Snorkeling with Blacktip Reef Sharks, Bimini Bahamas. 06/27/2023 - Virgin Voyages Shore Thing
Recently, my wife Jill and I had the pleasure of sailing on
Virgin Voyages, Scarlet Lady.
The ship, her Captain and crew were all Amazing!
I’ll have more videos in the future about Virgin Voyages and cruising on the Scarlet Lady.
The subject of this video is the Shore Thing (what Virgin Voyages calls excursions) Snorkeling with Sharks.
The day started out with Thunderstorms, gray skies and rain.
Although we were delayed about 30 minutes, the skies cleared and we moved forward with our Shore Thing!
The first part of the Shore Thing was actually snorkeling on the shipwreck, SS Sapona, Bimini’s Concrete Ship.
I had some issues with the strong current and didn’t have good video footage I could use so I didn’t include it in this video.
From the SS Sapona, we were taken to Triangle Rock,
a controlled environment where we could get in the water with Blacktip Reef Sharks and Nurse Sharks.
After some instruction from our crew, we each grabbed our GoPro cameras and jumped right in!
We didn’t see any Nurse Sharks on this trip but there were plenty of Blacktip Reef Sharks to keep us company underwater!
Given the environment we were in, it was an amazing experience to peacefully swim with these awesome animals!
The video is about 10 minutes long.
We actually spent around 30 minutes in the water with the sharks.
If you get the chance, I would highly recommend this Shore Thing!
