Jinshi is ENTIRELY himself around her now. Salty, annoyed, bullheaded... and it's perfect. The more he drops the act, the more Maomao likes what she sees.

I find the fact that Lakan, who has been fighting a disability his entire life, is the only one who can see how beautiful Fengxian is to be quite wonderful

After I understood how much Lakan loves his daughter, now I kinda understand his face when he saw the guard hit Maomao. That's his rage face.

MeiMei legitimately has a huge crush on Lakan and has had one since she was younger. So not only did she give up her own opportunity at happiness, she made sure that Lakan could be with the person that *he loved*

A thing to take note of, is that since Maomao's parents have now married, it means Maomao herself is considered a true-born child of a noble clan. Which is quite important in regards to her and Jinshi's potential future.

At that moment, everyone knew she would say something stupid and headbutt.

I was suprised how many tears I wept for Lakan and Mei Mei here. I bawled throughout the scene especially when Lakan looked at Feixhan (sic) and found her still beautiful. I wouldn't call their ending "happy" because her mind is lost, but she will pass in comfort and with the hidden realization she was loved.

So this isn't covered much in the anime (there's only 1 quick scene with little Maomao and Loumen). In the manga there's a page or two on it. Lakan hung around the Verdigris house in in hopes of finding out what happened to his daughter and one day runs into Loumen and Maomao. He sees her crooked little finger and realizes that she is his daughter but when he reaches out for her she moves to Louman for protection. Lakan realizes that his uncle is raising her. The panel is somewhat heartbreaking because as he watches them walk away he thinks to himself "I don't want to live a life surrounded by chess pieces, I just want to be with my daughter." It's chapter 37 in the manga if you want to look it up and see the scene for yourself.

We love this show. My wife has a theory that Fengxian was the old mamasan daughter and Maomao grandmother and that is the reason she never got rid of her like it happens with others. Also, that the mamasan was bitter because she was also left pregnant without being bought.

after knowing what Lakan went through. I can't help but root for the guy.

I cant wait for season 2. The frog.

i loved this show so much. Maomao is such a fun main character and I love her dynamic with Jinshi

In *ch 37* and *ch 39* of the manga, it gives more context of why Maomao has an odd relationship with her dad. The anime didn't have some parts, so it gives more explanation for why she dislikes him from how she saw him as a child (the anime has a quick image for this shown with child Maomao), and she doesn't want him to replace Luomen as her father.

The frog 🐸 incident will be hilarious, cant wait 😆

Something of note, Jin shi did not get her the promised poison yet. The thing shes admiring at the end of episode is the gift she got during the mid season finale

I almost died with the scene with Maomao asking for the ox' bezoar in the manga... but the anime overdid it with Maomao's shiny eyes and the silent pauses between the two xD I knew back then it would be something stupid but I was still hoping it wasn't. Well, it was. Great reaction as always! I'm so hyped for season 2 >w

The animation and voice acting just draw you into forgetting its animation. One of a few I've gotten truly invested in. Intelligent and visually stunning. I've watched this sucker in a loop after each last episode and not bored yet.

4:50 this is why i love reactions to anime or games. Moments like these, goves you a whole new experience through the eyes and/pr experience of another person. The feeling when you're watching it solo, is different from when you are watching with someone react to it. The feels is like ramped up to what is usually an 11 becomes a 12

Maomao must look serious and respectful with higher-ups, so when jinshi shows his true self, he invites her to do the same.

This is my anime of the year. The story was amazing. Can't wait for season 2

that episode was a beautiful ending Lakan reuniting with his love and Maomao dancing under the stars it was truly magnificient I cried at that episode not just because it's the end of the first season but also all the emotions in it you can truly feel them I can't wait for season 2

I don’t know if you have ever seen the original “Spice and Wolf” but the a remake with a more loyal story to the book is coming out very soon. That was a great anime so maybe this one will also be good. They made a game but don’t look it up because it can be a bit of a spoiler. Big, big, big fan of Holo the wise wolf.

One thing I learned about reading the LN was never take Maomao's POV at face value. It's what she thinks, some things might just be assumptions.

Why she know that Meimei love Maomao’s father? That’s kinda hard thing to discover for basically most of reacter.

Seeing these 2 great animes come to an end I must ask , what happened to "a sign of affection" you seemed really into that and I was really looking fwrd to the reactions.

If she loved this show that much, she would love 'nirvana in fire'.
