Ok, I think that is enough of the severe cold weather Mother Nature! It's been a long, snowy, cold winter here but on this day it actually warmed up to about -9c. Warm enough to go out on the Yamaha's for some fun! By the look of all the people out and about, everyone must have been suffering from cabin fever and also decided to come out!
We were hoping to do a side by side comparison between our GoPro Hero 2 camera and the new Rollei Bullet HD 5S camera that CK recently won in a video contest.
Managed to get a few comparison shots, but the Rollei kept fogging up it's case and the footage was unusable! When it was working right, it seems to have a pretty good picture. More testing is needed I suppose! Can't complain too much, the price was right...Free!

Very cool! Thanx for takin' us along! It was awesome vid as usual! Re: the cam comparison, the picture quality looked equal. The contrast looked equal. The hue was set differently & perhaps that's what shaz was referring to. My 5S has not fogged up yet, but I've only used it once (too much snow here to go out). My buddy took one of my 5S's sledding in BC & said the same thing as you about the battery dying quickly(even after dropping to 720p from 1080). Thanx for sharin'!

For some reason when I was watching the vid at work today (yes, on my lunchbreak), it ended just before the 24:00 mark right after you escaped the water breakthrough. But now at home I got to watch the rest. Love the drifting! You really do a great job of editing between cameras! Good job thar Cubster!

once again great vid - really good to see the difference between the power of the 450 and 700 grizzly - deep snow great . we have a quick trip up north this coming weekend so hopping to get time for a good ride to film plus we have some new born calves . thanks again, happy riding

Nice, the GoPro seems to have richer contrast. Sure wish we could keep our snow for more than a week without a freakishly high day or two to melt it all. I spent most of my last ride busting though the ice on mud holes, so no lakes for me...yet. Great video, as usual.

thanks for taking the time to do your videos. I know they take alot of time to do. and i love the content of them and the fact that you do long trips and the video is nice and long and shows all the important stuff as well.. trust me i watch a lot of youtube vids and there are a ton of crappy ones that they think are good and are really not lol

Thanx for the quick reply Cub. I know for sure that the LCD pack will drain the battery quicker, but my buddy said it only lasted a couple of hours even with the "battery back pack" on. As far as I'm concerned, this is not good performance. I'm sure I read somewhere in the instructions that the battery should last 2 hrs, plus an additional 2 hours with the "battery back pack" on. Maybe it doesn't like the cold weather-lol. I took it to Las Vegas last week & it performed well in the warmth -lol.

Ive only overheated when my rad was plugged with mud. Something to keep an eye on if you likemud like i do! great video man had my grizz out today in close to three feet of powder, went great had to rip it hard to get up hills but was fun to do. Take care and cheers from Muskoka!

Bicycles, awesome! They need some fat tires though, like a Surly 1x1 or a Pugsley! I love riding in snow, but I don't get enough here. Plenty of snow in the mountains, but then I am bringing skis, not a bike.... Looks like a lot of fun up there!

Hey, great vid! In my opinion I think the gopro 2 did better. It had just a tad bit better image quality and more color too. I had went in the deep snow in my yard today with my 3 wheeler and it takes very little to get it stuck, lol. But them Yamahas sure were doing the job! Just be passing by in a 4 wheeler while everyone else was in a snowmobile. Haha.

I'm surprised that yall haven't gotten a tigertail yet for those retrieval moments...The 2 appeared to have the better video,but has an icky pink yellow tinge,while the Rollei has more true colors when it worked in your video comparison...Shame that battery life isn't all that great with the Rollei,money back time for the freebie ;)

idk how it is in canada but here in the states an 03 kodiak 400 doesnt have low range.. they took away low range and park out of the transmission in 03 when they came out with the 450. you might have another problem not related to the tires. I had a 04 and put some huge wheel and tires on it and never changed did a thing to it other then ride the hell out of it and i was about 22 at the time and really put it to the test and it was a great quad

i think the bullet is better cuz i noticed the gopro is kinda a pink tint to it and take some antifog to the lens of the bullet and of course youll win that race u have a 700 and she dont lol i love the vids bro

Hey cubbee I have a question on them zillas yous run on your atvs how well do they really perform in snow mud hard pack stuff like that I watch the vids but personal data tells me more than a video do you have to yous a lot of throttle in the snow when cruising

We have almost 10,000 km’s on our zillas and can honestly say they are a great all around tire. They perform well in snow, mud, gravel/dirt road and are long lasting

Hey cub.... i thought i remembered in an older video, u said something about fixing the audio so we could hear you and CK talking... what ever happened with that? can you do that with the gopro? I was thinking of doing the same thing for me and a few friends as we can ride pretty much year round here.....

I had my tracks on my 660 Grizz BEFORE I bought the Can-Am, so your 700 would do just fine. HOWEVER, living by & riding a lot on that lake, I think a sled would be the way to go IMHO ... SAVVY !! Ice 4ft thick or not, when you hit slush ... my spinster muscles would of slammed shut immediately !! ... BTW ... I went thru some ice once ... it was NOT a fun time. .... SNOW BALL !!

Do you have a front diff lock, because you should put it on if you do going through deep snow. It'll help. ;)
