The Surge 2 is a 2019 action role-playing video game developed by Deck13 Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive, that is the sequel to The Surge. The game was released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One on 24 September 2019. It received positive reviews from critics.

the directonal parry system is what i love about this game. you have to get used to it but man when you got it down its so great! also that disarm animation is SICK never saw that one before since i never used spears.

Character customisation in Surge 2 is so great, there's even option to choose your background, lol. I remember some options being: 1) you are a corporate rat at office job. 2) you are an ex-military, veteran of the Moon Wars (wow!) 3) you are exo-rig mechanic. Like car mechanic, but your car is bolted to yourself. 4) you are a career criminal with speciality in illegal exo-rig mods. Your background changes absolutely NOTHING and it has no influence in-game but it sounds fckn cool.

Just some advice for farming you should make a vulture load out. It helps farming go a lot faster.

Haven’t finished watching yet, but you can store energy into your healing implant but just holding down the heal button, the amount you can store depends on upgrading it- hope you enjoy!

The item description says at current lvl you can store two of those ‘blue batteries’, basically you have two heals ready to use anytime you want, (goes up with upgrades) especially good in combat with a good energy build, you can be self sufficient with heals infinitely 👍👍

HOLY SHOOT man, I just realized. Oh my god now that's The detail. The one of which they usually say 'Little details that go unnoticed until you re-watch it again' in the movies, and stuff. Look at the background in a character customization screen/room. Like, how could I never notice it? Mind=blown. (Might be spoiler material, or not, I dunno) And yeah, right from the start I remembered what exactly wasn't hooking me in the sequel compared to TS1. The starting area (and the tutorial area as well. Kind of), it's just meh even visually. The deserted high-contrast lit by the sun surroundings of the CREO facility in TS1 were so much better than that. I'm also a bit of a graphics guy, so naturally when I saw how dumbed down the reflections were in TS2, it shocked me, and left me sad. Seriously, in TS1 the visuals are solid even today: bright lens flares, gorgeous reflections, strong lighting & shadows, and all that from the very start of the game. While in TS2 what do we have here? Some weak effects, ugly cubemap reflections (and don't get me started on that awful river down there), and that bland flat looking filter over the city hanging out like a sore thumb. And the next area with Lil Johnny boss is even worse, the postprocessing stuff is ruining TS2. Or at least it's doing it a huge disservice if you ask me. It just feels incoherent visually, whereas TS1, again, feels and looks rock solid beautiful from the very start. It's not like I'm hating on visuals of TS2, it's just... I dunno, I feel like devs opt for downgrading the engine feature set to make it run better on the hardware of the time (mind, the game offered a fully fledged open world, it definitely increased the perf load compared to more linear levels of TS1). But on the other side, the directional blocking & parrying stuff is lit, as well as some QoL improvements (like that short sound that informs you when the battery segment is charged, and another - now continuous - sound combined with segments flickering red when the battery is about to go off) - good stuff, quite helpful.

Yeah , visually the surge 1 was more solid.. the surge 2, i guess it was a product of the time it was made in, the world probably took its toll on performance , and even graphically it doesnt seem as good as the first one.. but to me , the biggest offender are indeed the filters they drop in some areas that make it look unnatural, maybe that was intended considering the game isnt exactly striving for realism.. plus the color balance sometimes just feels off...and that includes some of the lighting too... the visual quality of the second game feels a bit inconsistent :(

@@ruikiri Yeah, I totally agree. Like, I get a feeling the filters and stuff were kinda intentional in a way how devs wanted to show & translate the mood of some areas to the player. The ethereal state of the world that was changed (or should I say twisted, or damaged) by the nanites, that kinda stuff. The poisonous ill-looking Port Nixon which ended up engulfed in toxic waste all around the place is a great example. Now it's basically a your-typical-mandatory-dark-souls-swamp over there. But personally (and honestly speaking) I wasn't a fan of this. Of course I do love me some trippy-moody effects in videogames, I'm not completely against it if used properly (where it fits the best), but here it didn't hit me the right way. The later areas are much better though, especially the Gideon's Rock. But... it came after the Port Nixon, so my initial impression was already tainted in a way. Still a great overall game, I wish they would produce the third one in this actual decade, haha.
