The way she had to fight to do the writing for her third album is baffling. Thankfully she's with a new label that has given her much more freedom because she is not just an amazing voice but a storyteller too.
She just gets better and better. The second version is, in my opinion, is the best. Because she truly has done it herself. Despite her ex-husband's betrayals. I hope that when River and Remi are older, they see the truth in her lyrics " I will never leave them like you left me. And they will never have to wonder their worth, because unlike you, I'm going to put them first. You know, I'll never walk away, I'll never break their hearts, I'll take care of things, when you leave scars.."
I love love love that you did both of these together! I still tear up when I watch her Idol performance and I’ve seen it MANY times. The original song had the faster tempo like the 2nd version but they broke it down for the Idol performance and it became the iconic version of the song. With her bad divorce, we didn’t know if we’d ever see her perform the song live again, but she came through for her fans and rewrote the lyrics. She’s such an amazing talent. This was the most devastating performance I had ever seen! It broke my heart watching her breakdown. I hate how it all turned out for her in her marriage, but her new version of this song is an incredibly amazing new take on her life and herself. It is beautiful! I saw an interview she did where she said that when she was rewriting this(right before this performance by the way) She realized that it was kind of unfair of her to put all the weight of her own baggage on Brandon(ex-husband) in the first place....to even realize that is soooo mature.
I hadn't seen the second video but even though it's not heartbreaking like the first one, I'm really happy that instead of relying on someone else for love and self-worth, she now knows that she's in charge of her own happiness. It's great to feel love from someone else, but if problems arise it can be sad but your whole world doesn't need to collapse because you deserve happiness yourself.
That back to back was brilliant. Kelly is a rare breed in today's music in particular. Any of her Kellyokes are simply brilliant. Her own catalog is extensive and always vocally brilliant. I think this song is still about parenthood, not lovers or ex-husband. Her dad and she as a parent. Even if it was a terrible divorce, I think he is co-parenting and even if he walked away from her, didn't walked away from his kids(hopefully)
thats how a live performance should be. kelly didnt even move a muscle. she had everyone in the palm of her hand there, the whole country. the song blew up after that. kelly went back into the studio to rerecord this version. it topped the itunes chart for awhile. and then she gor divorced and her ex asked for money 💴 🙄
Her performance is definitely heartbreaking and as a Father, I would never do anything like that to my kids and I think it’s great how she changed the lyrics to be the strong one and will take care of her kids

Love both versions. Her ex hub management company overcharged their fees… basically stealing her money. She just won a court case against him stating he has to pay her back 3 mil. She went through so much more than we will ever know.

It was a bad divorce. Go back to her Chemistry album and you'll get a good idea of their situation. He used her and took her money. He was jealous of her success it seems. He has half custody of the kids (she has residential. I'm pretty sure I got that right lol) and sees them, although I don't think it's nearly half the time. This version is Amazing! I hope she records this version. It's so empowering. She said she rewrote that right before she went on stage. She said she was about to go sing it and she just couldn't bring herself to sing the old version, but but she knows it's a fan favorite and people were waiting for it. ❤️
Another great Kelly reaction! I definitely agree with you about the contrast between the two…even though they’re both filled with emotion, the updated version is so much more hopeful and empowering! Kelly always wears her heart on her sleeve when performing and you can’t help but be affected. You should check out her video for “Because of You,” which is a precursor to “Piece by Piece,” and also any live performances of her new song “lighthouse,” which is also about her divorce.
Kelly does some of her original songs (Kellyoke Classic). This is a list of some old to new, they are all really good - Low, Maybe, Didn't I, Mine and I Won't Give Up.
Her ex husband does see her two kids (and receives a significant amount of child support) but Kelly has primary custody. I think she probably referenced in her rewritten version of Piece By Piece that she will take take of them and never leave them because she doesn’t know how the future story will play out regarding her kids and their relationship with their dad. She will always carry the memory of the emptiness she felt with her own father.

As you are finding out, while she has a powerful and amazing voice, much of what makes her so awesome is her talent with her writing and the full emotion and sincere depth she puts into her performances. She has very loyal fans who love her for all of these reasons but also for being one of the most genuine and down to earth celebrities out there.
Excellent reaction! Kelly is an open book, allways has been. If you are interested listen to the "Chemistry" album in your on good time. First of all its beautiful and secondly it's about the whole relationship, divorce and reasons. Personally I would have no problem if she kept her private life to herself, the album on the other hand is such a wonderful listen.

She did not set out intentionally to do an album. When she eventually did put out the album she said she only used those songs which covered issues that were already known publicly. She said she wrote many more songs that are too personal and would never release them. They were just written for her to release those emotions and kind of act as her therapy.
Desperado Kellyoke from the other day was phenomenal. Happier Than Ever Kellyoke (and recorded version) is *chef's kiss*. For the holidays you can't go wrong with her whole catalog (two Christmas albums) but Underneath the Tree, Blessed, and Christmas Isn't Canceled (Just You) top my list. Kelly has the emotional intelligence and complexity for it all. No matter what happens in a marriage/divorce you need to love your children more than you despise your ex. HOWEVER, Kelly really tried to have a classy divorce but Brandon (and his father) went so dirty, greedy, and illegal that eventually Kelly had to just be honest in her lyrics of Pieces by Piece and all the songs on Chemistry! Why don't pre-nups hold up anymore? She has to pay him $1.3M, plus 115k monthly, plus 45.6k monthly child support for the ONE weekend he has his children??? He also got all the live stock from their ranch because suddenly he's a rancher? Seriously? He cheated on her, life, scammed her, degraded her, didn't work while she killed herself building their life. The only 2 judgements that went her way were full custody of the children he didn't want anyway (until they meant he could get money for them!) And the $2.6M he and his father had to pay for illegally charging her as her agent for work in CA where they are not registered to collect income! And she might never have even filed that lawsuit if they hadn't first claimed she owed them $1.3M in unpaid bills...idiots! They screwed her just like Brandon's father screwed his ex-wife Reba out of all her money when HE DIVORCED HER after screwing around with Reba's then best friend! Kelly and Reba are far better off out of that Black stock family...just too bad both women really loved their husbands and never expected things to turn out the way they did!

Check out Kelly Clarkson’s “Merry Christmas To The One I Used To Know” from her 2021 Christmas album. She wrote it during her divorce, so it’s a pretty emotional song. But the lyrics are amazing. As she said, Christmas can be a happy time, but for others it can be a sad time too. That whole Christmas album is really good.

There are 2 songs that are so emotional in my opinion: Hurt by Christina and Piece by piece by Kelly. Both, Christina and Kelly are the only ones that can sing these songs with so many emotions.
Love Kelly! Did you see her cover of ABCDEFU (originally by Gayle)? She very cleverly changed some lyrics to be more specific to her ex-husband and I love it so much! **Specifically the one from her Las Vegas residency (she also did it on her talk show but the Vegas one is longer and has more changed lyrics) I recommend a view, totally worth it.

There are loads of public court documents you can look through but the skinny of it is that He was getting her deals, stealing her money, and psychologically abusing her in the process telling her that she wasn’t going to get the part on The Voice because she was not attractive enough” It gets more disgusting, but I won’t bore you. Long story short she SUED him for 3 or 4 million that he stole from her from all the deals over the years and won 3 out of 4 judgments. The jury found he did nothing wrong as her manager when he arranged the Kelly Clarkson Show. When I tell you this woman is amazing, I’m not exaggerating. BTW I subscribed

Kelly was married to Brandon Blackstock in 2013 (Reba McEntire was married to his father). They have two children together. (He has two children from previous marriage.) She filed for divorce in 2020 because he is a lying, cheating bast@*d. Oops. Got a little over zealous there. Can you imagine...she writes a beautiful and heart wrenching song like this, and while she's on stage singing about how good of a man he is, he's off shaging whomever?!
Do you know Erik Gronwall? In my own opinion, Kelly Clarkson is the best/strongest female singer and Erik Gronwall is the best/strongest male singer out there right now. He won Swidish Idol in 2009 and was in the band H.E.A.T and currently is with Skid Row. He also has his own youtube channel, which seems in line with how you watched Kelly do covers, so maybe you can check out Erik’s? He’s a “rock” singer but he’s done cool covers like Chandalier by Sia, “Without You” (the classic done by many but he calls out Mariah Carey), Living on a Prayer (Bon Jovi), and 18 and Life (Skid Row, which is now kind of a dream come true scenario for him, as it was his Idol Audition Song, he covered it on RU-vid, and has since been made the singer for Skid Row (so it’s like the movie “Rock Star” in a way) - so many good covers but those are a few I recommend, please check out if you have a chance.

I definitely thought that you came across rather cold and technical I attributed that to being British that's typically what I think of when I think of the UK versus being an American. When I asked you for more Celine Dion and you shot me down and cut me off at the knees you hurt my feelings but it's your channel, I dropped the patreon but I still continued to watch. I've learned to understand you quite well, your taste in music but you also have a softer side which you might not be the most comfortable with but it makes you more for the lack of a better word endearing. Kelly divorced her ex in 2020 but it wasn't finalized until 2022. She has said many times that this definitely was NOT an overnight decision that it was actually years in the making. They had a prenup that he tried to have thrown out. He originally tried to get about $450,000 A MONTH in spousal support from her until it was dropped down to $145,000 a month which will end January 31st, 2024. He also gets $45,000 a month in child support for having the kids ONE WEEKEND a month and a couple of hoidays. She also had to pay him a one time payment of over $900,000. She bought a ranch and he tried to take it but thankfully lost! He managed Kelly while they were married as well as Blake Shelton and after Kelly filed for divorce he told the judge he was leaving the entertainment industry to become a rancher. His father managed, was married to and divorced Reba McIntire and took a fortune from her in their divorce. I will leave out alot more that i know. As far as this song "Piece by Piece" Kelly has said that her fans kept requesting that she sing this song during her 2023 Las Vegas Residency and she didn't feel like she could do it but wanting to support her fans she changed the lyrics about an hour before she went on stage that night and didn't tell anyone. In one angle you can see her lead background vocalist, Jessi Colins, crying her eyes out durig the perforfance. Kelly is an incredible performer with a documented over 4 octave range and an even more beautiful human!
She is an amazing woman, I am so glad that she finally realized that she is the one that picked up the pieces of her life. She has always been that person, and I do know that Brandon and Kelly are not on the best terms. She does say that she doesn’t regret the relationship or the time spent with him, it gave her the two beautiful children that she loves more than anything. I also know that she moved over to the east coast to “separate” from the drama he was creating. Her daily show now films in NY. They have joint custody, but I don’t know how “joint” it actually is. He chooses when to be in their lives.
The first one, she was still with her husband…the husband was the good guy. The 2nd one, husband no longer the good guy and they’re divorced. You go Kelly!
