I know this video is 3-1/2 years old, but I just came across it, and I also just bought a '19 Assault, so this video was very helpful to me being a new Axys owner.

Thanks for this one. I've been having a hell of a time with my track suspension. I appreciate the easy to follow explanations. I know I'll need a heavier spring as I'm a bigger person, but I haven't touched much under it on the suspension side of things.

Front track shock you loosen for more ski tighten for less ski pressure and more ski lift. You got it backwards

I know in some of my other videos I talk about how I contradict the user manual but I've found it works this way for my body weight and riding style. I cannot stress enough to play with the clickers until you find the right set up for your riding style as everyone is different.

@@AplusPowerSports any way you dice it if you stiffen the center track shock takes weight of skis. Nothing to with riding styles

What a fantastic video. This really helped as I set up my new '21 XC 850 137. One thing you did mention though is when should you increase/decrease front springs vs increase/decrease shock? I"m 6-2 and about 230 pounds. So far I've left everything to factory preset. Front seems to push into corner more than I like.

That's great to hear! I don't recommend adjusting the pre load of the spring its self as it makes large changes to the suspension. First make sure you have good carbides on the sled, I always run 8" singles on my 137 Indy's. At 230lbs I would suggest turning up your torsion springs in the rear to the high setting. If they are already at the high setting Polaris does offer a HD torsion spring kit which will help keep the "bite" in the corners. If you have more questions please call A+ Power Sports 262-723-8822 and ask for Kole

Great Video. i hear a few people say for getting the skis off the ground easier for wheelies and stuff is to tighten the front track shock and to soften the rear one ( and torsion spring) ....however you mention to tighten the front track shock as well?
@AplusPowerSports
@AplusPowerSports 3 года назад
If you are looking to get a wheelie out of your snowmobile loosen your front limiter strap to the second hole. Also if you have an Indy XC or XCR there is a rear block in front of the rear idler wheels if you turn that to the small setting it will allow the suspension to lift the skis easier.

Good explanation, I’ll play with the settings next time I’m out. Would low speed compression mean going softer?

Yes make adjustments to your suspension to find the perfect ride for you and your riding style.

Hey thanks man I love this video. Very thorough explanation I'm fairly new to snowmachines and I'm a bit scared to make adjustments because of my budget. I'm probably about 280 and my shocks feels too soft on the skiis. Turning corners I always have to seriously lean over so thank you. Also do you have a video for the matryx chassis? My lady is about 250 and she sits on it the rail goes down what I feel is a bit too much. Again, thank you great video!

Hey Kole, I enjoy all the videos you guys do. Just breaking in my 2021 Indy Adventure 850 Axys with a 137" Storm 150 track. Love the sled and the track. Just getting some push and ski lift in the corners. Im about 175lbs including gear.. My suspension setup is: RTS..6 clicks from soft FTS..4 clicks from soft IFS..3 clicks from soft Haven't touched the spring preloads and carbides are stock. Any suggestions?
@AplusPowerSports
@AplusPowerSports 2 года назад
First I would change your carbides to a 6" Single that will cure the ski push. If you are getting lift in the corners it seems like your IFS are a little too sift I would go up to 5 clicks and see if that helps the lifting.

Im having a bit of a tough time with this. I just bought a 2021 Polaris Assault .. the suspension at the back of the machine is very very soft. Im a big guy at 265. So when I stand on the machine. It basically takes all of the suspension and almost bottoms itself it out. Like it’s very very soft … what would u suggest I do? Firm up the rear torsion spring? Also I noticed going into corners I tend to not have a good bite at all … I will have shop take a look at the carbides first. But I don’t know what issue to attack first? If I adjust the rear torsion spring will this eliminate both my issues? And put more weight on the front but at the same time making the rear suspension firmer and stiffer? I appreciate all your help. Thanks!!!

First you could set your stock torsion springs to the HIGH setting and see if that helps if it still isn't perfect. I would suggest purchasing the next heavier torsion spring this is going to help keep the suspension at a useable height. Then you will be able to adjust your clickers to fine tune to your riding style. The stock carbides are only a 4" I usually run a single 8" carbide made by Snowstuds and they always handle great for me but I recommend at least a 6" carbide. Try these few things if that doesn't work you can always contact me again.

What about preload on the springs ?
@AplusPowerSports
@AplusPowerSports 3 года назад
The spring preload will make big changes to the handling of the shock I always recommend trying to adjust the clickers to get the best handling before touching the preload. You can look in your owners manual to see the amount of adjustment you can do to your spring if you need to.
@MNsledder

So you can change the rear track shocks to different click settings?
@AplusPowerSports
@AplusPowerSports 3 года назад
Yes on the Indy and Assault's all of the shocks have clickers on them and they can be adjusted to your riding style.
