The worst distortion of Peeta for me is "I almost thought that kiss was real" like WHAT? Peeta is not petty, he doesn't throw shade at her. Also when Haymitch says the most iconic line "You could live 100 lifetimes and not deserve this boy" Katniss says "C'mon no one good wins the games" WHICH IS HER EXACT OPPOSITE RESPONSE IN THE BOOKS. She acknowledges he is the one of high character and integrity that she and Haymitch lack. Wtf
That’s why I don’t particularly like the movies too be honest…they cut out like all of Peeta and Katniss’s interactions and Peeta’s character. Them doing the book together, the whole time they were in the cave during the first games, them being together before the quarter quell, their relationship during the victory tour. They focused so much on Katniss and Gale for some reason. Then they didn’t have all the issues Gale and Katniss were having with Gale becoming darker and slightly depraved with his actions like not caring about her prep team being tortured, coming up with the weapons and bombs, and his actions at the nut which made Katniss uncomfortable and slightly disgusted. Leaving out Peetas leg being lost and how Portia was killed and the murder of the avoxes. They ruined Peetas character in the movies. I remember thinking if I watched this movie and never read the books I would have no clue why she choose Peeta. They downplayed their entire relationship. In the books to me Peeta was always the one for Katniss her thoughts on Peeta compared to Gale were night and day.
They definitely should have focused more on the slow build of Katniss and Peeta's relationship. After finding out it was all fake, Peeta fell straight into the friend role without protest and I missed those interactions in the movies
@@CJs_Galaxy I don't completely agree with this take. It's true that Peeta handled his feelings for Katniss better than Gale, but at times he was still petty. Like he was still very upset with Katniss "faking" her feelings for him, he just showed it in a different way. Like he deliberately ignored her for weeks after they came back from the games. But he was mature enough to own up for his wrongs.
