I’ve had the privilege of owning Traditional boots for my first pair..lashed boots for my second pair..and single Boa system for my 3rd pair..I alternate days on my lashes and boas..on the market for traditional cuz those have been my favorite to ride with..the other two take to many runs to figure out the sweet spot in tightness. Fractured my left clavicle two days ago on the slopes so got about 6 weeks of recovery ahead of me before being able to head back out..I’ve never commented before but I gotta say Thank You for all your videos I taught myself how to ride from watching you tutorials about 7 years ago..been in love with the sport ever since

Hey Kevin, so glad you made this video! I've just has my first 3 days of the season this week and they have been the best 3 days of snowboarding in my life because of the all the advice you've given when it comes to snowboard boots in your past videos. Last season I had a brand new pair of 32 Lashed boots size 9.5 (my normal shoe size that I wear) and after about 15 days of riding them It was unbearable to even go up the chairlift one time. I rented for the rest of the season, but did my research, and purchased a pair of Vans Hi Standard Pro boots size 7.5 (my foot size on a Brannock Device). I had some discomfort when breaking these boots in, I think from overtightening them like how I used to with the old boots, but had a few days over the summer to get ready for the season at Big Snow in NJ, and now after a few full days on the mountain, they feel great. Anyone who is buying snowboard boots needs to watch this video and measure their foot the way I did!

Also I forgot to mention but without the distraction of all the foot pain from the old boots, I feel that my riding is just overall a lot better than I even thought it would be by now. This week I literally went from only riding regular to throwing 180s.

Seems you will find an array of different experiences and opinions when it comes to boots. But i guess foot size and shape will vary quite a bit between individuals... Personally ive now had two pairs of boots with Burtons Speed Lace system with hardly any problems. I like them and would get them again. Before that had traditional laces and for me found they took way longer to do up, more difficult to get consistently tight and the laces tore up my fingers after a while. But each to their own... i know loads of people who love them and loads more that would never have anything other than BOAs... Its all foot type and personal preference.

I measured my feet and bought the boots that fit my feet true to size, for me that’s 26cm which was a size 8 from Ride. True to size is always the way to go for me.
@kathypear2540
@kathypear2540 Год назад
I’m confused as I’m new to this. I measured my foot and it’s about 22.5cm. The Burton boot says the boot is 23cm mondo. Would this be a good fit? is 23 referring to the foot size or the size of the boot?
@samimakesmusic
@samimakesmusic Год назад
@@kathypear2540 Oh no problem, I’m happy to help. Mondo sizing is just the size of your foot in centimetres or millimetres so in this case your feet are 22.5 (cm) or 225 (mm) - According to the burton website you should be wearing a size 5.5 women’s boot. Hope this helps! See you on the mountain.
@kathypear2540
@kathypear2540 Год назад
@@samimakesmusic oh that makes sense! So a buyer will measure their foot first in cm and purchase the boot according to the mondo size 😃. I see the Burton boot on eBay for $200 vs $400 new and it’s 23cm mondo size and claims it was worn only once. Do you think it’s a wise purchase? Seeing how I’m 22.5cm and the eBay one is 23cm? @@kathypear2540 I recommend shopping around for deals, often times if I’m looking for something I will almost always try to buy new unless I really can’t afford what I want and still need it…for boots and shoes I’d always recommend buying new if possible. Hi Kevin, Hope all is well. I am in the market for these boots because they look unreal and fit the bill for everything that I need. I have seen in so many videos that Vans boots run true to size of that of the sneaker you wear. In this case I would be a US10/UK9 and then from this video and going with Mondo fitting I would be a US9/UK8 - Any light on this? My Mondo is 272mm but this is caught right in the middle of 27 and 27.5 on the sizing chart which would be US9/US9.5 - Any light on this would be good. Or if anyone else sees this comment and has these boots and wants to comment on the fit of them that would be great! :D Thanks for the videos! Andy

Always end up with air gap between liner and front of shin, especially if I point my feet down. Was an issue on last pair of boots too. Liner goes on my shin nice and solid at first, but by time boots are done up, an air gap is presented (quite a bit, 1/4” plus). The power strap doesn’t cinch that down. @@adamrutledge839 I ride a 158 but depends on the board. Wide also has a different size chart so double check that. What are you getting?

Having the same problem choosing a size too, I’m a 9 in normal vans, measured my foot 26cm, recommend size is an 8 from the mondo sizing chart, im stuck in between just going with an 8 or 8.5 to be in the safe side..

@@97till_ yea im stuck too because im 9.5 but idk if i want to get a 9 to be safe but they do grow out over time

@@JUNEBUGZ_04 I just got my 8.5 in today, right off the jump after putting them on they fit perfect, I’ve been wearing them all day around my home and haven’t had any pain or pressure points, again I’m a 9 in normal vans, if I would’ve sized down to an 8 I feel like I would’ve had some discomfort, these are going to pack out to a 9 forsure, I’d definitely say just go with the size 9 for you 👍🏼

why do people flex boots towards the toe to check how soft/stiff they are? the lateral flex is what matters.
