Without watching the video, i want to say i like williams better. Since he doesn't care about winning as much as he does about potting the ball at hand. This gives him the balls to implement shots one would never venture into, for the sake of winning the frame or because of the importance of the moment etc. With williams, no such rules apply. He trusts his judgement and goes for it. Even while making a century, if it is 99, he will still take his chance. Most courageous player out there.
John and Mark came to my hometown in Australia and made about 15 centuries in 20 games. The were ranked over 50 in the world at the time. It made us all feel like spastics. Little did we know they'd become 2 of the top 4 in history. Little Neil Robertson was about 4yo at the time.
Suggestions: • Davis vs Hendry. 80s versus 90s • Alex Higgins vs Jimmy White. Who's the most entertaining player? • Selby vs Ebdon vs Dott. The art of defence • Lisowski vs Yan. The Star of future • Trump vs Robertson. The break-building legends • O'Sullivan vs Higgins. Who was better in big matches? • Williams vs left-handed O'Sullivan. Best left-handed players Amazing video as always! Musa from Uralsk, Kazakhstan ❤️
Prime Hendry beats Prmie Davis easy. Old Davis vs old Hendry. Old Davis wins. Hendry’s break building revolutionised the game before his cue was broken and later stolen.
@@Andy-Bodhi Higgins has reached 3 consecutive WC finals but lost all of them. Mark has reached the final once and won it, against John. I know which of those 2 scenarios I would prefer.
John Higgins is one of the best match players, and is very underrated as a long potter, but Mark Williams' best shots are from another planet. Hello from Tyneham in Dorset by the way. ;)
Mark Williams best shot in the whole history of snooker has to be that blind green, beating even the late great Alex Higgins maybe, with his potting, while rolling the cue ball along the top of the cushion. Ok MW was a fluke and AH is one, if not THE reason snooker was made so popular. You just have to admire the skill. Thanks m8
Bakvattnet, Sweden here! I think John Higgins is the more skilled player in that he makes it more easy for himself. Mark Williams are, in my opinion, better at hard and creative shots simply because he tend to need them more often. That is also what makes Williams more entertaining to me. He's a bit more flamboyant and seem more interested in making the pot than winning the frame.
Higgins as far composure and silver wear goes is top. But Mark Williams sees the game completely differently than anyone else and these shots prove it.
I don't get how people can say marks green was a fluke. A fluke is a shot that wasn't Intentional. He fully tried to hit the green and went for it. Sure there was a small chance of the ball going in but that was his intention man. One of the best shots I've seen
Higgens may have had a better twilight of his career, but Williams has been far more consistent overall in my humble opinion. One more great recreation video. Cheers from Saskatoon, Canada, mate.
John Higgins Cross double against Judd Trump was brilliant and if he had made the 147 it would have been his careers masterpiece. Williams is a great player who shows us other ways to think but his wild attempts seem to come off more by luck. Well done recreating these shots. Very impressive. alec from dundee in Scotland
I’ve grown up watching both these guys since my first memory of snooker being the 2003 world final between Williams and Doherty. There’s just something about Williams when he’s on the top of his game. As close to unbeatable as it gets when he clicks into that top gear, rare as it is.
Please do Ronnie vs Judd (or Judd vs Neil, or Neil vs Ronnie) next, you know you have to ;-) Another awesome video. For me when it comes to who is the more complete player - John wins this. But when it comes to composure and shot invention - Mark is clear.
Great video. I do think these videos are hard as I do think it’s some unintended biased decisions. Either way great video always my go to on a Saturday morning
Over the years I think Mark hasn't been quite as consistent but it's marginal and as crazy as it might sound both have slightly underachieved. John had the potential to destroy every record but once his children were born he lost some of the laser focus. Mark is an extraordinary player and a player I'm most often jealous of but if I had to bet my house on a player to win a match under any circumstances, I'd pick John; the best pressure player I've ever seen.
Great video, John by a country mile is the better player, how do you think Ray Reardon would have been in the more modern era, taking into account the better equipment, etc..... I know you have done a video on Ray, but another say against Ronnie????
Hey from Ayrshire, Scotland! Do you think you could attempt John Higgins' clearance in the final frame of the first session of the Northern Ireland Open Final (2021) to bring the scores level at the end of that session?
Audio sound levels and audio quality between narration and pieces to camera is really huge. Love the videos but this puts me off so much and I end up not watching most of what you post :(
Not sure got it from someone who had a whole warehouse of them stacked away. There’s so many abandoned clubs where I live you can pick them up pretty cheap like that
Can you do Selby vs Ebdon, for the slowest, dullest shots ever played. Perhaps selbys 6 minute shot against any one of the shots in Ebdon mythical 12 break
Same, I prefer Mark Williams playing style, more creative and more entertaining... I'm also the type that like to play weird unorthodox (carom, plants, that people rarely notice) shots lol (but of course, less consistent 😂)
Forgot the fact that Mark Williams has been playing with his eyes closed for several years now, due to his neck problem. This also explains his one handed shots when he actually needs to aim.
Good video but you are completely wrong on shot 2, one was a shot to nothing double the other was an extremely accurate shot for the world title that would have lost the frame if it didn't go in.
John is second in modern era only behind Ronnie. Hendry is 3rd due to lack of longevity. But Williams is the best potter out the 3 of them probably, just his positional play and cue power lets him down. Definitely top 5 of modern era. Judd is my 4th, btw.
I thought win over O'Sullivan got to Yan's head and was too careless in some shots against Higgins. Splitting reds like that against Higgins is a crime.
Yes,,, You cannot disrespect a guy of his calibre. He paid Dearly for that mistake,,Another lesson learnt...If Ronnie had not had too very small errors, both I might add being slightly out of position, mm only. It would have been very different.. I bad kiss can make or break a game. I know. Lol.
I think Mark is more flamboyant and better to watch.....but John is the better match player!!! Hence leading Selby 9-3 in final,Mark got thrashed last year!!!! But you could do a contest "Who was mote boring??? Selby v "Egdon ! "Seen paint dry more exciting,Better off watching Derby County, watching flys on a dog turd, being a train spotter!! Or worse still ..working at Tenko!!!! Feel free to add a few!!!! Lol
Of course there's luck playing in it, but calculated luck 🙂 I also play some weird shots like Mark Williams', it's calculated, but also need luck to play a part in it lol
The grandprix blue against John higgins in 2004 was way more difficult and amazing. Mark williams long potting from 1998 to 2007 was streaks ahead of anyone.
