I’ll never understand how they cancelled the second season of this show, even with fan petitions, only to sign off on tall girl 2 😑

The way Netflix did us so dirty cancelling this show. I'm convinced Netflix doesn't want to make money, because the lengths I'd go to see a season two is wild.

I wanted each of the boys to have their own “Unsaid Emily” type moment where they address their lives’ unresolved traumas through song in future seasons 😭😭😭

fun fact: they were originally going to be an actual band, but COVID got in the way 😭😭

Just FYI, they sang live in the show. If you download and listen to the recorded versions, the songs sound different. They are singing and playing live in each episode. I have noticed some parts where things don’t sync perfectly but I suppose they do multiple takes of a performance and the editors cut them together.

I will never forgive Netflix for canceling this beloved show. I was so obsessed with the songs, the characters, the emotional moments, Everything about this show. So obsessed I finished season 1 in a single day, this show had me in tears, and watched it multiple times. I was so excited for a season 2, literally counting the days. When I found how this show was cancelled, I legit cried

netflix broke my heart when they cancelled this, now i'm scared to get invested whenever they put out new shows lmfao

i remember when my sister started singing these songs and i just thought "oh here we go, another mediocre disney show" but then i watched it (as a 18 year old at the time) ....BANGER, the songs were so catchy, the story was intriguing, the chemistry between all the actors was electric, the acting (especially Charlie/Luke's) was INCREDIBLE. It was just such a nice show to watch, especially when we were in the middle of the pandemic. It literally had no promotion, but still made a mark. The audience loved it, the critics loved it, it literally won AN EMMY, but Netflix cancelled this, but decided to renew/make Tall Girl 2, Emily in Paris, Princess Switch 3. This was when I stopped getting invested in Netflix shows and also ironically when Netflix REALLY started losing subscribers for the first time ever. The biggest mistake they ever made😭 i will never not be angry🤦🏽‍♀

You can tell that this is a Kenny Ortega production because everything he touches is magical. In other project he actually do work with the same actors from time to time. He also done a amazing job with The Descendants trilogy on the Disney Channel working with actor Booboo Stewart again on this series.

Some one made a Netflix executive mad. This was personal and you can’t convince me otherwise. The show was very popular if it was any other show it would have been renewed but not this one? Nah someone did something to piss someone off and they did this out of spite

I literally watched this show 2 days after it came out because I wanted background noise to fall asleep to and I ended up staying up until 5 am to binge the whole thing. Like this show actually changed the trajectory of my life and I will NEVER forgive Netflix for canceling it. Still listen to the songs to this day, absolute bangers.

They didn't give any update on the show for a whole 9 months, and then after that 9 months Netflix announced the show was cancelled. I'll never be over it, this show is so beautiful and magical, the cast is phenomenal and there was so much more potential for a second season and even a tour. Ahhhhhhggg they deserved better

This show is full of easter eggs. A great reunion show would be to trace all of them. The missing person poster behind Luke's head as they eat the hotdogs. Rose is obviously Julie's Mom as she is wearing the vest when she meets the guys in episode one and Julie wears the vest for her performance in episode 6. And the concert tickets for Rose and the Petal Pushers on the lid of Julie's Moms chest. And the Dalias, Rose's favorite flower, throughout the series. Including a vase full at Luke's parents home as he tearfully visits them. The fact that Flynn wears a lock on a necklace and Willie wears a necklace with a key. When Luke and the boys are in Julie's room and Luke is mysteriously drawn to her "dream box." And on and on and on. A great show. Deserved a season 2.

My theory on how the boys were able to feel stronger is exactly how Caleb owns the people's soul?? Julie just unintentionally own the boys's soul because of their connection probably

Also everyone in this show who playing instruments & sings are actually playing the instruments & their actual voices too. The cast & everyone who made this show possible did an AMAZING job! Logan is Mexican on his mother's side of the family. James is European Jewish. Kendall is of various European ethnicities, and Carlos is European, South American, and Caribbean. Sounds diverse to me but then I don't pay much attention to skin color bc anyone can be any shade and end up having an ethnicity that's unexpected. Now I want to go watch BTR again. Darn it!

My best guess is that they cancelled it due to the difference in age of the actors! During the time the actress who played Julie was 16 (15 during filming), and the actor who played Luke was 22 (21 while filming)! That was the only thing I could think of as to why they would cancel because the songs, the plot, and the writing was good!

The songs are awesome and you should have seen all of the episodes cuz I have and the phantoms are so beautiful and very inspiring
