I know Snow Miser and Heat Miser hate each other and whatnot, but they still have some common ground. They both seem to collectively hate any days that are 50 degrees.
I love how Snow Meiser’s minions just look like miniature versions of himself, but Heat Meiser’s minions look like apathetic naked troll doll baby things
@@gerogegerog5926 nah itd be "Im mister in between, im mister no, in that its not boiling, or its not 50 below, friends call me norm Miser, cause whatever i touch, stays the same in my clutch, not too much!"
I just realized that Snow Miser says "Friends call me Snow Miser" but Heat Miser says "They call me Heat Miser." Does this mean the Heat Miser doesn't have any friends?
I imagine that the Miser Brothers do their whole song and dance whenever they have a visitor. UPS comes to the door and they break out this show and the ups guy is just standing there like: Please I just need you to sign for this.
My six year old granddaughter just showed me this clip. Brought a smile to my face as I remember both watching this cartoon as a child myself and with my children when they were younger. While the Miser Brothers are complete opposites and despise one another, they have one thing in common, however. Looking at all the great comments here, they both have the ability to bring the child out of adults and continue to make us laugh. Merry Christmas everyone and never lose the childlike wonder.
I grew up with these movies and let me just say I'd watch this one just for this song. They did NOT have to go so hard and make an absolute banger. But they did. And it's amazing. This should be a classic Christmas song imo. So freaking good.
I don't even know how many years it's been since I've watched these movies, but these songs live in my head forever. Bouncing around and popping to the front every so often
Snow Miser's thin, lanky frame gives him more surface area relative to his volume, creating a large energy-exchange interface and allowing him to stay at a temperature close to that of his frigid environment. Heat Miser's rotund body minimizes surface area relative to volume, so he passively retains more heat and can easily maintain a steel-melting temperature.
As a critical analysis, I love how the songs reflect the general mood one has in the reflective weather's. Snow Miser is quicker, upbeat, like a shivering body. Heat Miser is slower, muggier, like how a hot day makes ya feel lazy as hell.
RIP Jules Bass - Jules Bass, Co-Producer of TV Holiday Staples, Is Dead at 87 (death October 25, 2022) Thank you Jules Bass for making my childhood so magical, your contirbution to animation is still being enjoyed by many, I know that we will continue to keep your memory alive , I'm sad to have not had the chance to say thank you in person as a fan of your work, but I will say it now, Thank you Jules Bass, may your memory and works live on for others to enjoy [ "Jules Bass, who created an animation empire with his business partner, Arthur Rankin Jr., that produced perennial Christmastime television favorites like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman,” died on Tuesday in Rye, N.Y. He was 87. His death, at an assisted living facility, was confirmed by Jennifer Ruff, whose mother was Mr. Bass’s first wife. The Rankin/Bass studio was a major force in animated programming, mostly on television, from the early 1960s to the late ’80s. Some of its TV shows and movies used traditional hand-drawn cel animation, but it carved out a separate specialty in the stop-motion puppet animation familiar to viewers since “Gumby” in the 1950s. Rankin/Bass’s stop-motion specials included “Rudolph” (1964), featuring the voice of the folk singer Burl Ives as Sam the Snowman; “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” (1970), with Fred Astaire as the narrator and Mickey Rooney as the voice of Kris Kringle; and “Jack Frost” (1979), with Robert Morse voicing the title role." ] article www.nytimes.com/2022/10/28/arts/television/jules-bass-dead.html
Something to note: Snow Miser can make things turn to snow, but remake them into what they were. Heat Miser can't. He makes things melt, but can't change them back into what they were. Snow Miser: Friends call me Snow Miser. Heat Miser: They call me Heat Miser.
...So, if Snow Miser prefers for it to be a day not over forty degrees, and Heat Miser prefers for it to be a day not under sixty...Do they both just get REALLY pissed off when it's fifty?
S.M) NOO! It's not under 40 degrees DANG IT! It's not my lucky day... (H.M) DA*N IT! It's 50 Degrees BUT HOW!?!? MY DARN THERMOMETER IS BROKEN!!! Well then it's not my lucky day...
This was the Christmas cartoon we especially waited for each year. Along with Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! We would scroll the TV Guide or TV daily to see when it was going to be on, just so we wouldn’t miss it! We had the best childhood! And Rankin-Bass outdid themselves with the Snow Miser/Heat Miser song and scenes! And it was a great story overall. And Mrs. Claus was voiced by Shirley Booth who played Hazel on the TV show Hazel had an unique and iconic voice, which she did a wonderful job on both of these shows.
I'm mister comfortable. I'm in between. I'm mister let's go out. When it's about 73. They can always find me. A beer in my clutch. Outside eating my lunch. Not too much.
I'm mister light weather, I'm mister breeze. I'm mister average temperature, I'm mister 50 degrees! Some call me Mild Miser, whatever I clutch, Doesn't react to my touch! Haha! Not much.
He's mister light weather , he's mister breeze ,that's right, he's mister average temperature , he's mister 50 degrees , some call me heat miser whatever I clutch , doesn't react to my touch , haha , im not much
Right? My dad watched it as a kid and passed it down to me every Christmas. It has to be Santa Claus Comin' To Town and The Year without a Santa Claus as a double feature every year lol.
My dad grew up watching this movie. Of course he introduced it to us as children and its always stuck around. The song itself is amazing and then they just pitch it down and alter it slightly. Genius.
I remember replaying these songs as a kid and it goes to show that it still slaps even in the year 2023. I just love both Heat and Snow miser in general as a kid. Even today I love the concept of hot and cold being sibling rivals. I seriously need to watch this movie again.
I'm mister gray Christmas I'm mister slush I'm mister rainy day I'm mister fifty-ush they call me Mud Miser whatever I touch becomes soggy in my clutch I'm not all that much
He's mister gray Christmas He's mister slush He's mister rainy day He's mister fifty-ush They call me Mud Miser Whatever I touch Becomes soggy in my clutch He's not that much
I never want to know a day other then 50 degrees I'll never ever change it. Having it this way with ease! He's Mr Gray Christmas He's Mr Slush He's Mr Rainy Day He's Mr 50-ush They call me Mud Miser Whatever I touch turns soggy in my clutch I'm not much
The stop-motion with more "stop" than "motion" always fascinated me as a kid, because it made me realize that animation was a craft and not something that just sprung from the ether.
It's true. As little motion as they placed, they made sure each frame had class. Every frame felt alive. Goofy moments like Snow Miser spinning around felt more-so. For villains singing about being too-much, they were quite the masters of minimal.
Aye, I think that pretty good Stop-Motions come in two flavors: These Rankin-Bass forms that may look rank amateur, but has a hell a lot of character to win you over, and one where every little detail is animated, especially the leaves that are just a treat to watch in motion. Neither are inherently good nor inherently bad, it just depends on how it resonates with you. And honestly, I can appreciate the Paranormans and the Wallace and Gromits, but please reconsider if you think I hate Rankin Bass for looking the way it does. They have their serious charms and it's pretty awesome it endured the test of time the way it has.
Notice how Snow Miser says “friends call me...” and Heat Miser says “they call me...” I guess this shows you which one is the COOLER brother. I’m really sorry.
I'm pretty sure he's supposed to be shivering. It's a clever touch for such a chilly character. It's a shame heat miser's isn't as good as cold miser's.
I actually got to play Heat Miser in my high school's production of _The Year Without a Santa Claus._ I wore a large orange wig that itched like mad, tights that rode up like no tomorrow, and sweated myself dry under the hot stage lights but it was a blast. If I was asked to go back and do it again, I would in a heartbeat.
“A Year Without A Santa Claus” is arguably one of the best Rankin Bass Christmas movies because of the Miser Brothers and their timeless, catchy theme songs.
It's wierd, the way this movie is made it feels like it's two entirely different stories being told at once. However, the well written storylines around every characters involvement, reveal of whom is the miser brothers mother, and Santa Claus heartwarming moment with that family-it all comes together and works like 100%. I'd only argue that it's a shame they didn't come back in a rankin bass production-namely not like a sequel to rudolph and frostys christmas in july-which I think is RIDICOULOUSLY underrated and treated bad for no reason because it's longer than the rest.
What's actually awesome is that, thirty-four years after this, when they did A Miser Brothers' Christmas, George S. Irving reprised his role as Heat Miser at the age of eighty-six, along with Mickey Rooney returning as Santa at eighty-eight-years-old (sadly, Dick Shawn, the voice of Snow Miser, passed away thirteen years after this special from a heart attack while on stage).
This song was the only reason I wanted to watch this movie as a kid. Snow Miser seems so cheerful and nice at a glance but would leave you cold with the cruelest pranks if he doesn't get bored of you and just gives a cold shoulder. Heat Miser looks like a hothead but be a guy you warm up to after a while. He seems outwardly antagonistic but he's just as hammy as his stepbrother.
Not so fun fact: In the re animation that they did in the 2000’s (i think), heat miser was voiced by the original voice actor, but snow miser’s voice actor died sadly😢. May Snow Miser rest in -10 peace.
