This brings back some memories for me. The clip where your standing by shaw street next to the everton tower (aka ruperts castle). Looking over towards the 2 large georgian period houses, i think they have something to do with homeless community. Anyway back on a YTS scheme working for Wimpey training, it was my placement, me and a lad called Anton from Bootle/Litherland ways. It was our job to remove 3000 sandbags from a scaffold surrounding the houses during a renovation, this was in the winter period january/ february. Aton went sick on the day we got there and so i was left on my own to do it all meself. I was promised £200 from the site agent if i could get it moved within 2 weeks, so everyday in the ice cold with no gloves or equipment given to me, i was handling these frozen solid sand bags onto a trailer. Hard hard work!!. The 2 weeks went by and i only had a few bags to move on the final day, by the end of the day it was clear, the site agent had moved on to another site and i was left without the £200 bonus. Bitter still i didnt even get the £35 a fortnite that i was supposed to get on the scheme. Anton was off sick, didnt move a single bag and got paid in full. The scaffold company was called GKN and thier office was based by the back aintree hospital by the prison. Its not there anymore. I dont even know if they are still going. It was such hard work, i was freezing cold and alone on a site full of men doing thier own jobs, nobody spoke to me, nobody helped me. The trailer driver came 2 times daily to take away the bags, he let me in the cab for a warm and took me to where they drop the bags off in south end somewhere. I remember there being a terrible incident in a school and i watched it unfold on an old tv this little room that the site workers had for thier break times, i went in there when they had finished and got a little warm for 10 mins. This video brought a few memories back for me. You do a great job mate.
No wonder people get the "I deserve this" benefits mentality. You must have felt awful as a young vulnerable boy being taken advantage of like this and not knowing who to turn to to achieve justice. I hope you managed to rise above this bad experience in your future working life.
