Churchill being the most expensive hero by far and being one of the slowest to level up, I still think he needs something special to make him worth using over other heroes. Piercing through objects, maybe? Super large range for cannon, smaller range for the machine gun? I love Churchill, but there's no scenario where he's worth using over Adora, Sauda, or even Etienne
He needs his machine gun at level 1, if you ask me. He's already a brutal early game saveup on CHIMPS, and once you get him down his lack of consistency post-rework means you can easily die anyway. That or make AP rounds give the old firerate with the new damage, but that might make him too centralized on his ability.
hes honestly just too expensive and levels slowly due to his price and late placement in the game compared to other heros, I would have been fine with the changes being price reduction by a decent amount rather than changing his damage but I dont think he will get more use from these changes anyways
I was reading the wiki, and Final Harmonic is actually pretty good to buff for heroes specifically: 15% more range and 15% CD reduction on their abilities to any heroes in the hypnosis area.
Right, in this videoni believe isab missed the buff the whole time but it was because its more practical to stall at angles for Churchill than it was to have him in radius
another thing the mermonkey could hypothetically do although definitely not efficient is to drop down a top path in order to be able to use a top path monkey submarine on maps that dont have any water without using monkey money (along side its good damage on its own and pierce buffs)
Correction: the totem is specifically what gives the buff. If it is moved away from the hero but the mermonkey is still near it, it won’t give the buff
@@jackbob83 The confusion is probably in whether you place the totem or not. If the totem is not placed somewhere then it's just the range of the Mermonkey since it is the totem in this case. If you have the totem placed though the Mermonkey loses any totem affects. Including the ability to buff those in range. The totem itself of course keeps the buffs. Totem placed = Mermonkey gives no direct buff. Totem not placed = Mermonkey is the totem = Mermonkey gives buff in range.
Having Churchill be, BY FAR, the most expensive hero in the game while also being the slowest to level AND for as little reward as he is, is ridiculous. And don't forget they added fortified bonus dmg to Adora because there was, and I quote: "no fortified bloon bonus damage niche in heroes" when Churchill literally had exactly that prior to Adora, that shows how considered he is by NK. Then they're shocked that he's the least used hero in the entire game by a landslide xd
This nerf will absolutely solidify his demise because even the casuals who used him before with cash drops will now see that "he shoot super slow and is bad"! So now there won't even be that.
It's not also, the totem is actually the only thing that gives the buff after you place it somewhere. If you place TFH with the hero in its range, the hero will lose the buff if you place the totem somewhere else.
I think churchill's early game needs to be stronger, his save up can be pretty hard some times since you want to place him as early as possible, but even if you manage to get him, he isn't a guarantee early game pass. like sauda or adora. even something like giving him his machine gun at level one, with a slower firing speed would do wonders to make him better early game. he also levels way too slowly, with no good way to level him as well. not getting level 20 on an intermediate chimps is a crime, and other slow levelers like sauda and corvis have ways to give themselves more xp for a cost. I think it would be cool if the more military towers near churchill, the more xp he gains or something. since most heroes buff other towers, it would be cool for the reverse where a hero gets buffed by the other towers, much like how in real life tanks need infantry support to go with them
I like the idea of nearby military monkeys giving him an xp multiplier, probably based on their total price, And level 1 machine gun is absolutely a necessity since he's way less consistent with his main gun now.
it feels like churchills role has either been “buff up to do crazy work” or “drop in a decisive position for a super undemanding power boost” and in both regards he’s gotten worse lmao lowering attack rate is sooooooo bad
This actually nerfed Churchill. He depends on straight lines more than ever and his early game absolutely tanked, along with a current bug that doesn't give him the correct bonus damage he just kind of struggles now... he's ranked at C Tier on the current tier list, a tier *worse* than before where he was B- Tier.
What was up with that rework man? Turning Churchill into an even more inconsistent hero for sudden random realism just because he fires too fast for a tank? He can't even reliably do anything before getting his minigun now. If NK really wants to stick to that nonsense rework, they better give him better leveling and an earlier minigun. Because he's just currently a 2k investment that is really bad until the minigun comes up. And his main cannon deserves to have even more damage.
You can keep Churchill set to target strong. That only affects the cannon. The machine gun will continue to target first. Keeping him set to first can cause him to waste some damage unless it's getting him to fire in line with the bloons to take advantage of the cannon's pierce. (Similarly, depending on the map and the placement, setting him to Last can be good sometimes. Churchill excels at dealing with straight lines.) (Also, it's not a minigun. It's just a normal machine gun.)
TFH’s totem actually gives the hero buff, not the tower itself. There wasn’t really a good spot for both stalling and buffing churchill in this case but it’s less of a meme for hero 2mpc than it seems like, especially if there’s water far from the track.
Did you watch the video?? He needed a max level adasaurus, a ninja, and $3k money spent on upgrading Churchill just to get past 24. That’s not “ez early game” at all!
@@mr.newvegas1704 That's only because he's doing a 2mpc and so is buying towers that do as little as possible, if he just put his towers in good spots like a normal game it would've been different
I feel like the problem with Churchill is that if I wanted an expensive, offensive, buffable hero, I'd use Adora. She is also slow to level, and very expensive when you sacrifice (which also undoes the slow leveling downside), but her way of dealing damage is just so much more consistent. She also is way better for being buffed, because she shoots multiple lower damage projectiles instead of just one big damage one. She even has a less problematic bloon that counters her, being purples. Black bloons are part of the ceramic bloon line, zebras are also black bloons, and DDTs are black bloons. Purples only appear on specific rounds and aren't too common. Her only real downside compared to Churchill is that she lacks built-in camo detection, but that is one of the easiest downsides to fix in this game
Adora can even just... use her level 3 ability to pop purples. It lasts long enough for every purple round besides 62 and 95 and by then you most likely have many other towers to help her out.
I genuinely think this is a nerf, because Churchill is the type of hero you'd always want to alch-buff. So that buff being overall weaker for hhs main attack now is probably not worth it. At best I'd call it a sidegrade.
A targeting prio for the Canon as well as the Minigun would be awesome. Just do it the same as Robo, even if you can't have both on the same targeting.
Challenge idea: Beat chimps with a rainbow of towers 1 red 1 orange 1 yellow 1 green 1 blue 1 purple All placed from either left to right or top to bottom to make a rainbow line of monkeys 🎉 Lots of creativity to be had with this one
The appeal of churchill is that he is just raw popping power and self sufficient because he can hit camos, leads, black balloons, white balloons, and purples all on his own but doesnt offer any support or buffs to any other class of tower
Gotta say, testing the most expensive hero in the game in chimps where you can't leak anything and don't get a free dart monkey before getting him is certainly a pro gamer move
12:18 I'm sure I'm not the first to say this but the thing that makes the mermonkey give cooldown reduction is the song, not the mermonkey itself, so if you put the totem in range of a tower, it will get the cooldown reduction
TBH I think this is a slight nerf. 3x damage is not as good as 3x attack speed since high damage can lose dps on overkill (Think top path sniper vs a horde of reds) while high atk spd is universally good. Even if lvls 1-8 got a buff on paper, early game is when you’re most likely to waste damage on overkill. Churchill is better late game now because of minigun buff, but I think he’s worse in early game before he gets minigun. Unfortunately, early game is where Churchill struggles the most. Still, he gets a buff in his niche as one of the heroes to bring into free play, as his damage ceiling is higher than any other hero except maybe Ezili.
Something I really wish NK would add is like a button or tab on selected towers that let's you view their current stats, because most players aren't going to have stats, especially hero stats, memorized and many stat increases from upgrades aren't shown in the regular info tab.
I heavily enjoy this change, regardless if churchill is better or worse, i'll actually use him a bit more now, he feels more unique and actually like a heavy duty tank
It'd be really neat if, similar to the middle path boat, churchill could focus multiple (like, up to 5, maybe?) missile streams on single big bloons. it'd make it feel so much more powerful on rounds 97 & 100.
0:55 I'm glad I'm not the only person who initially thought this was going to be a buff due to the on-paper stats not going for the harmonic ability cooldown decrease for heroes ;^;
18:46 my wife and her family use this word all. The. Time. We have a word for this in the English language. It’s called “thaw”….. why does no one use this word?! 😂😂😂 even worse sometimes her family says “unthaw” to which I almost kill myself….. it’s absolute madness.
Man, I love how Churchill’s getting some serious love lately! 🎉 He's definitely gonna change the way we play. It's like giving a classic car a turbo engine, right? Can't wait to see what crazy strategies pop up with him now! 🚗💨
Thematically, I very much like the change, it makes a lot more sense for a tank and slow, heavy hitters have always been fun to me. Practically, though... I really think the cannon change is a nerf. Unfortunately, BTD6 is pretty heavily biased towards fast-firing synergies, most of the buffs in the game are additive when it comes to damage. Also in the early game, although there are some notable rounds with grouped bloons (where the new cannon would excel) the vast majority of rounds are fairly evenly spaced fast bloons, terrible for slow heavy hitters. At the very least until you get the machine gun, Churchill is much less suited to early rounds. Honestly I'm still fine with it, but they might need to lower the price on him to make him worth considering; you get him around the same time you could also be getting the much more reliable out of the gates Dragon Breath or a similar mid-game option. He just doesn't scale fast enough to really feel worth it, though he's fun to use.
churchill tbh needs a MASSIVE BUFF, the most expensive heroe costs 2k to place down yet is one of the weakest? doesent make much sense. bump monkey money cost of churchill to 5k and absolutely buff him till oblivion, tripe the damage idk just ninja kiwi buff him
If the harmonic she'll were in range of Churchill he could have had a pretty nice buff. Not sure if that would have been better or worse, cause where you had it I think his cannon had better peirce options with the new bloons that arrived, but is a neat feature that could have potentially helped buff churchill.
I think they should give slow xp gaining heros adura's sacrifice ability with specific towers, like Churchill can sacrifice teir 3 bomb shooters only or corvus with teir 3 wizards
so now they gonna nerf sauda as well, as jumping jumping tens of meters, flying trough the map multiple times while also cloning herself on multilane maps and slicing with speed of light doesn’t match a real monkey with swords?? this is just a fun game there is no need to put real life logic in it…
He got a bit worse for crods firing slower and stuff but is way stronger. Being able to solo a round 1 BAD on Meadow and beat round 100 with just him, a 0-2-5 tack and a glaive lord at the end of the map for ceramics. So yeah that is kinda OP.
As a Churchill main, my opinion on this is… mixed. On one hand, Churchill has pretty much always not been at his true potential until you hit level 5 or 6, and this rework undeniably makes him stronger once he’s gotten the ball rolling. However, he still performed *fine* until then before this update, while now he feels like a total dud until you get that machine gun. Between that, his massive price, and slow leveling, you now have to wait what feels like a *century* before you have an actual, functional tower. Churchill had this problem before, of course, but certainly not to the degree he’s at now. I think that while I’m overall happy with the changes to Churchill (he certainly does feel like a *literal tank* now), I think he could still use a minor buff to make up for that *terrible* startup. Either cut his price by a *small* amount, or make it so that he levels significantly faster until he gets his machine gun. That way Churchill can actually get the ball rolling in time to make it count.
I did some testingbwith church on what was one of his best hard maps, sanctuary, and uhh... he's useless now lol. His earlygame was already bad, but dur to attacking even slower it's even worse, what I heard was he used to be used for rounds like 55 and 63... where now with alch buff, at least on 63, at the level he would be, each wave leaks clusters of cerams, a ungodly amount of pinks, and a large amount of blacks and white in beween, if not a ungodly amount of blacks and whites or ceramics, each wave. And I tested about 21 ceram waves using a village and alch, it is laughable how bad he does now. This is because he has less dps now thanks to Alch buff prefering low damage fast attacking towers, combined with... him attacking slower, meaning if he shoots once to the left, before he could get say 3 or 4 shots down the middle, now he'll only get 1. Even the idea of him layerskipping doesn't work because his damage isn't quite high enough at that point, level 9 btw, with level 3 he will do decent enough against cerams but still not good enough to be worth using over say, hiding ben behind a los blocker... and his lategame dps is worse than Quincy... assuming churchill is level 20. So yeah, NK should undo this change, then add +1 damage to each level and keep the machine gun
The Beast Handler needs a full rework. I want to play with this awesome tower, but it doesn't have any use cases outside of dominating your whole strategy and/or gimmicks
beast handler is really useful for really hard expert maps (especially customs) and condor has some great uses for stalling. it is a bit of a weird tower for sure but it does have plenty of use.
It kills me how slow he levels. It’s so annoying because lvl20 heroes aren’t even strong late game. Like yeah they do contribute but they’re not op for instance if he was lvl 16 on round 98 him being lvl 20 wouldn’t break the game…. If his abilities at lvl 20 are too strong nerf it….. it’s so easy I feel like all heroes should hit 20 before round 90. Prob even round 80. Then nerf them to make this appropriate for that lvl up rate.
Old churchill was really good with firerate but moabs in later game would pass him too easely , now he is a tank killer that is too slow to damage basic bloons. Also the machine gun will always aim at first so you can use the cannon to skip layers by leaving him on strong
Ok so the chimps people have already been shitting on churchill and now its completely useless for expert maps. Like even on dark castle his rework simply makes him worse.
I personally like the new rework for Churchil, but for 2000 ingame cash and how slowly he levels I still believe Churchil should feel more worth it as currently he still does not feel anything too special compared to other hero monkeys.
He's terrible, takes forever to buy, and once you do, he's completely useless until he lvls up. Only usable on easy maps that you could beat with something else.
