You booked a gentrified version of Cuba and that's what they delivered. I'm Puerto Rican and have been there twice, and you definitely would have gotten a better, more authentic experience outside the resort. Inside them they're only looking to appeal to your usual taste, while in the restaurants outside they serve authentic Cuban cuisine. If you go again, go with someone who either has gone before or who at least knows good Spanish so you can ask the locals about spots.
You make a good point, but you should know that most Canadians going on all-inclusive vacations to Cuba are not looking to experience the culture or enjoy the cuisine, necessarily... they just want a nice, warm tropical place to relax.
Nice vlog. Nice to see you two having fun and enjoying yourselves. What do you know, I've had Cuban Poutine lots of times. The 17a good time sushi seemed a bit sketchy, hope you're okay. Lol
Like the fire juggling cocktail guy at the end there - very artistic. I hope you're both using plenty of sunblock there - noticed you were looking a bit red as the day wore on ❤
Sancho G The beach and the Cuban people make up for it. Incredibly beautiful pristine beaches unspoiled by American tourists. That has to be worth something!!
Ken Domik I wouldn't necessarily called that a good deal then. I've always heard Cuba is cheap and the food is very subpar but 1100 is not cheap. You can pay a couple hundred more and have a much better resort in Jamaica or Mexico.
@@Ken_Domik I watched a lot of hotel videos in Cayo Santa Maria and your videos helped me choose which hotel to take. The Melia Las Dunas looked a lot like a hotel (Playa Pesquero - Holguin) that I loved.
Phil K Not true. There is virtually no crime at the resorts. If you go into a town or city like any in the USA you take your chances but pretty safe with a guide.
Croque (correct spelling) monsieur is a boiled ham and cheese sandwich which originef in French cafes and is very popular in Quebec. Add a fried egg and it becomes a croque madame. I would've afraid a "croc" monsieur would BITE me!
This place looks great, but if you didn’t leave the resort you really didn’t get the Cuban experience.. the people and food in Havana are in unbelievably great
You are in Cuba, but you haven't eaten any Cuban food yet. That seems odd. Especially from a food reviewer. If I was in Cuba I wouldn't expect pizza or sushi to be any good.
RobotPorter As the other comment told you they do not serve Cuban food at the majority of the resorts. You have to go into a local town or market to find authentic Cuban food. This is actually a very helpful video for those who are traveling to Cuba for the first time. NO-ONE and I mean NO-ONE goes to Cuba for the food.
