MrNightpwnwer, it was absolutely amazing. Bimini is one of the most laided back places in the world with some of the best people you will ever meet in your life. The food is amazing as well. Needless to say we all gain a few extra pounds for the crossing headed home
@@Amariellah hi, my trip was fantastic, it was an adventure and would definitely do it it again. Yes a passport is needed, have to go thru customs and immigration. I wanted to go back again this year but because of covid restrictions we decided to stay local. We went from Melbourne florida to Cape coral thru the saint Lucie cancel and lake Okeechobee...was really nice. I call these type of trips adventures, not vacation, because they can be a lot of work.
We always declare our gun and bullets since we started going in like 1994. Lately they have been coming to the boat to verify it, but that is about it.
It’s official we are heading back to Bimini. We will leave Port Everglades on or about July 31/Aug 1 and return on Aug 7/8. If you are interested in follow us let me know.
Thanks for your video, very informative. One question: how much traffic do you see during the first 20 miles of your journey? Isn’t that area one of the most congested areas for boats and ships? I’d think you’re never out of sight of boats/ships during this part of the journey.
It’s crowded for 1st 20 miles but really is not an issue. Plenty of spacing. If you leave a night you may want to have a radar but daylight hours should not be an issue. Hope that helps.
What a great video! many thanks, very informative as we are trying to learn enough to try our very first crossing. Would you recommend a site or share info as to boat sizes capable of making this trip ? I see from jetskis to 40 footers but cant find a good source of info about this topic. we have a rinker captiva 232 with a single 300 HP engine. thanks for any advice!
Thank you. I am not aware of a site that gives you that information. You can cross in any size boat as long as the weather is good enough for your size boat and what you are comfortable with. Personally I would not have an issue crossing in your boat. It’s a fantastic place and you will love it!!
Great video and thanks for doing this. You mention fishing license. If you come over on a boat and check-in that way, you pay the boat entry fee, $150 up to 28' I think it is, it includes fishing license for the boat up to 4 people.
Thank you very much for the information this is one of my dreams to do in the process of trying to get a world cat 2740 I live in Georgia ...Do you by chance know any boat groups I can join So when I do make the crossing it would be safer to go with other boaters for safety
kevin turpin it’s a great trip. We are planing a trip for July 18-25 this year. We do go other times but this is the main one. You can follow us on Facebook at Cape Romain marine. We make plans and announcements there I will be doing a class on what to pack and how to pack your boat once we get closer to the spring. Stay tuned
Goto my web site www.caperomainmarine.com and you will see a bimini tab. The docs you need will be there. Call me if you have any questions 843-887-3330 or 843-325-3333
I have a 1986 Grady White 228 Seafarer with a caddy cabin with a 2006 225 Evinrude only one motor I still would love to make this trip with my wife and son. I have been watching your video and that helps allot. Do you have any other ideas or anything else I should do please advise.
I have a 1989 Proline 24' with a 2003 Yamaha 250. I just had the motor completely rebuilt. I'm planning on leaving around July 15th. You can buddy up with me if you and your family wants to go. It would be nice to have a second boat going.
You mention making sure you have SeaTow when you go to Bimini. I have BoatUS for the same purpose. Does it matter which you have for Bimini? Or is it just important to have one of them?
I am pretty sure they go over that way. I would reach out to them and make sure. What you have to do is get towed out a mile of so for them to pick you up.
I have tried to download those for others and I was not able to do that. I would be glad to show on a chart if you would like that. You can call me at 843 887 3330 and we can work that out Thanks
Thnx for the great video! I plan on crossing this Sunday morning February 16th on a 33 footer... The wind is supposed to be about 16 mph E/SE Hopefully I'll be fine...
Isaac ash it will be on your nose or just off your nose crossing. It will be rough based on the forecast. You may want to look at Monday’s forecast. It’s looks a lot better but of course all this can change over the next few days.
Not sure why. Everyone else seems to be ok. I just checked it and I am at a lx game and can hear it over the crowd. If you have any questions please give me a call or email
