Good tip on snowplowing. I have an 800ft crushed gravel driveway and when we moved here a year and a half ago, I didn’t want to buy an expensive hydraulic plow so I went with a snow pusher. It’s gravity fed and basically skims along the top of the driveway. Another good thing is that it won’t destroy the grass. Bad thing is you can’t back-drag the snow. It works well for what I need and I wouldn’t want to do more than my driveway. Keeping the snow pushed as far away from the driveway as possible is very important because it’s only mid January and you have no idea how much more snow is coming. Here in Minne”snow”ta the snow will be here until the end of March.
Hey Greg! Yeah same idea here! I hover over the grass and the dirt driveway forms its own shell of ice snow as long as it stays cold its mint! Its the freeze thaw that sucks!
I've been plowing snow for 24 years. I learned when I bought an 89 c1500 with a Fischer plow on it. In 21 years I ran that truck into the ground and sold the plow for $1200. I then bought a meyers plow and put that on my 94 Silverado which pushes snow like a demon. This is the first video I've ever watched about the subject and I guess I've been doing it correct over the years. I can't say enough about how tough Chevy trucks and Fischer plows are. Meyers is a good brand to but we'll see if it lasts 30 years like that Fischer that is still pushing.
I agree Fisher plows are bomb. This one is 2006 installed. Always kept in garage. Not even a paint flicker off it. My dad used it for commercial plowing for 8 years too haha Nothing like a chevy and fisher plow!
We, in northeast Tn. don't seem to get the snow I remember as a kid, but I have a dozer blade on my Wheel Horse garden tractor that does the job for me. My driveway is concrete and steep. Garage is under the house so it can be tricky to get out and up the driveway if caught off guard on snow. Great tips and video!
Nice going buddy! Nice little truck with plow! My plow truck is a 2004 Ford F350 diesel with a 9 1/2 foot hiniker v plow with wings on it....but I also plow commercially too!! I also have a salter on the back!! I love plowing snow...which I've done quite a bit of so far this winter!! Keep em coming my friend!! Stay safe
My old 89 Chevy had a spreader on the back before I got it. It was one giant hunk of rust. I held it together for years with clamps and baling wire. I plowed for 3 years with no clutch pedal. Damn I was bad on that truck but it lasted me 21 years. I parked it on my back 40 and the last time I saw it 2 bear Cubs were playing in the back. Nice to see its still getting some use.
Brings back the good Ole days of plowing with a heavy Chevy. Had to get rid of it do to developing to many issues. And could no longer afford it. :( the other is where I live 1st offense for pushing snow across the street is a warning the 2nd warning is a $500.00 fine.
Nice, simple video. I'm new to plowing. You have a good plow truck. Especially like the tip about having a visual reference from the cab, of how high your plow is. Have you considered a rubber snow deflector on top of the plow?
I’ve been plowing with this exact setup since I was 14 lol you don’t need the top rubber piece. Unless you’re plowing at 65mph hahaha which I don’t recommend 🤣. Thanks for watching and good luck
