Now THAT is a real tractor and a REAL snowblower! Nice to see somebody blowing more than a 1/4 inch of snow and not considering it a “huge snowfall”. The view from outside the cab was awesome, although I would guess shooting from inside cab is probably easier. Great vid brother
Thanks man, yes this was a windy day and my wife did this recording.... didn’t have the heart to ask her to do more outside. The other vid was my brother so a tad more outdoor. Thanks for the comments 👍
I'm most impressed that you let it warm up before opening it wide open! Almost everyone who has a compact tractor jumps on it and then opens it up when you know it's so cold! Folks..... this is how it's done!
That’s funny, I would actually let it warm up a full 5 min but didn’t this time. I thought I might get hate for how quick I ran it. Thanks for the comment
I have a JD GT225 with JD 42" BLOWER. To this day I let the garden tractor run above an idle with the snowblower running to warm up tractor and blower bearings and belts. My dad taught me well in the early 60's. Black Land Farmer that he was. Love you Dad💗
My dad had an open tractor with a rear mounted PTO driven snow blower in northern New York. He used it daily because between storms, lots of snow filled the driveway by blowing in from the surrounding fields. He was bringing my mom to her store 5 days a week. He'd sure like these newer enclosed machines where the winter temps were routinely VERY cold. I wish he was still around. Real tractors are painted green and yellow.
I’m not necessarily a jd guy but I do enjoy it now that I have it. I ran an open station tractor a couple times to clear driveways and if the wind went the wrong direction.....no fun. Good on him for sticking with it. Sorry to hear about your Dad. I lost my Mom less then 2 yrs ago and it’s not that much fun, especially this time of yr. So it’s nice to look back on these memories. Have a great Christmas and God bless.
@@kslift5334 Dad lost in '85, mom lost in '14. Many good memories here too. They were actually great parents compared to other stories I've heard and generally cool people. Sorry for your loss as well.
Nice to adjust the heater ,hang up your coat, put your gloves to dry and go move snow. Got to love a good sized John Deere with the right attachment for the job.
I'm glad I watched this video. Just made up my mind Smith blowers are where it's at. Had a lucknow for over 20 yrs and nothing beat it untill the Smith blowers came out. Great video and tractor for snow blowing though.
This video definitely doesn’t do this blower justice. Although it does make more dust, I’ve used a 8’ buhler for years and would never get rid of it, and we have had a Lucknow. Never tried the smyth yet but these blowers seem to take a beating, never need work. I will have to watch for a smyth someday
I have a much smaller version John Deere 1023E diesel with cab, heater wiper and 5 ft blower. Works great. My garage is heated to about 50 degrees so don't have to wait to full throttle after about 3 minutes moving it about to get out the door. I do the same with the remote for the door, no need to jump in and out every time you come and go. Nice set up you have there.
We keep the snout down a bit more, the snow doesn’t go up so high and get a chance to separate in the air. So we’re basically blowing it more laterally than vertical. The blower beats a tractor and bucket any day of the week!! Nice video...
The tractor only had two wet lines when I did video. It now has one for the spout also and I do use it up a bit to avoid breaking off trees in tight driveways. I’ve built a couple front mount setups and this blower makes more dust by far then the 8’ buhler I sometimes use. Camera position and wind was bad this day though, maybe do another vid better quality this winter. Thanks for comment.
I used a JD 3010 gas with a old front JD loader for years! Snowmobile Clothing with a full helmet and full clear plastic shield... 3 hours of pushing snow.. COLD☃️
Maybe adjust the shute outlet so it's not pointed up in the sky, drop it down some, will reduce the amount of blowing snow... nice set up and great video
I actually didn’t, as per usual if I can run without them I never get around to installing them. This vid was my second time using this set up and if you watch my other video the tractor makes enough heat to keep ahead of it normally. I should still do it for the real windy days, hopefully I can get around to it
The hood deflector just got plumed and wasn’t in this vid...... however I almost find it worse. This blower seems to turn everything to a fine powder instead of leaving it in a concentrated pile on ground. This day was the worst so far for wind direction
You mean with the snow dust? This day seemed worse then normal. But I do have a 8’ buhler with 3 blade fan and it doesn’t seem to be nearly as bad. Also I have spout plumed now and it helps a small amount. Thanks for comment
Do you still run the shear bolt style pto hookup for the blower because I’m constantly breaking shear bolts or did you switch to a slip clutch style one? Or is that even a thing?
I’d bet someone has converted to a slip clutch, but I’ve never seen one. Mine is a bolt and I have never had to change yet. My first yr I borrowed a blower and any wet snow would break the bolt because the hole gets sloppy and breaks bolt easily. There is some sort of collar that you can weld in and make the surface like new to hold on to bolts better. Maybe worth a try, otherwise it’s probably a new shaft..... thanks for comment
Deere POWRE in action . Makes me wonder if there is a front mount for my 855. Thank You . As a personal note , I personally want a New Holland Bi Drive with a loader on one end and a snow blower on the other, that way you just turn the seat around . Does any body have that? does it work that way ? Thank You
Thanks. My Dad has a late model versatile bidirectional, (same idea or how new Holland began) the pto is the same end as the loader and 3pt hitch. They work very well for snow removal. I believe I heard once they do have availability for pto and 3pt hitch on engine side, but can’t confirm. I do know they are very different to drive with engine foreword direction.
Lol I have exhaust fan and gas monitors if you are worried about that. I let it warm up for 1/2 a min just to help engine oil circulation before I move it. Exhaust hangs at top of shop then fan pulls it away without cooling entire shop down
Now THIS is what I call a big snow blower. The problem with all snow blowing, is that you have so damn poor visibility from all the snow dust. You should have radar.
It’s actually good. It’s a 4 blade which buhler says is to stop from plugging in wet snow. My old 8’ was a 3 blade that I might have plugged once a yr in real wet conditions. I’ve not plugged the 9’ in the two yrs, so maybe they are onto something. The new vid I posted of it with hood functioning shows both blowers
Usually have to turn heat off after 10 min, outside temp doesn’t change it much. After 1/2 hr I usually crack a window but in summer I leave a/c on high. Thanks for watching
I know this is old but I would of never had the chute pointed up like that unless there was a strong wind to blow it away from the path, I would of ran with it a about 20-30 degrees to keep the white wash/snow fog down and get some distance, good video though.
I guess I should change the title, but in the description I think it says the lines were not hooked up yet for that. I only had one set of remotes to the front when I first used. Newer vid has it all hooked up. Thanks for comment
I seen the lines hooked to cylinder and just couldn't figure out why you didn't move it, I did think that maybe the switch in cab was bad, nice set up.
If you use that showed the flag there a little bit you will get a lot less of the fluffy stuff blowing all over your windshield and it will throw it just as far
This was a bad day and first use with set up. Also spout wasn’t hooked up. My most recent snow video is a much better representation of a normal use. Thanks for the watch.
@@kslift5334 I like your videos keep up the good work wasn't trying to criticise just trying to help from my experience been plowing and blowing snow for 35 years or song
