Hope this was nice and fair enough for Yehua. If one day, a male character surpasses Love and Destiny's Jiuchen's "perfection", we'll say something nice about Jiuchen too.
I really like how the drama realized that actions have consequences, main lead or not. Mo Yuan lost his life by breaking a treaty for bai Qian. Bai qian lost ye hua because she refused to listen to him. Ye Hua lost su su because he was so busy trying to keep her safe that he forgot about the person he was keeping "safe". Su jin's eyes were taken away and she lost everything. Li jing lost si yin by cheating on him. I just wish the heavenly emperor had consequences for his BS too. He was constantly causing trouble.
honestly li jing's sin is more forgivable as he was deceived by that THING. had he had more control over his lust and saw that si yin was out of character. he would have seen through the spell and not do what he did. strangely he was the one i sympathized with the most. the rest of the cast got what they deserved.
@@RoseNZieg actually, he doesn't deserve to be forgiven because HE KNEW that witch wasn't Si YIn. She transformed in FRONT of him. He even looked towards the entrance of the cave right after the transformation to where Si Yin JUST left when she exited the cave just to confirm. So he knew and he consented. It's all on him. I did like him and pity him (something unexpected because i detest his slimeball character in the novel. Kudo to the actor!), and even want him to find his own happiness, and eventually feel that he somewhat redeemed himself, even if it wasn't a redemption for his betrayal of Si Yin but his redemption to become a better ruler for his people.
In the movie version Su Jin tells Bai Qian "what he feels for Susu is not love but regret, and what he feels for you is not love but compensation" and I love love love Ye Hua, but Su Jin was kinda right.
I was a little disturbed a couple years ago when I realized that Yehua was like... barely legal... Then love and destiny... also barely legal??? Then I realized this year as well that Bai Fengjiu... is also barely legal in immortal years... What is up this these immortal middle aged ppl and knocking barely legal kids up....
@@BBISBORED I think years are irrelevant at this point... but from what I remember yehua was younger than fengjiu was when he first met baiqian... and fengjiu went through her coming of age ceremony (the sword ceremony thing) AFTER tying the knot with donghua... In conclusion... most of them were not even technically legal... ew...?

Ye Hua and Mo Yuan are my all time favorite. Jiu Chen is great, but he doesn’t capture me the same way. I’m only judging by how long it took me to get out of the hole. Eternal Love took me a whole month and Love and Destiny took a week. I guess I still prefer Ye Hua’s look.
Haha love this character deep dive. It's reassuring to know that xianxia romance dramas aren't just brain candy but can be unpacked on a deeper level. I enjoyed this drama, but never obsessed over it, and your character analysis really helped me explain why. In any case, I've gotten a newfound appreciation for the flawed characterization in this drama
"His constant fear of baiqians judgement" Well, as he learns that SS is not the mere mortal that she is and that there's been a lot of guys from her past who are big deal. Well. It's reasonable.
1:11 is where I'm at with him. I really just don't care for his character. He was the worst thing that ever happened to Bai Qien and he's so wrapped up in his own feelings that he could never see that.
@@vvemily922 the only confirmed project he has was the omniyoji (spelled that wrong) movie series with deng lun etc. any other projects would be rumors for now.
Yes yes yes. Oh my god yes. Thank you for bringing the fact that even though Ye Hua sacrifices a lot for Bai Qian, none of those were done with her permission nor consent. This really bothered me throughout the drama, thank you for putting it into words for me!
Yeah..... I guess it’s a preference, but this drama TMOPB was not one of my favorites of either character in terms of character development/maturity. But you were absolutely on point when you noted that Bian Qian is the only one who can only put up with Ye Hua & Ye Hua is the only one who can put up with Bian Qian. I have a question. Do you think Mo Yuan would've surpass Jiuchen had he not turned into sleeping beauty? I agree that Jiuchen is the perfect male leading character in all of chinese immortal/mortal dramas.
Possibly not. Moyuan, from what we saw, makes a lot of mistakes too (breaking a peace treaty to rescue Bai Qian and such) and those mistakes lead to a war and then his death. In terms of characterization, Moyuan is not perfect (which is a good thing😅).
I just can't forgive Yehua for the eyes. But then the other one literally lets their significant other die and suffer and was gonna lock them up in an ice prison? Comparing them, I really don't like either option 😅 I choose Donghua. Haha wasn't expecting a three lives the world's video, good analysis :)
Donghua! Yes, he will get his own analysis too :) Yep, neither Yehua nor Jiuchen is more mature or more reliable than the other. In Yehua’s case, though, at least his mistakes are acknowledged 😁
@@quippequest ELOD I can't wait! There are so many questionable love stories in these shows, but I guess thats where the drama comes from. Which I love of course. Though I would like to see you compare it to a rarely seen healthy functional relationship. Good luck finding one haha. The only one I can think of is one between two support charcaters in The legend of flying daggers 2016, between Longyi annnd I can't remember the female charcaters name :)

Why baixian Kingdom still exist? Because it's Belgium 🤣🤣🤣 she had said she let her underlings run free, she even let them make war with eachother to prevent boredom. Her palace built on cave, eventhough it was potray way more bigger than the heaven kingdom 😂. That's why it was the heaven Kingdom that didn't want to let the marriage go. They're the one that need her power position. Her Kingdom doesn't necessarily need leader but they choose one just incase, that's the charm of her Kingdom for me.
This is late but while I do agree that both Ye Hua and Bai Qian are the only ones who can put up with each other in a relationship (The other ladies chasing after Ye Hua would run the other away once they got a taste of life with his family), the other thing that made me want Ye Hua stay in the rain for another month was his forcing himself on her (Bai Qian) due to getting jealous of her relationship with Mo Yuan. It's not touched on here but his clamming up on it and then lashing out to Bai Qian who has no idea what's going on in his mind pissed me off on Ye Hua and wished he suffered for that as well along with the SuSu thing, but alas the series just brushes that part aside and forgets it after Bai Qian gave him a weak slap on the face when he stopped. I didn't though, and it's probably one of the main reasons I'm not giving the series a re-watch (the bad juggling between different stories was another one).
Definitely, Yehua is really wrong for forcing himself on Bai Qian that time. Nothing is clear between them yet but he is way too aggressive. I believe this has to do with the acting too. The audience are told later on that Bai Qian wanted to be with Yehua, but the acting makes it look like she was super uncomfortable and had no say in it at all.
I know you get a lot of recommendations and this is probably going to get buried, but here it goes: Consider watching Untouchable Lovers. In my opinion, it's low-key good quality. If you can disregard the first couple of episodes(and the weird misogynistic message at the very beginning) and are able to sit through it till around episode 8-10, I think it becomes quite apparent. Although the synopsis just makes it sound like a really cliche drama(which put me off initially), I actually found it quite refreshing and novel. I think the direction, script writing and acting are pretty high quality. It's quite clear that an honest amount of effort was put into the production. It's surprisingly realistic in it's depiction of romance and has a relatively logically consistent script without blatant plot holes. Is it on the level of Rise of Phoenixes? No. But it's the first drama I have been able to appreciate since I watched ROP. I think you might like it. Another big plus is the absence of blatantly fake flowers😁
Bai Qian should have been with Mo Yuan 😭😭 like WTF was this show? Ye Hua was okay and what-not but he wasn't a good fit for her AT ALL and I don't believe for a second that Bai Qian wasn't in love with Mo Yuan, the way she acted and treated him wasn't just respect and admiration. I feel so robbed and I want JUSTICE!!!!
@@quippequest honestly at this point i'm ready for a "perfect"man. tired of the "how much could we eff this up before we realize our mistakes" trope. it will make for a short series but I'm ok with that too.
Gotcha. Yes, there's a line between making mistakes but still remaining a likable character and being downright irritating. Yehua probably crossed that line in a lot of viewers' eyes. Good thing we know Bai Qian can even with him if she wants to :D
I can't with the "Wattpad Boyfriend" comment🤣 and especially "An IQ they are said to have but never seem to use" pretty much sums up most "intelligent" main character in Cdramas
I started to watch "Eternal Love" but I quit as it as I don't like the appearance of the main male character and find him boring. I wish the Prince of the Ghost tribe was the main character instead, he is much more interesting and handsome.
