Billy Gibbons guitar sound and ZZ Top has been performing for over 50 years. The boys have experimented with various tones and effects, and ZZ Top’s material has ranged from Texas Blues, Boogie Rock and a killer heavy fuzz tone. Great stuff, always fun.
The "Eliminator" (Name of the car) album is non stop fun. Each song is awesome and several have these cool videos. The 1933 Ford is LEGENDARY. There are a few three man bands that are a little more famous, Hendrix, Cream, Rush..... But non are more fun to see LIVE. Billy Dusty and Frank know how to party like nobody else. Eliminator Coupe, the vivid red, ZZ graphics-adorned '33 Ford coupe built of Billy Gibbons and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band ZZ Top. Gibbons keeps the car in Cleveland at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where it is on display, but he may still "crank it up and take it out for a spin" whenever he is in the area. The Eliminator was featured on two of ZZ Top's album covers and appeared in a handful of the band's music videos. Since Gibbons had every intention of driving the car, mechanical reliability was essential. The coupe rolled atop a straightforward Pete & Jake’s chassis - dropped tube axle and four-bar suspension and a Ford 9-inch rear out back. Underneath the hood rumbled a simple 350 Chevy V8 with a Camaro Z28 cam and a four-barrel carb, mated to a Turbo 350 transmission. The final fandango? A ZZ Top logo milled into the valve covers.The car made its debut in 1983, gracing the cover of ZZ Top’s best-selling album, “Eliminator.” But that was just the start. Next, the Eliminator burst across television sets around the world in a series of MTV videos to promote the band’s hits - “Gimme All Your Lovin’,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” and “Legs.” Suddenly, millions of people were exposed to a gorgeously crafted hot rod. In 1985, Monogram produced a model kit of the Eliminator, further cementing its fame. Reflecting on the Eliminator, Gibbons once told a music magazine, “When it comes to automobiles, hot-roddin’ techniques are limited only to one’s imagination. That creative process brings one’s personality to a project. It’s just another way to stand out, it’s part of showmanship.”
I saw them for my second concert ever in 1976 right after Fandango came out. Fandango is loaded with great songs also. “Tush”, “Heard It On the X”, La Grange”, etc.

Back in the mid-80's the Eliminator '32 Ford Roadster was the first vehicle I saw with a chromed undercarriage, making it the coolest car out there. And ONE of Billy Gibbons own cars in his collection. BTW, saw ZZ on the "Eliminator" tour twice, and they were selling those "ZZ" key chains at the merch table.
You know, it just hit me, watching you watch a video of ZZ Top. This is the first time I've seen you watch a video while listening to the music. There were several amazing Rock bands from the 70's that for whatever reason got lost due to disco, punk, and the advent of 80's pop and hair bands. Arguably, MTV saved some truly great rock bands like the Z Boys, Heart, and Aerosmith, as well as others. There are opposing views out there whether music reaction videos should include videos or not...does the music get lost in the visual? Do you hear the music less? Bands like Aerosmith are insanely visual...so who knows...but so glad these bands gained resurgence.

Legends. Billy was friends with Jimi. Jimi said he had the best guitar tone he ever heard. Think of Italian food. 3-4 ingredients that cost maybe 2 dollars. You'll pay $30 a plate. Simple done right. It's all in the doin'.
