The stuntman who flew the helicopter under the bridge at the end said it was the most terrifying stunt he ever did and made the studio get him life insurance for his family to be taken care of. Also it was done in one take.

The helicopter pilot that the t-1000 tells to "get out" is actually the stunt pilot that preformed the under the bridge stunt.

I don't know how many people know this, but the actress, Jenette Goldstein, who plays John's foster mom, also played the badass marine 'Vasquez' in 'Aliens'.

FYI: The SWAT member who finds Dyson and orders everyone to get out is Dean Norris, AKA Hank from Breaking Bad. :)

Joe Morton (Miles Dyson) really nailed the role. I love how Cameron abandoned the scientist who'll do anything to protect his work trope in favor of humanity over invention. The rapid breathing scene was suggested to Cameron by Morton himself. He had been in a car accident and it left him with a collapsed lung, he showed Cameron how difficult it was to breathe and he decided to use it. It's just one of many iconic scenes in the film.

This masterpiece was the most expensive film ever made back in 1991. It cost 100 million dollars to make. The T1000 CGI effects changed the effects industry, and modern CGI effects work like even Cameron's Avatar films, is thanks to the effects pioneered in Terminator 2. This classic is now over 31 years old, and it not only stands up, but it's STILL better than anything today. Robert Patrick who plays the T1000 is one of the greatest villains ever, along with Arnie from the original. Great reaction to a legendary movie.

Linda Hamilton learned how to pick locks for the film. That's why the scene is so realistic. That leads me to the question, how do you know so much about lockpicking?

It might seem weird but the actor that played Miles gave what I thought to be one of the most convincing death scenes I've ever seen in cinema. What an absolute talent.

That last line is absolutely brutal for me every single time. We hurt each other so much and I hope some day we will finally reach a level where we can confidently say we learned.

The scene where Arnie steps out of the elevator has to be my favorite in the film, previously we saw Sarah doing exercises planning to leave then during her breakout she's beating the gaurds down ducking and dodging but the second he steps out she freeze's and drops to the floor, even when captured by gaurds he is the only thing she's worried about it perfectly captures how much trauma and PTSD the original gave her

My favorite bit of T2 movie trivia is the fact that Robert Patrick did his best to breathe and blink as little as possible while they were shooting, to really sell the fact that even tohugh the T-1000 is much more advanced, and more capable of passing off as a human, it still has a machine-like quality to it. I also agree that the physique of the two different Terminators say a lot about them. The T-1000 is slimmer, leaner, sleeker and faster. Exactly what you'd expect from an 'upgrade'.

Joe Morton deserved a best supporting nom for playing Miles bennett Dyson. Unforgettable performance.

Joe Morton is an absolute standout in this movie. Dyson isn't there for long, but Morton makes that guy seem almost uncomfortably real. Dude goes from an exhausted dad, to shaking mortal panic, to crushing realization, to all in on their plan to save the world, and that finale for his character is heart wrenching and incredibly heroic. Always stuck with me, ever since i was a kid seeing this for the first time.

Fun fact about the scene where the new termi chases John while he's riding away on the bike: The actor who played the T-1000 webr through a hell of a lot of practice to be as robotic as possible, including when he runs, moving as effeciantly and robotically as possible, as a result of his practice though, hed become such a good runner that they had to re-shoot the scene multiple times because he kept catching up to the bike 😂

Only thing than watching Clariss reacting finally T2, is seeing her getting fully immersed and turning fan girl, yet pointing out lock picks and such. Thank you so much, Clariss!

Back when I saw this in a theater, they didn't make you leave when the movie was over. I used to watch good movies a second time, and also watch people watch it for the first time. There was cheering, crying, people jumping out of their seats in applause at the great parts, and of course laughter. I'm 40something years older than you, so I saw a lot of these movies when they first came out. Happy New Year, and best of luck with your channel.

Towards the end when the t1000 takes form of Sarah is actually Linda Hamilton's real life twin sister. Also the orderly scene where he gets poked in the eye is also done by his twin brother.

The scenes where the T1000 takes the forms of the hospital security guard and Sarah Conor where actual performed with those actors twin siblings. So that is Linda with her twin sister (who unfortunately has passed away).

What I find really fascinating is that, even though the cgi tech to produce these images is now commonplace, the creativity beyond its use in T2 still wows; not because we are any longer so impressed by the cgi, but because it just looks so good. The little details such as the t-1000 walking through the gate, and then it's gun getting stuck, are just chief's kiss. It's fascinating to consider that much of the tech used to create these effects was designed specifically for this movie, or for earlier Cameron movies, such as The Abyss. You use the description, morphing so easily, but it's easy to forget that digital morphing had only been used for about 5 years before the release of T2; eg, in Flight of the Navigator (1986), and The Abyss (1989). It was all so new. So, a lot if the buzz at the time was that it was so new to us. Also, a lot of the pretty new cgi was stuff that you can't see, but which is no ubiquitous in movies, was the digital removal of things like wires. Eg, when Arnie drives his bike from off the overpass, it's a real stunt, the the wires are painted out. Also, one thing that makes these effects st ill look so great - other than the creativity, vision, and art direction - is that it was actually a mixture of CGI and practical effects; just like the original Jurassic Park.

I am SO glad you picked the theatrical version instead of the director's cut. This is one of the only situations I know where the theatrical cut of a movie is the version that is SIGNIFICANTLY better.

Th original ending was going to be a happy ever after ending where Sarah is in her older years and it's a beautiful day but this ending is more realistic so I agree with James approach here. The other ending is on the special edition with all of the extras included and there is also a clip of Reese with Sarah as well.

That sound effect when the biker flew through the window had me seriously cry laughing for 10 minutes.

Fun fact is that James used Twins in this movie. The scene where the T-1000 kills a security guard Twins are used. The twins are in Good Morning Vietnam and Gremlins 2. The other scene that uses twins is where you see two the T-1000 disguised as Sarah. Linda had a Twin sister that used in the movie. Unfortunately the twin is dead now. The actress that plays the foster mom is Vasquez fr9m Aliens.

14:14 -- when the teaser for this movie came out, it ended with this line, and it always got a big laugh from the audience. The T-1000 version of Sarah was played by Linda Hamilton's twin sister.

If you want to continue the Terminator franchise I highly recommend Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It is an amazing follow up to T2.

"I know now why you cry, but its something I could never do." I know the line is coming, Ive seen this movie dozens of times - that line still gets me every time. How did the get the Helicopter to fly so low? They flew a helicopter under the underpass. Its one of the greatest stunts ever shot. James Cameron didnt want to risk a film crew on it - so he operated the camera himself. This concludes the Terminator franchise - the quality of the next movies drop dramatically. IF you want more Terminator in you life, I would suggest Terminator: The Sara Conner Chronicles. One of the episodes of the TV series follows up with the Doctor (if you recall - he witnessed the terminators shoot out in the hall - and the one terminator stepping through the barred door) he becomes a true believer and is living in the mountains off grid... The scenes where the T-1000 is directly mimicing someone, are all scenes with TWINS used live on camera. The two guards were both in Gremlins 2 as clones, and Linda Hamilton and her twin sister Leslie Hamilton.

One of my favorite little subtle things; while the T-1000 is flying the helicopter, it reloads a gun. If you look close, 1 hand is holding the gun, a second hand is loading the clip, and a THIRD HAND is holding the control stick of the helicopter 😲😲😲

In the dream scene before Sarah goes after miles. The Sarah on the playground was actually her Sister. It was easier to just cast her with no script to read , and save time filming . Pretty smart decision in my opinion.

If you plan on watching any more Terminator, I think the only thing worth watching after this is the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series. Don't bother with the newer Terminator sequels, unless you want to be disappointed 😀 I never saw T1 or T2 in the cinemas, but I did see both on VHS when I was very young and T1 is to this day my favorite movie of all time. I definitely don't think T2 is bad, it's really awesome, but there's just something in T1 that's not been replicated to this day. So cool to see a first-timer seeing and enjoying them 🙂 And some behind the scenes stuff - that helicopter flying under a bridge shot - the cameramen didn't want to do the low down shot of following the copter, so Cameron did it himself.

Cool channel, cool reaction! I remember vividly seeing this when it opened on 4th of July weekend, 1991. A few weeks before, a girl in my algebra class had just seen a little, unknown movie called Silence of the Lambs, and seen the trailer for the new Terminator movie. She told me this new terminator can turn into liquid metal. At the time, I had no idea what the heck that meant, but it sounded soooo badass!! The effects at the time were very cutting edge (still looks damn good). If I remember correctly, the original Terminator wasn't an instant blockbuster, but gained popularity over time, through VHS rentals and word of mouth. Seven years later, when this sequel finally came out...everyone was anticipating seeing it. The theaters were absolutely packed.

Such an excellent movie. It's not a group of random events, each action logically leads to the next.

The whole reason the effects are so good in this one, is actually due to another, but lesser known, Cameron film, The Abyss, which I would highly recommend for anyone interested in acting and or filmmaking; as well as the making of, which is just as interesting and fascinating. It's become known as one of the most infamous sets and productions, akin to Apocalypse Now etcetera!

Every time she says "he said the thing" when there's a callback I can't help but think of Producer Guy from Pitch Meeting going "That's the thing from the other movie!" and Writer Guy going "Yes sir, it is".

"Everything about these scenes say that they have money." You ain't seen nuthin' yet. Joe Morton played Dyson. His first big role was in an independent film called "Brother from Another Planet", which is also worth checking out, but it is low key.

In the lock picking scene, Linda actually picked the lock to her restraints and the door. If I remember right, the BBC asked them to cut how she did it so people wouldn't learn how to do it by watching and rewinding the VHS.

It’s funny you thought that the T-1000 was too fast when he was chasing the bike down. Robert Patrick actually had to slow down because he kept catching the bike. And he trained to hide his fatigue so it appeared his running was effortless.

It's so fun to watch first time viewing reaction videos, and I watch a lot. Yours are the absolute best and most entertaining I've ever seen. You REALLY get into it, and it's just amazing to re-live the thrill of watching something for the first time.

This sequel is just as iconic and classic as the first terminator movie happy to see you reacting to it.

This movie is a true masterpiece. The characters are so well written and the actors pull off such phenomenal job that the characters feel alive. This is what’s missing in today’s movies. We the audience love these characters and these stories because they have heart. These stories are an art form, not a platform to preach a message. Characters like Sarah Connor and Miles Dyspn and John Connor inspires us to be better humans , that I too can be brave and do the right thing.

Sarah’s transformation from 1 to 2 is my favorite in movie history with Michael Corleone’s.

T2 was groundbreaking in terms of visuals, combining CGI with practical effects to a point you aren't quite sure which one is which. It made the best possible use of its big budget. But it also diluted the story, forgot its foundations, messed up the time travel, tweaked it to make less sense, be less brave, less scary, but more attractive to younger and more casual audience. T2 was primarily a great marketing move but not much more than a well executed summer pop corn action flick. Hardly a single aspect that can be considered 'better' compared to the original. They're not even in the same league imo. The Terminator was a masterfully written, atmospheric horror sci-fi with a lot of unpleasant concepts, even scenes, a film with masterful writing, a lot of originality, authenticity, creativity. It's a harrowing concept, and its presentation was equally brutal and uncompromising. From the tragic love story which is in its core to the lack of classic happy ending. It suffers from the fact many people, especially these days, saw T2 before The Terminator, thus not even getting deeper into it, just expecting flashy effects and mindless action - then disappointed at it not having the helicopter under the bridge, the liquid metal, the one liners and tongue in cheek humour of T2. It is vastly more sophisticated and authentic, but is admittedly, being a sci fi horror, aimed at somewhat different, even more narrow audience.

It's the rare sequel that gets the extra $ and actually is good or better than the original. James Cameron did a great job. The first one was guerilla filmmaking at its best. Cameron talked about doing street scenes without a permit - basically sneaking out to locations at night, filming, then getting the hell out of there. He talked often about "perfect is the enemy of the good", the idea that you have to just do it sometimes with what you got - don't wait until you have all the financing or the story or whatever. So much innovation in this movie with the SFX. This film was a trip to see in the theater when it came out. Enjoyed your reaction. You always have great insight into filmmaking and actor performances.

Perfect end to the story imo. I like how it's still one of the most realistic film depictions of lockpicking and a nuclear blast. Also, Miles Dyson for MVP.

T2 and JP1 were the biggest nationwide block buster movies back in the 90s, aside from Star Wars (and for teens, playing fighting game arcade machines at pizza restaurants, the MK1 movie, was quite the big excitement too)

Yaaas, one of THE best movies of all time and so glad you enjoyed it :) They really did just go all out on it with their new budget but in ways that fits and makes it one of the most memorable action movies you'll ever see Will reiterate that terminator 3 isn't the worst, but comes off feeling more a parody of this one than a further sequel, the rest I honestly can't recommend watching unless you are really curious

8:00 Apparently the reason the terminator is hiding his shotgun inside the bouquet of flowers was Cameron wanted to make a small visual tribute to Guns N' Roses, who allowed a song of theirs to be used in the film's soundtrack (You Could Be Mine, John and his friend are listening to it while they work on his bike in the garage). So I remember seeing in the comments of another T2 reaction video anyway.

Some details liked in the film - Sarah is shot in the opposite leg than injured in T1, Arnold's red eye is the opposite eye from T1, after Arnold reveals his endoskeleton arm to Miles it remains hidden by his jacket and glove until crushed in the machinery. ☕T2 was the downfall of the coffee vending machines and rise of the coffee cafe chains.

I always get emotional when the Terminator says: "I know now why you cry. But it's something I can never do" because I think that it's at this exact moment that the Terminator achieves true sentience and becomes something akin to a human. But he chooses to sacrifice himself for the sake of Mankind. It's such a poweful moment of cinema!

Cameron's super sequel formula - Bring back the heroine, add a kid, elevate the villain, go bigger. Aliens, T2, Way of Water. JC knows how to turn out a sequel that surpasses the original.

I say the 12:30 am showing and was so blown away I went back to the 8:00 showing with a different group of friends. Still one of the best action films of all time.

"Tell me it made a difference!" Well: it made a difference... in the original script XD. There are two endings for this film, the original intended ending in which we learn it made a difference (Sarah is in the park of her dreams giving some final thoughts to his tape diary and gives the speech you just heard). But studios, in all their wisdom, decided giving this "definitive" ending to the film could prevent them from capitalizing on the story more, decided to cut it and add the ending you just saw, which is the ending that was seen by people in cinemas and tv: one section of Sarah's speech with the reused footage of the road at night. In any case, for several years both endings were considered to be the definitive endings (the certainty the Judgement Day was averted, or, at least, the faith that it was and the characters owned now their own destiny). And then came the idea of adding more sequels (it's not a comment about their quality, just that after long years without anyone really asking for another film, someone just said "let's do more Terminator"; making canon that the sacrifice in this film didn't make a difference). You can find the original ending in some other streaming services (it's fun that, depending on the streaming platform one has, you get one of the different endings... it's not like you get it as a bonus feature or you get asked which one you want; they just show you the one they decided to buy XD), or here in RU-vid, it's been uploaded as a stand alone clip several times. "The casting of Robert Patrick as T-1000" Not only that he looks more "streamlined" and sleek; according to different interviews, Robert Patrick trained to run as fast as he could almost "machine like": without taking deep breaths (a sign of human effort) and even without blinking for long periods of time (for the close ups). He perfected this stunt that well, that apprently during the bike scene at the mall (where he chases John on foot) he was able to catch up with the speeding bike, so they had to ask him to be "less perfect" to make credible John had a chance of escaping XD. "Behind the scenes trivia" There are lots and lots of hidden details in the scripts of both movies to fill a little dictionary (showing just how much everyone involved in the film put into the story; because some of those details went unnoticed for years). Just some quick ones: -In both Terminators the final chase features a truck with some dangerous load that gets destroyed; but, on top of that, Cameron used a scene in T1 as, kind of, a foreshawoing of T2: when Arnold goes to kill the first "wrong" Sarah Connor in T1, he crushes a blue toy truck... which looks almost exactly the same as the blue towing truck that the T1000 uses to chase John years later. -The operating scene on the brain of Arnold in this film wasn't performed using CGI, but good old fashioned camera tricks: the mirror it's just the frame, with a set of actors on both sides mimickoing the actions to look like they are reflected. And who did they cast to be Sarah Connor's body double? Well, her life body double: her twin sister Leslie Hamilton. -That's not Leslie's only scene in the film: she appears too as a nod to T1 Sarah "waitress" design in the nuke dream (she is the one with the baby in the park) and, later on, she is in the "fake Sarah" scene where the T-1000 transforms into her to trick John. For those who don't know, Leslie Hamilton sadly passed away at 63 back in 2020. -It's not the only scene made with twins: remeber the security guard impaled in the eye at Pescadero? Another set of twins. -In that scene, the guard knocks on the glass door before going for coffee; then the T1000 "guard" knocks the door again to when he gets back. Both knocks sound different to hint the density and the material of the hand has changed. -Apparently, the nuke dream has been deemed (at least for a time after the film was released) one of the most accurate depictions in cinema of how a nuclear explosion really acts and looks like. "Can a helicopter fly that low?" Yes, it can; because that's how they filmed it XD. Apparently the first idea for this chase was that it was entirely set inside a tunnel, made with miniatures, an interesting idea... but it proved unpractical at the time; so the Long Beach freeway was used instead for the general setting of the chase, and flying a helicopter under an underpass was the next best option for Cameron's vision XD. You actually know the person who pulled this dangerous stunt: Carles Tamburro is a veteran stunt pilot and Vietnam veteran who also appears in this film, he does a good job looking terrified piloting the helicopter when the T-1000 tells him to "get out". The stunt wasn't made out of nowhere, it was carefully planned: according to a later interview, first the helicopter was put on wheels to get a clear idea how much clearance it had on each side (four feet to the sides and five feet above and below) and it was performed later at a relatively slow speed (70 mp/h or 111 km/h); the stunt couldn't be done at slower speeds, because, then, the helicopter would have crashed because there is not enough air for the blades to work below the underpass (if you want the more technical definition of this, it's called "ground effect"; basically, planes flying too low can float on the "cushion" of turbulent compressed air they naturally generate, rather than crashing; allowing them to fly at slower speeds or in spaces they normally couldn't, like an underpass; but if that air isn't compressed fast enough, the plane doesn't float and simply falls from the air). How low can a helicopter fly close to the ground? Well, helicopters are designed to be very versatile, a skilled pilot can do mostly anything with them. The crazy thing about the helicopter part they did it twice to film both angles. The reason they had to do it twice is the camera crew didn't think the pilot would be able to do it and didn't want to film his death. James Cameron did it himself both times. He also filmed the semi truck jumping down scene because he didn't want to risk the lives of his camera crew.

8:49 FUN FACT: None of the members of the film crew wanted to risk their lives in order to get this shot. So James Cameron grabbed the camera and took the shot himself. Robert Patrick confirmed this saying he took the camera and yelled "suck it up!".

what's great touch which nobody ever mentions is how arnys terminator found out/knew where john was staying (certainly wasn't thru a phone book) and even beat the t1000 who stole a cop vehicle and searched john's location which was given on a silver platter.

Fun fact: Robert Patrick was too fast during the dirt-bike chase that he had to slow down. He was catching up to the bike. He also trained his body to breath to where he still looks robotic

😎👍 You really can't beat an Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie when it comes to just plain old goofy popcorn entertainment. Now that you've seen "Predator" and the two "Terminator" films, the next logical one to watch would probably be "Commando" (1985). The plot is as simple as it gets. A bunch of bad guys kidnap his daughter (played by 12-year-old Alyssa Milano), and he spends the next hour and a half rescuing her while cracking wise. Lots of gunplay, explosions, hand-to-hand whoop-ass, and some spectacularly staged stunts.

I remember watching this in the theater for free, my company Subway was a sponsor. I loved Linda Hamilton's fit form in this because it is Sarah Connor's personality for sure.

I’ve watched this multiple times and it wasn’t until you pointed it out that they recreated the original “I’ll Be Back” scene with him driving a vehicle through the front of a building. -The use of Guns N’ Roses “You Could Be Mine” was great. The video for it very much makes it seem like it plays a huge role but it acts as background. The line “With your bitchslap rappin’ and your cocaine tongue, you get nothing done” was used in the liner notes of Appetite for Destruction. -Your comments about Robert Patrick are spot on. I think another thing is that he looks like he could be a cop. So, it makes the disguise even more believable. -For a fun moment, if you haven’t already, check out “Last Action Hero.” It’s incredibly meta. There’s two scenes involving this movie.

At the time, the CGI was revolutionary. I seem to remember it was the first movie to cause a lot of buzz just because of the CGI. Of course Michael Jackson had introduced video morphing to a wider audience with his Black And White video. But this was obviously on another level. The franchise has languished since, but I think it’s not just because of poor sequels: I think the general dread of nuclear war has subsided after the end of the Cold War. And that dread is kind of the main point of these movies, the AI fear is secondary.

Of course, knowing that Arnie is the good guy in this one is supposed to be a big twist reveal.
