Thanks for your comment! I spoke with one of our Tech Support reps, and this is what he had to say: Check power at the blue wire; it should not be getting power when you press right. If it is, then the controller may be faulty. The orange wire should be getting power.
I have a hd75. When i try to lift the plow the hydraulic will move until it starts to pick up the plow then i struggles and won't lift. Everything else works. I took the pump apart cleaned everything. Replaced the up valve and still nothing. It acts like its not building pressure.
Thanks for your comment! I reached out to one of our SnowDogg Technicians, and this is what he said: I would look at the down valve. If it is stuck open a little, then the cylinder would go up. When pressure is needed, it may be leaking to the down valve and no pressure is being created. Also check the up valve coil (SB) and green wire. Check the voltage when you are going up and see if there is a drop in voltage when chains get tight. It could possibly be the controller. If it's easier, I might encourage you to give Tech Support a call at 440-974-8888. They would be able to help troubleshoot over the phone. Thank you!
@@BuyersProductsCompany thank you so much. I was a piece of debris caught in the down valve. I think it was causing the fluid just to circulate back through instead of raising the ram
I know for you this is such a dumb question but first timer here. When plow is all way up (wont go any further) its only 4 inches from the ground and the up/down cylinder never remotely even goes all way in the cylinder. You cant even push on it (when plow is off truck). Any tips if this isnt correct would be so appreciated. I can def look at this valve issue. Plow had sat for bout 4 years before i got it. Thank you kindley in advance for any suggestions.
Thanks for your comment! Not a dumb question at all! Since it has been sitting for a while, the packing in the cylinder may have dried out, not letting it go down all the way. The solution would be to loosen the gland nut on top of the housing of the cylinder (where the ram goes in and out). Loosen the nut a turn or turn and a half, then work the plow up and down, and the ram should go down all the way. If it is not leaking, you can leave the nut where it is at.
@Buyers Products Company Pretty sure gland is shot. If i buy a new gland nut w packing would you mind telling me how tight to go? I hate bothering you w this question but if it doesnt come w instructions then hoping you could help. Thank you immensely for your previous help as well and you taking the time. The current gland nut is so ridiculously tight that i know im probably going to ruin it taking it off and obviously if i need heat its def going to get ruined. Thanks again very much for your time
@Buyers Products Company Just wanted to touch base and let you know what i found,,the gland nut had to pressed off. Rust had gotten behind the lip seal and caused cylinder to be frozen in place. Thank you again for your help and if by chance when the new gland nut comes if you could share torque spec/setup procedure. Thank you again
I just heard back from our technician! He would take some liquid wrench or blaster and soak the threads to the gland nut. And let it soak. Then try to get the gland nut off. On tightening the nut up, the best approach would be to tighten a little then run it up and down a few times then tighten it more to it doesn’t leak. Then go a quarter of a turn more.
Good video. I got a question I got a Boss straight blade Plow and when I try to angle it to the right it makes that clicking sound and doesn’t move but when I push the button a second time to angle it to the right it works. Basically every time I try to angle the plow to the right it always just clicks the first time I push the button and will not move and then when I push the right angle button a second time it will work. It doesn’t do this on up or down or when I angle left. It only happens when you want to angle the plow right. It’s really irritating do you know what is causing this??? Could it be the solenoid motor relay??? Or something else???
One thing to add I was using a battery that works good to begin with but then the battery died below 12 V needed and I didn’t catch on it. I was wondering how all of a sudden the motor stopped running good but the relay valves were working good? So before make sure you have a good battery to start and check it when things don’t make sense
12 volts going to the motor and coils are very important, the coils will not work under 9 volts, so when you are working on a plow and have the lights on the truck on, its ok to keep a charger on the battery to keep the volts up.
I have Snowdogg MD75ll straight blade plow. This weekend I wanted hook up the plow get ready for the season. I set up controller in mount mode drove in to hook mount to the pins. Then when I went to connect the hydraulic cord it shifted at full speed to the left and start making humming noise. I disconnected it quickly then tried again tried to turn and again start making humming noise. Not sure if it solenoids or connection problem. Some help would be helpful thank you.
Thanks for your comment, Ray! It appears that the 12V solenoid under the hood is sticking and letting power transfer to the motor. You'll want to replace the solenoid (part #16160410). I hope this helps! Thanks! -Lucas
I have an MD75 plow and it started up/left/right slowly and then stopped all together. Thinking maybe the main relief valve? No idea where to start to troubleshoot. Would appreciate any help. When I use the controller I hear the motor running, but nothing happening.
Hi Drew - When you press up do you hear a click under the hood? If you do that means your 12 volt relay is activating, and sending power down to your motor. Check power at the motor, if you are getting power there then the motor may be bad, to test the motor run jumper cables from the battery to the motor and see if it turns. If it does then the motor is good. Voltage at the motor is also important so make sure with a multimeter it is getting 12 volts to operate.
My MD75 ( pretty sure that’s the number) goes up and down and only swings left. I checked the solenoid on the vale and replaced it, the one that this video says swings right. It still goes full left and doesn’t go right. I contacted teach support and still haven’t received a call back, pretty sad they won’t give you a number to help. The pump runs when I hit the right button but won’t move, I’m stumped as to what to do next. HELP!
Please check power going to the orange wire on the hydraulic power unit. Press right, if you are not getting power to the coil then it will go left, if you are not getting power there the most likely problem is the plow side harness. #16160400
My straight plow for 1997 f150 drops but not all the way down.. can’t even push it down to ground even though float light is on .. replaced drop valve. Still the same.. any help would be appreciated.. I can’t figure it out .. thanks
Thanks for contacting us. I would be looking at the lift cylinder and try to loosen the gland nut on the top of the cylinder, the gland nut is on the top of the housing were the ram (silver part) goes up and down, loosen this 1 to 2 turns and this should loosen the packing inside so the lift arm will go all the way down. The thread is a fine thread so you can leave it out 1 to 2 turns, also before you start soak the threads with liquid wrench or a blaster to make it a little easier to loosen.
Just started having an issue with our plow. It seems like the pump is cavitating the fluid is foamy and the movement speed of the blade is only normal for a split second then moves extremely slow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 2012 MD75 , left & right works, won't go up, just makes a humming noise like it want to go up, when I put it in float mode & can move the cylinder up & down
Hello there! Our SnowDogg techs will be happy to help you troubleshoot your plow. Please fill out this form: www.buyersproducts.com/techsupport with as much detail as possible and Jim or one of the other techs will be in touch soon.
I was asked to help trouble shoot one of these last night and my area of knowledge is aircraft related where hydraulics are concerned, so i was a bit overwhelmed with 'heres the beast, so what do we do now?' and no documentation. I'm pretty sure it's a Snowdog Te90 if that helps. So how do remove trapped air from this if it needs it? thanks!
Trapped air, air pockets are easily removed by just operating the plow, it has a built in vent that most of the time will work the air out. If it doesn’t, I would loosen a fitting on the cylinder and operate it back and forth until you see some oil leaking then tighten it up, do the same on the opposite cylinder.
Hello, Bill! The best course of action can depend on several factors. They can help you troubleshoot the valve and figure out the correct next steps.
I have a MD68. The plow swings full left at full speed if I hook up the front main harness to pump. If I disconnect the control handle from harness, it still swings left. If I turn the controller power off in cab, it still swings left. If I turn the truck off, it still swings left. If I disconnect main harness to pump, it stops. I can power up, down or right, but it still swings left. The main power solenoid has power to both large battery terminals all the time. I presume the solenoid is faulty or could it be another issue. Thank you from Timmins Ontario.
Yes you have presumed correctly. The under the hood solenoid is sticking and giving the plow motor power at all time, it would be best to replace it. I hope this helps!
@@BuyersProductsCompany we have something similar happening it swings left and pump continues to run until main harness is unplugged, but while the pump is stuck running it will not go up, down or right.
@@Axial32 I am not answering for Buyers Products, but I had to hold the other function continually for it to go up or right. As soon as I let go of the other function button it would travel full left and continually pump, till harness was disconnected. The solenoid was just over $35.00 CDN. and 5 minutes to change. Hope this helps you.
