Patnitop or Patni Top is a hilltop tourist location in Udhampur district in the Jammu and Kashmir union territory of India, on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (which is part of National Highway 44, formerly 1A), 112 km (70 mi) from Jammu on the way from Udhampur to Srinagar. Situated on a plateau in the Shivalik belt of the Himalayas, Patnitop sits at an altitude of 2,024 m (6,640 ft). The river Chenab flows in close proximity to this location.(SRC.-WIKIPEDIA)

Drove in much worse snow in chopta..with my Bolero Pikup 2WD...roads wer clear on the way to nathatop guys..4X4 wasnt need of time. good video though.

My childhood memories come alive... From 1976 to 79, My father a BRO (Border Roads Organisation) officer was stationed in Batote (52 RCC) and commanded Udhampur - Ramban sector. I often use to go with him to Patnitop , Nathha top and Sanasar in his official Jonga (The military off-roader jeep of those times). In winters the snow clearance on the Jammu Srinagar highway was done with the help of imported snow machines, Rolba from Switzerland and Sicard from Canada. Bulldozers were also pressed in service at times. I have very fond memories of those times on Patnitop and around. Let me know how can I be a part of this drive happening next time. I have a Ecosport and I live in Delhi now.

Tyres don't skid in fresh snow. It becomes slippery when snow turns into ice. So chill, not dangerous at all.
