The running gag behind Sandra Lynn being absolutely done with Kristin is so much funnier when you remember that that woman had to deal with both Gilear Faeth AND Figueroth "Fig" Faeth for pretty much 2 decades of her life, and Kristin STILL managed to break her completely

Ally is so fucking good at making me SO fucking uncomfortable with the way Kristin handled basically everything about Sandra Lynn and Garte. Ally NAILED the awkward second hand anxiety of Kristin just not quite getting it and being so fucking bumbling youd forget just how high her charisma score is. Although with a dex of 4 I can see why she manages to get her foot in her mouth so much
im not so sure that kristen didn't get it, it was just an extremely weird situation. she knows that sandra lynn isn't poly, she knows that sandra lynn was weirdly pushy about keeping her away from tracker, and she knows there's mind control stuff happening. there were very good reasons for her to keep being so pushy even after having been told multiple times to leave, even by riz. the awkwardness was a kind of tool for her to be able to keep digging into sandra lynn's business (rightly so, imo) without being threatening

Kristen is such an interesting character because she literally seems like the least sexual person in the Bad Kids, and Fig seems like the most, yet it’s literally the other way around. Kristen becomes a menace whenever Tracker or Sandra Lynn are in close proximity, for completely different reasons.
I think that's definitely by design. Obviously Ally plays Kristen as a sheltered kid from an orthodox religious family who has just started to explore their own sexuality and break out of the shaming and restrictions that have been placed on them their whole life. It's a VERY real dynamic that people who have historically been sheltered and sexually repressed will go absolutely buck wild when they shake that off. At the same time, they often continue to have a very uncomfortable relationship with sex for a long while and alternate between being obsessed with it and repulsed by it because their whole moral system is rearranging itself. That's why it's very in character that Kristen is always the first one to voice the unspoken sexual questions or bring up sex when it's not being talked about. Meanwhile Emily definitely plays Fig as being a teen who is putting on a facade of being edgy and rebellious as a way of acting out for the chaos of her home life when we meet her and her strained relationship with her parents. The edginess is very much an act, which is why Fig's whole character is built around disguises and performances, so she wants to be perceived as someone who is super experienced and doesn't care what people think and all that, but in reality she very much is not, which is why she is overtly flirtatious and uses sexuality as a weapon but immediately feels out of her depth when she's in a position of even just kissing someone if she's not in disguise, because then it's not an act she's putting on, it's real, and who she really is is kind of a nerd and a sweetheart and sheltered in her own way. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, I just wanted to appreciate how good the roleplaying from both Ally and Emily is, they're incredible

I think as a character, Kristen intentionally messes around with Sandralinn because she’s craving the attention of a material figure to replace the one she has with her real mom
The comedy of Kristen being unhinged and Riz just fucking standing there not knowing what to do and dying from second hand embarrassment is PEAK COMEDY.
Yknow Brennan has stated that Emily was sent from hell to kill him. But Kristen Applesbees...Ally prayed to the Corn God to annoy the shit out of Brennan with their character
I can’t watch most of this bc I haven’t watched Sophomore Year yet but Fabian’s little “…Kristen!” in that clip at the beginning has always been so funny to me, any friendship dynamic where one says or does something weird or inappropriate and the other is like “WHAT is wrong with you” hits different (also Fabian is blorbo and i have feelings about him having friends to HAVE those dynamics with lol)
Dear god please watch it as soon as possible. Season one of FH is so good, but sophomore year is like a beautiful gift. It gets into some of the most deep and wholesome moments of the whole series. Also Hilda- Hilda may be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

To be fair, Fig is basically everyone's step-sibling aside from Gorgug. Her mother is dating Adaine's foster dad who is also the "uncle" (we never got confirmation as to if Gorgug's theory about Jawbone being Tracker's dad or not was right) of Tracker is dating Kristen. Fig's step-dad is with Fabian's mother. Her birth-father is with Riz's mother.
Kristen would have made such a good peace cleric. If you reflavord it as love it represents so much of Kristen. One side of love being a platonic family like the love she has for friends and the fact she tries to keep them together. She truly believes in the power of having loved one by your side. Then there is the um tracker sife that she is very experienced with and clearly enjoys. She also loves getting into others people love lives.
Ally is such a beacon of choas its both so funny and so terrifying at the same time cuz i am so the opposite if i played with them I'd be tearing my hair out
I have never found Ally funnier than in D20. I finally understand how they got their job at CH because Ally’s Dropout era has been nothing short of outstanding.
Sandra Lynn just decided to give zero f*cks. She is grappling with having to live forever. The whole interaction between Sandra/Fig/Kristen/ Garty was truly so awkward and also incredibly human. People make mistakes. Mom's are people too, and they f*ck up sometimes.
The funniest part of this I think is that I don’t know if Ally even remembers these genius choices like the Tasha’s Hideous Laughter and ribbon dancing bit I’m crying
Sandra Lynn framing the situation as "I'm your employee and this is invading my privacy" pisses me off so fucking much man. No Sandra, these are a group of young teenagers, one of whom is your DAUGHTER and one your niece-in-law. YOU are one of the only adults with them, essentially and narratively CHAPARONING. This is not an appropriate time to be ??? fucking off to have an affair with a magical pirate. Especially not so blatantly in front of your daughter and her friends--- who are now in the position of having to take over your emotional labor and decide if they should tell Tracker or not. Which is not their fucking job??? Be an adult. So deeply fucking careless. Lowkey hate her ass lol. Obviously, though that has more to do with me than anything else. She reminds me a lot of my own mother lol... But either way, props to Brennan he is such a good DM. Choices like these make the relationships all the more textured and compelling. And honestly Kristen plays it in such an awkward , hilarious way that it's hard to even take seriously😭. If I was in Ally's place I think I'd need to take a break from the table lmfao.... woops.
It’s pretty affordable! It costs like an expensive cup of coffee or decadent slice of cake per month here in my third world country lol. I completely dropped Netflix for it, though. But I feel better supporting this team anyway.
Unsleeping City is also amazing and is on RU-vid for free. UC season 2 is great as well, and so is FH sophomore year and junior year. You see where your money goes too. The dome AND board are amazing in later seasons - most notably in Neverafter and FH junior year.
Almost character from ally is truly at the bottom of my list in every season of Dimension 20, I cannot stand anything that any of them do, say or give as a message, but Gary Gygax as my witness I wouldn´t have the intrepid heroes with any of them missing. They truly are the Dream Team
