Usually I think of this song about a boy going to war and the dad awaits his return. Wonderful singer's rendition of a powerful and sad song. Let there be peace so no son goes to war anywhere anytime.
To my grandfather Cornielus McGuire, his son and my Uncle Ray McGuire, KIA USMC Guam, and to my dear Mom, Margaret McGuire Gilkenson.. I lost you all years ago, but your memory never fades.
Amazing voice! My dad sang this song for as long as I can remember up to 2 days before he passed 22 years ago. At 66 yrs old, I still cry whenever I hear this song.
This was my mother's favorite song, and she named me after it. It was played at her funeral. I cry whenever I hear it, no matter who is singing it. This is a particularly nice version.
@MaiS Sm I just found this video. I have the same story you do. All through early years I was called Danny Boy. It is a lovely, lovely song with an attachment to the deepest memories. Bless you and those you love. Dan
Have never heard this beautiful man sing before.. and totally astonshied I was.. his voice tore my heart right out of my body, so powerful and beautiful it was... never have I heard such emotion ., his face expressed every ounce of the emotion intended and demanded by this beloved song.. Many great tenors sing this.. and Finbar Wright sang it exactly as I believe that dear Irishman once sang it to his beloved son.. Indeed Finbar Wright has one of the most beautiful voices ever I have heard.. and his amazing rendition of this heartbreaking song is truly a treasure I shall cherish forever.. This serene video was made 10 years ago.. and was found by me just today on a RU-vid search for Danny Boy.. named my first born son Danny as it was my fathers favorite song which often he sang to me in his own lovely Irish tenor.. yes he was Irish as the day is long and rightly so proud of his heritage! So grateful to RU-vid for finding this for me.. it shall remain in my playlist forever! Thank you! Jen999💙
Greetings from Manila, Philippines. I lost my younger brother in a motorcycle accident. His name was Adan, but I call him Danny. He was sweet, a joker and a drinking buddy. Sad, the person who drove the car and bumped him to death escaped from justice. Soon, when our Lord Jesus Christ returns, will see Adan, Danny again. Miss you my brother.
Not the drivers fault . It’s how the cookie crumbled. My friend lost his life in a car accident and his friend also. The Mother of her Son is blaming his Mother. Nobody is to blame as we have freedom to make choices. I lost too and i had to remind myself my husband made his choice to have the operation. Please forgive and move on.
Miss you so much Maury .. since you departed life has been a struggle. Iwill never forget you …. Never. The love of my life. You left too early …. I love you so much. ☘️
@@Mistyeyez2024 my profound apologies. My German is quite limited and I thought that "freundin" was the feminine of "friend", and not "girl-friend". So so sorry for my mistake
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the roses falling It's you, it's you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so. But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying If I am dead, as dead I well may be Ye'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an ave there for me. And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be For you will bend and tell me that you love me And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.
Thank you Donna Stachowski, for the lyrics of the most beautiful song that I have heard in the past sixty years. O Danny Boy and So Deep is the night, are my most beloved songs, and I love Finbar Wright's renditions of these songs. Thank you very much!
@donnastachowski3867 Thank you very much for providing the lyrics to this song, one of two of my favorites, and both sung by Finbar Wright. A great voice. Thanks for reviving beautiful memories in my life.
A good friend of my name Danny Killed in Korea where we served, I think of him every time I here this song. I feel sad. R.I.P. Danny. Semper Fi. USMC 51-55
I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear friend and of the innocence I'm sure you lost in the midst of such horrors. Bless you and thank you for your service to our Nation. Love and respect from Texas. (Please don't be sad)
Wow, THAT's the voice! I just went through a dozen singers covering this piece, and they all fell short at some point. But this is a beautiful, natural, powerful, and tender rendition. This is as close to perfect as a human can come. BRAVO!
@@scottishlore closest I have heard to this is Emmet Cahill.. his beautiful and emotional version also made me cry.. and he too is Irish, so.. Jen999💙☘️
I'm not aware of a better arranged, better performed version of this, with full orchestra. His clarity is astonishing, the breath control here just perfect.
