I love how they run them for 20 seconds - 2 minutes to assure that they work. "I dunno what the problem could be Jimbo. We ran it for at least 20 seconds once...."
Things have changed in the Manufacturing of Arctic cat snowmobiles from when I was a 17-year-old kid working there nights and going to high school back in 1967.
Now that's a Artic cat truly and Yamaha enticer. Had barashoot 1967. Panther with tiger seat. Ski doo carburetor right at u balls. Gas every where. Polaris xrc xtc xxc. Mom had XT air 1970 when I mean cold oh ya it was bitter. Freeze face. Years freeze face. Snow like no Tomorrow. Rained hard all week all night all day. But now there is a problem 😔. We need do hell of alot more. It's kinda wired. Talking to kids. That grew up right into a virtual world. Poor kids had no choice. Don't wanna work don't wanna learn
Great video, in December 2019 I picked up a new 2018 ZR 8000 ES Sno Pro 127. 2 rides so far, about 100 miles and I can tell you I absolutely love the sled. Handles like a dream and pulls like crazy and engine parts aren't even seated yet. Have a 2008 AC 650H1 4x4 that is awesome too!
Awesome. As an owner of many Arctic Cat sleds and atv's over 30 years I can say well Done Boys and girls. Keep up the good work and keep on innovating.
Totally agree. Imagine..... She knows she is being filmed for an ad...... And to make matters worse..... They (Textron) put this out for you to see! They sure are passionate. (As textron says...)
I would buy a new Arctic Cat Snowmobile . But I am 72 years old and retired. It is the money problem . Or not having lots of money, from social Security. I have snowmobiled, all the way back to the year 1972 . I have right now , a 1995 Arctic Cat ZRT 800, and a 1991 wildcat 700 snowmobiles .Still snowmobile every winter.
They are just as good as the new ones save and buy a new huge track and skid then save for a huge big bore and in a few years they will be just as capable as newer sleds
RICHARD maaske you could always rent one or go on a tour. Most snowmobiles go unused much of the winter anyways. I’m returning home for Christmas from California and will be renting a snowmobile.
@@courttower51 sold the orange 05,,now i own a 2003 F7 patriot,,1 of only 231 made,,, these are old and out dated,,but i wont spend 15k on a butt fugly sled just because there better,,,for how i ride,,,the f7 is just fine
As a former employee I can tell you they dont build 300+ a day they havent in over 10 yrs. When I left in 2018 we were building 150-160 a day and we didnt have 250 employees building either. There were barely 150 employees between everything and many ppl asked to do more than time allowed for. I can also tell you the day they made this vid in the main plant we were building without parts and werent supposed to work that week because of parts shortages. Also no hammers were used that day and normally they are so all the sleds had to be gone thru to ensure everything was correct.
brian towne thanks for the reply been many years since I’ve been sledding moved to south fla in 1987 from the Catskills in NY and had a cat and ski doo. Man I loved waking up when we had a good snowstorm and firing up the arctic cat! It was a I think 1974 with a jlo Rockwell motor and it screamed like a cat! I’m 50 now and still love speed. Everything I owned had to be fast still till this day! Past it down to my boys who all own fast cars, boats and 4 wheelers. I want so bad to take them and let them experience snowmobiling. Best thing ever
Had a number of Arctic Cat machines and other than a 2003 600 EFI that burned up both pistons when almost new I have had great experience with Cat. The twin spar sleds didn't leave much to be desired and handled like a tired whale on the trails, but the pro cross chassis are the best in the business in both handling and aesthetics.
I see they've really cleaned up the inside of the plant. When I was there taking a tour in September of 2007 everything was filthy like it hadn't been cleaned since the early 70s and it was really dark inside. All of the employees looked angry too.
While I can't afford a new snowmobile, I sure like the mid 90's cat fan cooled sleds. Still have two of them (95 Panther 440 and 97 Puma 340 - both 2up) that run great and seem to be more reliable than some of the new iron on the trails.
To All Employees From Arctic Cat Management Next Thursday there will be a camera crew in the factory to record the various steps in the production process. Please pick up a tee shirt to wear on that day; you are required to wear the shirt on Thursday. The cost of the shirt will be deducted from your monthly payroll amount. XOXO, Tha Managenment
Man I temmber when my dad would come home back in the day and eventually quit becuase back ten years ago they didn’t have robots to lift the motors so he would carry them by using human strength and after 9 years he quit
Moto The Rabid Trash Panda ya he used to drive to Roseau from Lancaster and that was Awful to but he quit those and now goes to caviler witch is still 40 min drive but makes a lot more
had a 92/580 ext No low-mid power chaincase stator spark plug fouling garbage suspension gasoline drinken oil guzziling and a nose cone that got hung up on every bump thumb throttle electrical nightmare I hope they fixed these flaws by now
Had a brand new 1995 Ski-Doo Summit 583, fucking thing NEVER wanted to start, and no electric start, no reverse, weighed a ton, wouldn't take a turn for shit, guzzeled gas, and I ended up selling it after only 3 seasons to a friend that had the same starting issue. They eventually sold it. I hope they fixed those issues, meaning Ski-Doo.
Textron needs to get there💩 Together!! They " need" a new full size platform!! But as a vehicle there isn't one snowmobile I don't love, my hands down favorite motorsport!! 😂😂😂
Yeah. Rumors were going around that cat went under. So textron bought them out. But the polaris guys must of forgot that textron was a part of polaris too.
I bought a new 2017 M6 153 Sno Pro (C-Tec Oil) and a month after the warranty expired, with 890 miles, the C Tec engine blew a cylinder jug and piston. The dealer was no help so I called the company service number and the nice lady said the service manager doesn't talk to the public. Then I contacted another person who said they couldn't help me and I'd have to eat the cost of a new rebuild ( which ended up being $2140.00). Since then I've been enjoying my new 2022 Skidoo 850 Summit...adios Arctic Cat...
I am totally blown away. My question is, how come when I have researched arctic cat four wheelers and made phone calls to corporate, I never could find anything like this about their four wheelers? I consider myself a marketing genius and I think I have proof for it. I want to buy an arctic cat four wheeler but not until I can verify that it is A Made in the US that is the engine B The four wheeler is assembled in the US. It is your responsibility to prove it to me, it is not my responsibility as a potential customer to try to get a hold of you.
Being from the Roseau and Thief River area, I fully agree. Textron just about put Polaris under back in the late 70s, early 80s. Then slap a big ass Textron sign up, and gave Arctic Cat a small corner on the sign. Talk about a slap in the face to our area
Nope, Polaris doesn't either. Had a guy several months ago get hit on the head by a bunch of parts falling off a shelf. Damn near killed him. Now Polaris changed their warehouse setup
Last I heard, ac won't be making any sleds unless you pre ordered one. (It's the same damn thing. They just want to use up their old stock). FYI. Yamaha is done.
They should put more grease in the bearings it's not enough what they do so quality control it's not so great when the owner has to take care of this problem by themselves go on RU-vid and you'll see what I mean
It’s very unfortunate that Kawasaki totally got out of snowmobiles - Not only did they make some amazing sleds for their time, but they supplied engines to Artic cat which honestly made for some of the most reliable years for Cats. Suzuki and Artic cat motors have never been know for reliability. When you have ski do’s and polaris sleds that can have tens of thousands of KM on the clock and still on the original motor assembly. I haven’t seen many cats do that over the years.
I've owned a lot of sleds and my first were skidoos in the 70's and the last skidoos were both 1997 and honestly the cats ice owned never gave me any problems and I think it was because the engines were Japanese let's face it the Japanese are far better engineers than us and Canada
I hope you're kidding. The Suzuki 800 is one of the most reliable sled engines out there, but I would agree the skidoo etec has to take the cake. Polaris 800 engines were notoriously unreliable for years, specifically the liberty line.
You are off your meds if you think dual points, coils, walbro and Tillotson carbs were anywhere near as reliable pre 1976, which is when suzuki engines became the only mill put in a cat. I owned several early 70's cat sleds with Kawasaki engines, they had crank seal issues, warped heads, warped manifolds, and wouldn't hold up next to any suzuki snowmobile engine in an arctic cat. I have 8 cats, 7 with Suzukis, all more durable than any engine Kawasaki ever sold Arctic Cat.
I can teach you a few things might already know but I know been drag racing since 2011 Only Run Arctic Cat my first one was a beast 2010 Sno Pro 600. It would beat my new one 2014 Sx R 600 Sponcer me a coat ill show how to build a Epic clutch kit that will work awesome in hillclimb also I race & won. They asked me to Hillclimb In B.C sent me email cause I won hill climb In Alberta.
@Don Olypopper also Yamaha doesn't have much of a sled line anymore they use alot of cat parts or ideas and what is their own wouldn't be enough to keep a market share
Skidoo is the superior manufacturer, cats are just not as solid they using smaller bolts nuts etc and that means less strength, there tunnels wrinkle easier then skidoo also, I have only owned cats an 03 f7 and a 2001 zr 600 both of those sleds were weak imo, the f7 had less then 1000 miles and when I pulled the seat off to install my wrap my tunnel was cracked already I’m like huh, you don’t see that stuff with skidoo, say what you want, but I have built many custom builds and cats just don’t hold up to skidoo, maybe these days is dif I don’t know but I am bettin not, the rev chassis to this day still holds its own for old tech
you're on the crack pipe dude, BRP has the most technologically advanced design and manufacturing of all the snowmobile and atv manufacturers with the possible exception of Yamaha. And BTW Ski Doo has been using the pierce riveting process for close to 30 yrs
if they were built in china, they would cost 3999,but because they are built here they cost 15999.I see the labor cost and all that but I still don't see the justification for the price.I guess the fun factor has a price too
I don’t doubt that there are a lot of issues with the newest breed coming off the line and I’m sure the fact that there are three companies involved trying to push sales above Research and development is never a good thing. I always liked the big iron but don’t think I would spend the money they want these days. My “newest” ride is a ‘00 T-Cat that I bought three years ago. Always been garage kept and only has 668 miles on it,it’s a head turner and I get a lot of “ they sure don’t make them like they used to “ good luck with your machine!
They dont they make em better now days. Better suspension, modern day sleds 4 strokes are putting on more miles with out blowing the engines. Gas mileage is 10x better modern day machines arent as loud, as them old iron mules. Sleds dont smoke as much as they used to. Modern day sleds will take you through the tight an twisty trails. Them old slouches youll have to turn back or risk getting stuck.
Cat sleds in 2021 are falling to pieces. The Alpha has Electrical gremlins! Rails are cracking and snapping, tracks are delaminating and Cat will fight every step of the way not to warranty them.
My local dealer still has new cat sleds from tge 2017 model year, that tells me they either make way too many or everyone knows they are garbage. I bet Yamaha wishes they partnered with someone else lol
All manufacturers have non current sleds and atv's moron. And Cats are built tough and reliable. Your probably just a child so I wont rag on you for spouting nonsense.
I still have 2 1975 Arctic Cat Panther VIP sleds still in the Crate. From when my Dad Owned an Arctic Cat, Kawasaki and Yamaha Snowmobile Dealership from 1969-1982.
Shop around there is deals on leftover or people upgrading after 1 to 2 years like mine 1 year old cat zr 600 limited used 1 weekend he decided to order a 2020 800 RR so I got the 2019
Wow look how flimsy those chassis look. No wonder people always seem to be complaining about broken bulkheads and torn our A-arm mounts, etc... Interesting though that ArticCat is built mostly by women.
All I seen were old women ...and workers who do not look happy ...ask any dealer..Cats are the number one sled in the shop for repairs..mostly due to poor assembly !
good video BUT years ago Polaris was owned by Textron and produced a far better machine after they went their own way, kind of a reverse situation for A/C but time will tell! big corp. over the years can have screwed up before.....
My dad talks about Textron about ruining Polaris back in the day. Him and his buddies got to ride a lot of the test sleds because his buddies dad was an engineer for Polaris for years. First triple ever built was a 500 called the Centurion. Damn thing didn't have a cutoff and hit damn near 180mph the way it was geared. Said it scared the shit outta them lol
My only complaint about the cats is the heavy metal oil injection housing should use plastic oil injection housing like the rest of the snowmobile industry
Good ppl like you save more sleds for ppl like me cuz in the winter there my cars as i live in ALASKA and do not have any roads only 1 small gravel road not paved at all
This is why they cost the price of a small car. Way too much detail in production. They need to buy and install an air cooled motor from china for 50 dollars to lower the price.
@@errolpoxleitner3163 Its overly engineered. Sure there better than ever. But I only have 2000 to spend on a new one. not 12000. What working class person can afford this price.
I agree. You can buy a brand new Korean built Chevy Spark for 12k in Chicago area. Why the fuck would I pay that for a sled? Waaaay overpriced, so I'm getting a basic work-utility model for about 8k. Ya know, back in 1985 I bought a new John Deere 440 Liquafire and was the funnest easy to use sled I've ever had. And it wasn't even $2k.
@@davidgarris2513 You may be near my age 56. Same here bought a Honda 350x for a 2300 In 1985. It was about, I think, 2300 dollars. In today's dollars thats between 5 and 6 thousand dollars. Thats still a lot of money to save up cash. 20000 dollars is 4 times that amount. And there making everything efficiently too that is with modern automation. No wonder Asia has been taking over.
