can't catch anything else that's what I use if I'm fishing for the Snook the other Pier is just before you get to the large Pier on the left hand side as you come into the park
I agree on July or August, this is the very start of heavy migration for many species. Look for Spanish Mackerel, tarpon going around, pretty great on snook and snapper too.
When you describe spot specific places to fish and tell everybody to get out there and fish that spot, the next time you go, the fish will be hammered and you will be competing with about 20 people to fish that same spot, all due to your public bullhorn announcing the fishing in that spot. Your self fame you get out of it will keep you from being successful in that spot in the near future. I'm surprised that you haven't already been flamed for that from others. That's not my MO, but I just wanted to give you a heads up about it. In the fishing community, it's ok to give broad general areas you are fishing, but not spot specific. Otherwise, that spot will be trashed from every tom, dick and harry.
