First big snow of the year coming here tomorrow ! Get the 04 mc 900 1m out tonight :) 4000m on her too still runs like the clock. Lots of love into her :)
I think arctic cat switched to a non windowed piston in 2019 to fix that issue and add recall to prevent running too lean .. can’t remember exactly i don’t work at the dealer anymore🧐
You ever considered parting out a sled? Every time I blow up a sled (I ride turbo 2011-2015 pros so it happens every 3k miles ish) I part it out, take all my good parts, swap all my good stuff over to another sled, then sell all the stock parts I replaced and the rest of the parts off the blown up sled. Usually I break even or even make a couple hundred bucks. Went from riding a stock 2011 pro to having a 2012 163 with a boondocker turbo and a 2014 with a ice age 174 skid and a boost it turbo using this method. Haven’t put any money into the sleds aside from the original cost of the 2011 plus the profits from parting out the blown up sleds. It’s a lot of work but I know these sleds inside and out now which isn’t a bad thing and I have two kickass sleds that I’ve basically built for free
Went to specialty mechanics. According to the top. Rule of thumb is 3000 miles top end rebuild Not standing up for this ctec. But the piston ports are too big on the rear. We had one at 5000 km and there was stress cracks. Anyways digit9. Your channel $)@&8!( ROCKS!!!!!🍺🍺🍺🍺🇨🇦🇨🇦
Came down hard on a rock today (east coast) with my pro 850, thought I broke an oil line off because it stopped dead. Turned out I just knocked an ECM plug out- super lucky!
Had a 2004 Yamaha RX-1 , 20,000km replaced exhaust gaskets once and regular oil changes other than that I never had to put a wrench to it, clutches last forever, never ever blew a belt ,only changed a couple of times due to Wear , I think I changed the spark plugs once just for the hell of it, didn’t really make a difference... and I drove the living daylights out of it, never missed a beat !
For taking off springs, that you can get to...use like this spring puller from trampolines, works great. Perfect time for this video, my engine started making funny noises 2days ago...prob some crank bearings at 6500mi
We're going to post a couple more videos of tearing down the motor and the options for the fix. Gut reaction initially was to tig and clean it up but ultimately that option was a little more difficult than it seemed. You're not wrong, but the cons outweighed the pros if the weld didn't hold. - Randy
I put 10 000 plus miles on my xcr 600 and xc 700. Without opening the motor. Produmax oil is the best oil made. . I won't put anything but this is my sleds Now called legend zx-2sr oil.
That's why they make the warranty for x amount of time they knew lol. Man that sucks tho. My dogs hate when there is yelling as well. Did the oil pump stop working an cause it to go lean cus that's what it looks like to me anyways. Why couldn't you still use that block tho
so the new 800 motors, are these suzuki still with no name on it? Who actually makes them? dont tell me arctic cat makes them, nothing is made in the states
I'll give you $1 for it lol At that point with that many miles id be looking for a low mileage engine on the classifieds. Plus id be taking that case apart and taking it to a good tig welder. But i'm a gambler lol
@@DIGIT9 geeez. Was hoping to get alot more out of it. Runs good ect. Makes me nervous now. Dealerships are selling these thing for 8-9 grand with that many miles on the 800s. If they grenade around that. Very not cool!
@@DIGIT9 is that Mileage based on mountain use? Because we have multiple 800ho cat motors well into the 8,000 mile range and not a single issue and compression in very good.
Trail sleds last a lot longer, I've had over 6000 miles on every size cat motor. I rebuilt my Crossfire 600 motor at 7000 miles and everything was still in spec when I took it apart.
You'd think if they were manufactured this poorly, they'd be pretty affordable. But no, quite the opposite. They're more expensive and lower quality than ever before.
all components are design to fail right after warrant expires, AUTOMATIVE STANDARD, If they design the right way nothing would fail ….lol hence 1980 MERCEDES 280 and did 1 million miles…
Agreed. Rebuilt a 470 formula mx, 583 formula, 670 ho mxz then my 600 etec over 6 years. Figured I'm done with that. Owned a sr viper xtx for 5 years now and its run flawless (over 6000km and counting) Wouldn't own it if I was a mountain rider tho.
