I love your response to other people's OCD reactions to your shop. "I'm the one working here and if I'm okay with it, you should be too." Enjoyed watching and listening to you and seeing Laurel's cute little face. The move to the second floor at the antique mall is gonna give your treasures a lot more exposure to the people that don't mind paying fourteen hundred for a vase. Jocelyn, I started watching you a couple years ago on a fluke! You had me hooked right away. I have also watched all your back videos and I also watch Dagny-FlyingPigThrifts. I look forward to a new video and watch every single day. Laurel is gorgeous! I decided to comment because I have OCD but have found it manifests itself in many ways. When you commented that the offers to help you organize wouldn’t work and you had to do it yourself, I thought bingo!! Someone actually gets what I’ve been saying. My house looks like your studio or closer to the hoarder house you clean (at least others say this). I know where things are however. I had some health problems and slept a lot and got far behind my projects. That makes me overwhelmed. But I have to reorganize my self without criticism. So thank you for stating my obvious solution. You lost your employees and bought a new house, rebuilt your older one and had a baby! I would think people would kindly offer but realize your vision must be accomplished by you. Thank you for being my bright spot in everyday! Love Crazy Lamp Lady!!

Debra, I had a similar experience (mine was severe depression that led to physical health issues) and have also declined others' help to "organize" because I need to go through things and get rid of what I don't want or need, and then know where I put the stuff I'm keeping or I'll never find it again. Haha! Also, my family looks at things and thinks it's just old dishes or glass and then I show them sold comps for $80 for one plate and their attitude changes. LOL I'm cleaning up and selling one little bit at a time and that's the only way it can be done. You're not alone and good for you knowing yourself and doing things in a way that makes you comfortable.

My Dad was a small business owner for most of my life. He seemed to thrive in the same type of environment. I would try to "tidy up" for him and it would drive him crazy because then he didn't know where things were. :)

Being a crafter and treasure hunter - I can relate to "getting there eventually..." ... I keep saying that as I bring more home! 😁 But I have been making progress - even if it's just a small section at a time. There's something satisfying about that. And thanks to you I found an Eldrith piece of redware in the wild last week! 😊 It's got an Americana red white and blue vibe... Kinda cool! Anyway keep plugging away - you're right - we'll eventually get there! Blessings!

I can understand your process, my sister and I were in retail management her office was organized to the max, my office cluttered, she couldn't understand my process however I knew exactly where every invoice, clerk shift reports, and inventory reports were located, she didn't understand lol, some will understand you while others may not, it's okay, you do you, thanks for sharing

Yes, move to the new booth! The best part of it is the window where you can display colored glass and the light can shine through it! And, I speaking from having worked in a store where we had cocktail shopping parties, tipsy people spend a lot of money!! It would be good to have your items near those people! haha One of out biggest shopping parties in the early evening was also a gold-selling party where people brought their gold to sell to someone we brought in and then had cocktails and spent their new money on OUR merchandise!

Like so many others, I love the shop videos too! Your chaos makes me feel less guilty about my own. I do mine part time out of my tiny basement and it's hard to organize down there! And please keep tacking on the candid videos of sweet baby Laurel, Ashton, Juliette and Andrew. (but especially Laurel, lol. I'm going to have my first grandchild in about 6 weeks and she makes me want him to be here already.) Enjoy your beautiful family!!

Wow, well you do have tons of merchandise, but, I remember when they shut things down, it was harder to get stuff, so having so much stacked for continuous posting and having stuff to pull from actually seems like a good idea to me. You are doing alot. Another employee to help with shipping and moving stuff around etc sounds like a great idea too, especially now with little cutie new baby girl, expanding family and new house too. You are indeed amazing.

I’m with you ! Everyone is different with their workspace. I have a sewing room as I sew and quilt, just as a hobby. My lovely daughter says , Mom you have got to clean this space up and get organized. So we did together it looks beautiful very pleasing to look at. Everything has been put on shelves, colour co ordinated just great. I spend most of my time looking for things that I need for certain projects , my OCD is still loving how great it looks! Stick to your guns and don’t let anyone touch your stuff!

My youngest son is moving to VA for grad school so we’re turning his room into a guest room. That means the main room in the basement becomes my “shop” to organize my inventory. The room I use now is so crowded with not only my stuff but storage too. You are so inspiring to me so thank you. 🥰

I operate in organized chaos a good share of the time, so I understand your shop and how you function. Every so often things get to a depth for me that I have to dig in and get the level back to something more manageable. If I can’t find something, that’s telling me it’s time. I love your shop videos. My friends offer to help me "get organized" too..I tell them thank you but I know where everything is, seriously. It's how "creatives" do. :) Though sometimes I find things that I forgot...but it's like finding an unopened present you forgot...I have learned alot from you...You do great commentary. I don't know how you can just rattle off so much info so effortlessly...Do what works for you...

Hospital Wednesday and Thursday for blood transfusion before surgery Tuesday I am catching up on videos. Laurel is such a blessing. I have OCD but have deep respect for everything you do and the shop. I was thinking about how you get to enjoy the beautiful things you buy without hoarding them you get to always appreciate something new. What can be overwhelming is when inventory is a little too much and you can’t find time to relax and appreciate the finds. But somehow you always find a way to juggle everything.

I enjoy all of your videos; especially your shop videos. I'm sitting in my home office processing my inventory for my booth and ebay. Thank you for taking us on your business journey. I learn so much from you. Sometimes when I run into business conundrums I ask myself, "Self, what would Jocelyn do?" Yup. Always works for me! I totally get what you say in that even if it looks like chaos, it makes sense to you and you can find what you’re looking for. When I went away to college for my first semester, my mom cleaned my room because it looked chaotic to her…and I could find nothing because I knew where it all was. You’ve got to work your own way at your own pace, so it’s not stressful for you…which is the most important. Love your videos and wish you all the best in your new booth space! You guys are awesome!!!

Watching this two years after it was posted, I was struck by how many things have changed: Laurel was an infant, you were apprehensive about trying a new “what-Not”, a new guy-Jessie- was coming to work for you… and you were considering the upper floor booth at Carlisle antiques! 😃😎🤣wow, things have changed and all for the better! My office was always organized chaos. Someone would stop by and ask for something and say if you could get it to me by tomorrow, and I would pull it out of a stack of files while they were still standing at my door. They would just shake their head as they walked away😂

As a reseller, Whatnot is all I've been hearing about. We were in the auction business, so love those kind of live sales. Knowing the prep for that, I can't imagine trying to source and prep enough to have a sale every week, much less 2-3 times per week. And I think it's addictive for buyer's, and not in a good way. Just my opinion, but beware and do your research, and do what's best for you!

I think having new help with moving the bigger furniture out will free up a lot of your space, the bulky stuff takes up a lot of the room. Maybe you need more shelving units to get some stuff off the floors. In the end you just do you. Love the shop videos.

I was the same way with my office! If someone used my desk on my day off and moved anything, I couldn't work until everything was where it belonged. And I knew where everything was. It's a nightmare trying to work when everything has been moved to somewhere else!

Thing 1- I love the shop videos! Thing 2-I am one of those people who always knows where stuff is amidst the chaos. When I was teaching, my assistant tried to clear up some space by taking care of some of my piles. Of course, I could no longer find my stuff! Thing 3- I think Laurel looks like Juliette. Me and my mom just applied for whatnot aswell! We got accepted very fast actually! We haven’t done a sale yet but I think they are starting to cater to our side of resale! They started mainly for people who did Trading Cards and other Pop culture types. I think it’ll work out great for you if you do, just have to get the word out there at how good of a spot it can be for buying pieces

I really don't understand why people get involved to the point that they get triggered by something that really has nothing to do with them. You're right when you say that it only matters how YOU feel as you are the one working there. I hate that you feel the need to explain yourself. I would say, if anything in the video bugs someone, they can just not watch that particular video. Easy. Anyway, God bless.
