So deep is the night No moon tonight No friendly star To guide me with its light Be still my heart Silence lest my love should be returning From a world, far apart So deep is the night Oh, lonlely night On broken wings My heart has taken flight And left the dream In my dream, our lips are blending Will my dream be never ending Will your memory haunt me 'til I die ('til I die) Alone am I, deep into the night Waiting for the light Alone am I I wonder why Deep is the night In my dream, our lips are blending Will my dream be never ending Will your memory haunt me 'til I die ('til I die) Alone am I, deep into the night Waiting for the light Alone am I I wonder why Deep is the night

@ GuitarHero. I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my father at the start of the pandemic. I was lucky enough to sing at Carnegie Hall and I know I got my voice from him. He had a beautiful voice.
Such word's and emotion delivered by an absolutely fantastic singer and in my home town....pity I never got to see him sing it in person...... maybe one day.
Chopin Tristesse Lyrics So deep is the night, No moon tonight, No friendly star To guide me with its light; Be still my heart, Silent lest my love should be returning From a world far apart. So deep is the night O lonely night, On broken wings My heart has taken flight And left a dream. In my dream our lips are blending, Will my dream be never ending? Will your mem`ry haunt me till I die? Alone am I, Deep into the night, Waiting for the light, Alone am I, I wonder why? Deep is the night. ~March 8, 2019
There's always a hint of Richard Tauber's Austrian accent when other tenor's sing this - one of Tauber's signature songs. This will always be Tauber's song.
Totally wonderful, I could listen to this man all night, I am SO impressed and actually play this etude on my piano, Thank you so much for sharing your gift of music, your voice, with the world, you truly inspire me.
This is the perfect song and lyrics for The Composer's Dream / The Moonlight Nymph musical multimedia play show where the composer is visited by poet publisher singers who show their lyrics to him and ask permission to attach them to his music and he looks at it and crosses out one word 'no' and writes 'full' 'moon tonight' line and replaces 'blending' with 'kissing' and the singer sings it in English then the other singer shows his lyrics but the composer asks 'what does it mean? But it is sung also in Italian. Hope this beautiful breakthrough attaching poetry lyrics to music will be effective in recalling his dream the night before of a flying dancing nymph.
The ships at war and before sophisticated equipment they were guided by the stars - when night was pitch they were lost and could not defend themselves. He is singing of his impending doom
And on 14th August, 1947, Independence was celebrated at Karachi club. A band was playing and Jinnah was asked about the tune he would like to listen to. This was the song he suggested. It really is beautiful :)
I hope to keep the woman who is now pregnant with my child who constantly has strong mood swings against me sending me away I have given up almost everything to keep her.
While I think he has a lovely voice and tenor timbre..he has not got this song right, far too much licence to pull the time around - far too much rubato...why not sing it as Chopin intended the melody to be?
Lorna Kelly - How do you know what Chopin intended? Perhaps you are prefer the interpretation that is familiar to you? I think Finbar has done a beautiful rendition adapted for his voice & message which is what an artist does.
Half the point in Romantic music is the emotional expression. Chopin and rubato are practically synonymous! What's wrong with his taking some time? He's actually pretty steady most of the time.
