For anyone who stumbles on this video by this point: please keep in mind that the channel owner is summarizing *a lot* so he can keep the overall plot beats easy to get for anyone who hasn't actually read the books. There is obviously a lot of nuance and details that are being kept out for the sake of brevity, including basically everything that has to do with character relationships or development, and even then he's leaving out *A LOT* of subplots. Basically, this video *IS NOT* a replacement for actually reading the Light Novel, it's only a *general summary* so you can get a rough idea of what's going on. I'm sure you probably thought that the numerous twists that he casually threw out sounded absolutely insane, especially the whole thing about Volume 7 and the literal giant spider woman riding dragon wielding a bazooka thing. Do yourself a favor and actually pick up the books someday, the experience just isn't the same otherwise.
In episode 1, she actually listed reasons for her reincarnation as a spider and one of the reasons was that she’s a spider with inserted memories AHHH THE FORESHADOWING

The reason why I actually unironically liked the human sections in the LN was because during this period spider section is pretty much 90% fighting, and these sections were used to give readers some break and also lore dump in a way that spider section couldn't for practical reasons. They are also brief and Shun is explicitly called out as a dumbass more often. *And* the human sections end up being crucial to creating this novels brilliant narrative structure, so I can't complain.
The NANOSECOND Taboo reached Lv.10, the Franchises Quality dives-down. Even years later, this ruined it for me. Giving the MC Loads of Info that from-now-on dictates all their actions and not giving us those Infos was such a massive Writing-Mistake, im still in we.
While I don't think it was the best choice, keeping the info close to the chest in this case preserved the mystery of how the world got this messed up in the first place. The only thing we needed at the time was knowledge that that the planet our protagonist was on was doomed. We didn't know why and all we knew at that point is that if White didn't have memories of earth its highly implemented that she would have gone mad. Plus at this point in the story there wasn't anything mundane that could be a threat to her, so this gave her a continued reason to grow stronger. Even though there wasn't any immediate danger to her life. To make a long point short, it was used as a way to further the story while still being a "punishment" of sorts for those who thought "Taboo" was a punishment.
The human sections of the light novel are, in most cases, brief enough to make them not super boring. The pacing of the light novel is probably my favorite part. The author somehow makes jumping all over a timeline feel natural and fluid.
A correction, it was not a subordinate that dragged D off to the underworld to do her job. Nope, it was actually THE STRONGEST GODDESS IN THE SERIES MEIDO (because for some reason she dresses as a maid). Meido is the ONLY one more powerful then D and able to force her to do her job, thankfully the battle lover didnt take notice of Kumoko (Who officially goes by Shiraori now) as anyone capable of knocking D's head clean off must be an interesting sparring partner.
I still enjoyed the anime for what it was. But yeah, the light novels have the full experience here. Though I'd say the same for Overlord. Another generally enjoyable anime with awful CGI.
Yeah same, I enjoyed the anime and liked it so much that I got motivated to read the LN, but I got so disappointed after reading the LN because the anime skipped ALOT of dialogues and scenes like Schlain's reappraisal ceremony and Katia and Schlain's reunion. They should've ended on the Araba fight, but they just rushed it all the way to vol.5, I just hope they do The Journey To The Demon Territory and UFO Arc justice and they'll ever make a season 2 I'd give the anime a 6/10 and the LN an 8/10

I'm hoping to see the Anime get a Second Season, even if it takes a few Years, and the Animation doesn't improve, and we only see part of the full story, I'd just like to watch more of Kumoko.
@@shiro5863 I'm thinking that before the Second Season though, they might take some of the other characters from the series and make some OVAs focused on them(similar to what happened with "One Punch Man" or "Attack on Titan"), that way we can see more stories that were in the Manga but not Season One of the Anime, like the Genderbent Reincarnation dealing with being a Boy in a Girl's Body, or even show the Girl who got Reincarnated as a Dragon dealing with no longer being Human.
Something important that was mentioned briefly was the souls wasting away. The reason why things started to escalate at this point in time wasn't so much because of the classmate otherworlders being there but, because it meant permanent death. The souls had to repay the damage from the ancient war so instead of reincarnating as is the base line usual for souls in this universe, they had to get reborn on the same world. That meant that they would eventually have an oblivion death were there was no coming back from. So things were already getting to the point of no return for not only them but the world and god spoilers.
The actual problem isn't really the studio, because god knows those poor guys did everything possible to finish the project; but *Kadokawa*, who not only decide which studio gets to do the anime, but also assigns their budget and has control over the marketing. To understand why they're the problem: 1. Everyone who complained about the studio being bad (which was basically everyone) has to actually point the finger to the ones who gave KumoDesu to them rather than a studio with better track record: Kadokawa. 2. Anime basically don't get more budget once its assigned. Kadokawa actually assigned minuscule funding to KumoDesu's project. According to some people in the KumoDesu Discord who went looking for figures last year, KumoDesu actually got *around a quarter* of the usual budget of an Isekai-style anime, which is already less than the average budget anime gets, let alone the big deal popular animes that people get hyped over. The financial situation was so bad they had to outsource animation to Chinese studios because it was cheaper. Unfortunately, anime is *expensive as hell*, and money absolutely is the great equalizer that sadly KumoDesu couldn't rely on. 3. Post-anime, Kadokawa started advertising obviously spoiler-y Arachne Kumoko figures and saying people should go pick up the LN6 to continue the anime. As this video explained, there's a lot of stuff missing from the anime that it would be better to go from the beginning to learn what you've missed. Evidently, Kadokawa doesn't care as long as they can make a quick buck. The following is simply conjecture and my opinion, but Kadokawa's handling of this IP was so miserable that the pessimist in me seriously thought they *wanted* it to get panned. More likely, Kadokawa couldn't be bothered to invest higher budget into a series that had a complex enough narrative that it would take more effort than the usual to make a significant profit from it, so they didn't. The anime didn't just cut out a lot of characterization scenes, the logic behind Kumoko's power curve is mostly skipped or heavily summarized and there were obviously some pretty severe consistency issues (they go to war with *forest* elves but the forest is magically absent in the actual battle, and you get only floating elves which are *actually standing on forest trees* in the novel).
This is really such a shame. I just found out about this manga and it is Soo good. Like, I would go as far as saying that this deserve as much attention as a big Shonen Jump title like Naruto, Bleach or Jujutsu Kaisen. And I'm not even that much of a big manga fan myself but this one is really good, mostly because of Kumoko. She's a S-Tier anime character.
One of my favorite details (not upset you skipped it btw) is how out of touch White/Kumoko is with her training of Mera and Vampy. On top of the puppet walking, I love that White wants Vampy to get proficiency on her physical and magic defense skills by attacking herself with magic. Vampy, understandably, doesn't want to inflict major pain on herself, but White doesn't get why anyone would have an issue with this. She's like ...what? why are you complaining? this is just normal training... Also that this insane training method is passed onto her parallel minds who create an army of superspiders who are constantly torturing themselves to get stronger. Ronandt sees this and thinks it's genius so he starts joining in. When he later tries to teach Julius, Julius has the same reaction as Vampy and Ronandt is banished or something for "trying to kill the hero"
It is touched on later iirc that that tendency of kumoko's was likely pride's corruption on her soul. It makes you see people around you as sources of exp and cosntantly, rapidly level up to the point of destroying your soul. If she didnt have heresy resistance from the merciless title, it could've been even worse.
the light novel is legendary but the anime is just.. good. It's not just the 3D animation that spoils it, it's the subtle changes made in the anime to how a character acts that 'tints' the wonderful and charming story of Kumoko.

@@normal6997 just overanalyze stuff, comment more often. I've been feeling down too with animes and I couldn't remember a single thing after an episode was over and yet I continued watching. I realized now that when I try to form theories and opinions on matters I seem to indulge myself more on that show. Or try to watch it with someone else who's very enthusiastic

I am surprised you didn't mention that the Human trafficking was done by Potimas was because he was covering up his kidnapping of the Reincarnated kids, which is how he got like 13 of them in the Elf Village. Also, January of 2022 was the end of the web novel (the rough draft of the light novel) so we do have a rough but good idea how the rest of the story will play out.

She traveled with vampy and the demon lord for a while training her like crazy until they find ancient ruins of a hyper advanced Civilization. This eventually triggers a giant UFO full of countless ai war machines to try to exterminate the planet. A temporary alliance of just about everyone happens to stop it with some outside interference in a mini war Arc. Its core is also a super bomb and while they try to shut it down it starts going off so kumo eats it. This is what makes her evolve into a human form god and is given administrator privileges. Eventually they take over the demon race and prepare for war against the elves for years. Why? Turns out ancient humans discovered an unlimited energy supply which was actually the lifeblood of the planet. True Dragons wage war to save the planet and Sariel forces them to flee because she deems human lives more valuable than anything for some reason. The dragons flee taking most of the lifeblood energy leaving the planet near total collapse. D steps in and creates the game-like system in order to create and restore that energy. As mortals gain skills they create energy and when they died some of that is returned to the planet. Sariel is the core slowly dying as he acts as an AI managing it. They're also forcibly reincarnated on the planet as punishment perpetually to repeat life and death in order to create that energy to repent for their sins of nearly killing the planet. Potimas keeps using the energy trying to live forever and is a supervillain. In the rest of the elf war he summons an even stronger UFO and uses everything to try and defeat them but eventually dies. The world is about to die because of all of this. A bunch more things quickly happen leading to the start of the final war of black vs white. Gulie loves Sariel and wishes to to sacrifice her and take her place as the new core to buy time, while Kumo wishes to destroy the system and cause lots of permanent death to liberate the energy needed to save Sariel and the planet. If you want to know more about the hows or whys its better to wait and read/watch the story
Fun FACT: Wakaba ( the God) in the end still does her job. putting her soul to Kumoko is basically the same entire thing XD.. she's still doing her job just with another medium. imagine how insane laziness drives people/Gods.

Man, I found so little content about it on RU-vid and I really wanted to watch this video, but I quickly got reminded that Web Novel and Light Novel are 2 very different story (I read the entire WN) so to avoid spoiling myself the LN I have to watch it later
The puppet spiders themselves and their base bodies are from the Demon Lord, it largely followed the anime with the exception that it was 10 puppets rather than just the one. Initially Kumoko just does minor modifications (E.G. adding hair) and clothes for them but as her skill increases she does start remaking larger portions of the puppets.
Yep, from what I remember she was bored out of her mind when they were travelling (since she couldn't visit human towns as Arachne), so she decided to experiment with her new thread skills and, well, one thing lead to another and she befriended those puppet spiders (who are now their own characters in LN) becoming thier personal beatification counselor :) Even more, IIRC she picked it up as hobby and would occasionally create high quality clothes and gift them to Oni, Vampy, Ariel and I think few other people she holds dear

I actually really enjoyed so what I’m a spider. I mean everyone trashes on it but I think it’s one of the better isekai’s out there. I mean the cgi was trash but that’s fine for it’s budget and yeah it took me a bit to get with the pacing but I think they did a good job of showing how naive shun was and although everyone prefers wakabas perspective or the spider depending on what you think wakaba meant in episode one. The teacher they did good with her perspective and honestly I would love a season 2 with ideally a bigger budget.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought the human section of this story was boring. Man, I really need to read the manga. I'm not a manga nerd myself. My taste in anime is really mainstream and basic (think Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, Jujutsu Kaisen, etc). But this story really got me hooked because of Kumoko. She's so funny, yet genuinely smart and powerful as well. I really love this character.
The manga is no longer behind the anime, but it seriously skipped pretty much everything about the human side and seems to actually want to show Kumoko *only*. When we inevitably catch up with the human side, Kumoko is going to have to heavily exposition dump *everything* about the human side as it happens, and the manga will just end up looking like an entire half of the plot that was never introduced until then is suddenly relevant and being dumped into our laps with no warning.
I actually liked this video a lot despite not really being a So I'm a Spider So What fan, only because of how crazy the summary was. Honestly when she became a god I thought you were gonna say it had ended after that, but then when it told us that she was an actual spider all along before the reincarnation, I honestly thought that was the end. I need to hear more! Now if anyone tells me to read it...no. I got too much to read and to watch, but summaries are welcome!
So the reason the story doesn't end with either her apotheosis (becoming a goddess) or reveal of her true identity is because of priority shifts. Kumoko wanted to become a god so she could escape the dying planet once she learned what was going on from Lvl 10 Taboo, but when she finally became a god she couldn't even use her powers so she remained stuck there. Then while powerless and trying to rediscover how to use her powers, everyone who was with her went out of their way to take care of her and protect her instead of dumping her for being a liability. This included Ariel herself, with whom Kumoko had been in a sort of cold war until LN7's events. And I seriously mean that they did basically everything, from carrying her around, chasing off perverts, buying her clothes and cosmetics and tending to her when sick, because Kumoko's unagumented god body is actually incredibly frail, all the drawbacks of actual albinism included. So, by the time Kumoko relearns how to use teleportation, which would finally allow her to leave the planet and all its baggage behind, Kumoko, now Shiraori, had different priorities. Rather than run, she wants to repay the life debts she feels she owes to Ariel and Oka, which means involving herself in the planet's affairs to save it, and to concern herself with the lives of the other reincarnations. She's also doing it for her own sense of pride, since she feels genuine admiration for Ariel and, believe it or not, D as well. Please ignore that tens of thousands of people are going to have to die for her plans to pan out, it's definitely nothing to worry about~~
note on the system: the system was made by D who is one comic administrator of hell systems of the universe so yeah the planet is one giant hell with humans, demons dying and reincarnation to fix the planet, ei: the human's wars broke the planet so the human/demon wars will fix it, the local administrator/gods watch and did practically nothing while the world burned so they will nothing while the world heals, dragons(/monsters are made from their essence I think) tried to pack up and leave with as much MO energy they can carry from the planet (about moon size) so now they are stuck there being killed to pay back what they stole/destroy in monster forms while a few that owned up what they did stay in dragon forms but must guard/restore parts of the world and die once and awhile (note most of the dragon stuff is base on the web comic and Japanese translation speculation so could be off) the angel lady's divinity/soul is the power source/engine/battery for the whole thing with the plan being the sinners paying back/fix the planet by dying a lot paying into the system that then builds a spell that restores the planet to something that can support itself and its creatures with the angel's soul covering any shortfalls afterwards the souls will pass on to the next stage and recover, problem being the past demon lord and the hero kinda learn parts of the system tried to take out D wrongly thinking if they kill D they will save the world instead they drained the system almost dry and now the damned souls of the planet will need to be milked dry to the breaking point with the angel lady with them unless someone gathers a lot MO, breaks/hacks the system and whole bunch other stuff them maybe they can do a partial restore of the planet that doesn't destroys everyone's souls
So not only that the teacher has that annoying "I'll protect my students even if they are starting to/almost/already killed each other" trope, but she's on the side of killing the planet they are on. Talk about creating an unlikable character when finally realizing it to be one. (Aside from the fact she knows how important spiders are in the past life)

Just for context; Oka herself knew Potimas was sus, but she was desperate to do anything for her students. What follows is basically years of conditioning clashing with her common sense as an adult telling her that Potimas is untrustworthy while also being the only one who can help her. Oka also isn't a teenager but an adult who had already settled into life when it was suddenly ripped from her, and she was already suffering from depressive tendencies. Oh, and Oka knows absolutely nothing about Potimas machines or anything to do with ANYTHING truly shady he did, including the human trafficking. There is a subsection of the elf population that is kept ignorant of the dark side of the elves and Potimas, and Potimas has Oka surrounded by these guys constantly, which helps reassure Oka that even if Potimas is kind of sus, "at least he has good people around him," which leads Oka to implicitly trust him and the elves first. Oka definitely is shady, sure, but without fail I am amazed by every Oka hater I see, it seriously sounds like they hate Oka or blame Oka more than *Potimas.* Literally nothing bad that ever happened in KumoDesu would have happened if not for Potimas. The only reason Oka even does the shady things is because D basically tossed her into Potimas' clutches. The only reason *Kumoko* doesn't just spirit away Oka to her side before she does anything shady is because of Potimas being able to take over her soul at any moment if provoked.
You gotta remember that Kumoko doesn't just leave on the first visit to D if i remember right D mentioned the fact that naming actually makes a connection with the namer and the named and she thinks about the fact that she kind of limited her freedom by doing it and then at the end said something like "fly as freely as you can while still in my hands" or something like that and then Kumoko gets teleported home and then immediately is like "was that a pick up line" and the best part is that she at some point thinks "the worst part about it is i kinda would be fine with it" while thinking about her future as a god who probably would be under the control of D I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PART and my Yuri addiction probably showed it's first signs at that point
ljust here to inform yall that the japanese version of the LN has ended with vol 16 i think the english translation is up to vol 13 only so far so i really need it to be translated already also the wn is over and so is its translations the author ended the wn after he finished the LN so the ending in the wn was a bit rushed hopefully i get to see a better ending in the LN lookin forward for more of okina baba's works
Yeah the thing about anime these days is that most anime only skim the surface of a story over 1 or 2 seasons to get people interested in the light novels and/or manga etc The issue with this is not everyone can or is actually willing to READ a book/novel/graphic novel etc. This is sometimes also why people prefer the dub over the sub, they don't want to sit there reading subtitles. And the problem with THOSE is: a. if people refuse to (or can't) read the source material they're really missing out on details that can make a seemingly disjointed story actually make sense and gives the wrong first impression b. dubbed dialouge often get changed from the subbed and this results in [sometimes severe] mistranslations which could give a sentence a completely different meaning from the sub It's just not good

Volume 13 was good too. Best book since 10. Covers the events of volumes 4 and 5 from the spider perspective, with an epic battle at the end and massive world building. Oh, now the long wait till volume 14 comes out... Will likely catch up with the human arc.
If I recall correctly it was because the hero is the only one who can kill the demon lord so killing the hero kept Ariel safe and helped keep the demon vs human war going. It has been a while since I read it though so my answer might be off.
spoiler. . . .. . . . . .. . . the hero skills has an ability that empowers the hero to be equal to the demon lord this causes two major issues first he is now a threat and B because of how far apart the two are normally if that happens it would literaly cause the apocalypse due to using to much energy
And, I guess a fragment of her soul too, giving her the right mindset to grow extremely powerful in this relatively quickly without breaking down like most people would in her situation despite being born a mere tiny tesseract.
I love the part of the ln were ariel realize how kumoko resurect and give of on killing here since in that point was still a truce because ariel was stil mad for the death of the queen taratec
QUICK Explanation based on ep 1. Wakaba = Actually A God pretending to be a High Schooler. so her enemies tried to kill her which targeted the whole class. which reincarnated to another world. Kumuko = Is an actual spider. a real life spider in the classroom that got reincarnated too. but Wakaba (God) is lazy af so she put some memories of the human Wakaba into her. So yeah that's the main reason the MC is a spider cuz she actually is a spider. This is what happens if you put a human intellect on creatures, they destroy worlds.
where should u start the light novel? Volume 1 you plebs. dont even have to watch the video (am going to now anyway) but this is seriously one of the best light novels to have ever been adapted to anime, however, the greatest way to experience it is via the light novel.

Even better is that D turned her into a dragon. D actually dislikes dragons, so while an outside perspective might find being reborn as a dragon to be a win, from D's view it's actually evidence that Mirei's bullying was annoying enough that D turned her into something she *actually* hates.

bro the webnovel is so different wtf??? the info dump in the ufo arc is in a separate arc called "The Past Arc" basically explaining black dragon's and the angels relationship and what happened, so i was so confused when you kept saying the past arc, the LN past arc i think is called the war arc? idk, great vid tho

Okay to be fair, vampire girl's jandere tendencies were established in the volume of the manga, just where the anime ended the fact it gets to the point where you can say "poor dude", doesn't shock me what so ever. as for anime only; if you're not gonna read the LN or WN, at least read the manga
The novel is different in places, like kumoko becomes a god by accidentally touching a MA generator while on the run from the demon lord. The parralel minds never revolted it was just kumoko got the idea to cause mass extinction to fix the planet, and the demons declared war on humans to get to the elves as the elves hid deep in human territory
