SO... I'M MOVING TO PARIS 🇫🇷 

Congrats! I have just moved from Paris after a year. Loved it! Top secret tip: there’s a side entrance to the Louvre enabling you to skip the big queue at the pyramid if you have bought a ticket online. You get to enjoy the smugness of skipping the queue as well as the art! There’s a great English bookshop called the abbey bookshop in saint germain des pres, you will love. For accommodation, I used Paris Attitude agency. You pay an agency fee but I was concerned about potential scams so I opted for an agency. I stayed in a studio in Montmartre initially and then in a studio near Notre-Dame at the end. Parisiens were great and just had the best time overall. It’s expensive though and I ate too much pain au chocolat!

I've lived Paris and the suburbs for 7 years now as someone from Texas. It was a dream of mine to come here too. It's great to see how excited you are to live this romantic dream and I do feel like it's a greatly romantic place, but once you work here to make a living, you realize why so many people leave eventually. I hope to stay a long time

If the cosmos was fair, every person on the planet would have a semester in Paris, reading Proust on an autumn park bench. It isn't fair, but it is occasionally beautiful. So happy for you, Maria.

This is so great! I also study literature and others in Paris (actually this is what we call an hypokhâgne (1st year) and khâgne (2nd year), we study literature, history, philosophy, history of arts, geography, languages (etc) to prepare a big big exam but we are not in an uni but still in an high school). BUT, the high school where I go is next to one of the Paris III campus (at Nation) and I think there are some literature courses there (the library of the uni is so great, I love to study there). There is an excellent restaurant near this campus which is called Odette et Charlus (rue des Pyrénées, 20th arrondissement), it is an hommage to Proust and the food is AMAZING!

I don't live in Paris but I know you should visit Shakespeare and Co., named after the original one opened by Silvia Beach. If you have time to read anything not related to your studies I highly recommend my favorite Hemingway book, A Moveable Feast, about his time in Paris in the 1920's and his friendship with Fitzgerald and others. It's short so it won't take long to read.

C'est l'un de textes que j'aime le plus, tu m'en diras de nouvelles ! Je suis en train de lire > pour la énième fois, avec la version anglaise de Beckett lui-même à côté. Voilà deux textes et auteurs sans lesquels je ne saurais concevoir la littérature. Va faire le tour des maisons et tombeaux de tant d'écrivains ! J'ai hâte déjà de voir ta première vídeo parisienne. Félicitations pour cette heureuse nouvelle ! Je suis une ancienne étudiante en Littérature, et je vis à Paris ! Je connais pas mal de cafés beaux et pas chers (c'est très rare ahah), ainsi que les meilleurs librairies de la ville (les meilleures sont les moins bondées, Shakespeare and co est connue mais... essentiellement destinée aux touristes ou aux anglophones, les parisiens ont de meilleures adresses ;) ). C'est une ville très touristique, mais on peut très bien y vivre et passer entre les mailles de la masse touristique ! Bonne chance pour trouver un logement, c'est ce qu'il y a de plus dur à Paris ! Les loyers y sont chers malheureusement... Pourquoi pas se rencontrer lors d'une rencontre collective (même si je ne suis pas vraiment fan de ça...), ou autre, même si je suis sûre que tu trouveras des gens autour de toi, dans ta fac notamment, qui pourront te conseiller à merveille ! Dernière chose, les parisiens peuvent être froids et distants au premier abord (peut-être timides même !), mais il ne faut pas hésiter à engager les conversations la première ! Bon séjour parmi nous ^^
