I’m ngl I really loved it! I just felt really happy to go along with this new story in a time period that we’ve never explored, and therefore not constrained by the Skywalker saga timeline. I actually quite enjoyed all the characters, particularly Sol, and thought the locations/sets were terrific. The music also kept reminding me of A New Hope, which is never a bad thing. The show is presenting us with a really intriguing story. I’m all in! 😊

Bunch of weird stuff in this show… - Why do that one padawan and the stuck up guy hate each other? Their banter isn’t funny, it’s just weird. - Why did the ending of the first episode consist of a really wonky reveal of a Sith lightsaber, immediately followed by a smash cut to the credits? Weirdest editing I’ve seen in a while. - Why do all of the Jedi fight Mae practically with their hands in their pockets? Capture her, you egotistical dweebs. She’s trying so hard and she’s barely a threat. - The green bald Jedi has to secretly be Mae’s master, right? Unless they’re gearing up for a classic expectation subversion and it’s just gonna be some random person no one’s ever heard of - When Mae and Osha were staring each other down and then Osha tried to shoot her with the stun gun, but missed her by a country mile, I laughed harder than I’ve ever ever laughed at a Star Wars property - What’s the deal with that one prisoner with a retractable tentacle for a forehead? Weirdo - Why does Mae say “Attack me with all of your strength” and strike a pose whenever she’s confronting a Jedi? It feels so unnatural and awkward - I have a feeling that when it’s revealed what happened with the 4 Jedi 16 years ago when Mae “died”, there’s no way it’s not gonna seem kind of weak sauce Things I liked: - Manny Jacinto is awesome as always - Osha’s droid is a great design, I think perhaps inspired by Lowbacca’s translator droid M-TD in Legends - Finally, we’re back to Jedi actually using the Force to do things

Was it just me or did a bunch of those fight scenes just seem like copy and pasted? Like they were good fights but for like large sections of the fights (mainly May’s fights) there was a lot of similar actions made in the exact same way. Also, I do think it’s kind of stupid that The Acolyte (May) says she will kill the Jedi with no weapons, but in her very first scene kills someone with a knife (which is a weapon). I dunno is that just me or does that feel like a bit of a plot hole.

Ngl I haven’t heard any real good criticism for the show besides it being a little bit slower paced but not really a horrible thing when building up your MCs imo. Most of the criticisms seem to be coming out of ppl who were criticizing it before it even released, with complaints about it being woke. I can’t take those seriously after watching the show and honestly those ppl seem like they would’ve hated it regardless if it was actually good or not. All the other criticisms are extremely nit picky and again I can’t help but feel like they are trying to justify absolute anger and hate for what is simply a good show with slower paced pilot episodes just like andor had. However I would not say it’s as slow paced as andor was in the beginning. I’d rate the first two episodes 8/10. My only criticisms besides the stakes not being super high, is that Disney can’t seem to get away from cantinas in their pilot episodes and every character having a marketable droid sidekick is beginning to be a tired trope for Star Wars. In the opening shot I couldn’t help but be a little annoyed because the place there is a entrance arch to the town that seems to be used in every Star Wars show that the characters walks thru and then ends up in a cantina. They need to stop making every town look so similar!😂 not a harsh critique but I think the more they step away from tropes, the better which is what the rest of episodes has done so I’m happy. Honestly not knowing the characters leaves them to do anything and anyone can die so that raises the stakes in of itself for me so I’m looking forward to what’s next🤷‍♂️

I’m glad someone else said it. The comedy and the characters felt too “sci-fi” and modern as opposed to Star Wars like if that makes sense. It’s like the comparisons of Indiana jones and treasure hunting movies there’s string directional difference to how those movies are made and this show does feel like that when I watched it. There were also elements that felt also fan-till level in terms of storytelling. Not sure if I was impressed with those aspects, but I did enjoy some of the original characters and I’m intrigued to know more as it continues.

Acolyte it is hot garbage, They gave the plot of the entire series away in the first 2 episodes basically. The mission of the story is to capture, kill, or turn Mae back from the Acolytes or the Darkside whatever it is. Also the story didn't make a lot of sense with these 2 episodes either we probably will find out later but still something feels out of order and left out. Also I want to know how these people can just walk around freely in a -50 degree weather in a blizzard and not start freezing, I get it is star wars and it is for 4 year olds now these days, but at least make them shiver a little bit I mean Osha just ran out in the blizzard and straight up did not get cold at all and had like 2 specks of snow on her in a blizzard. Surely Disney a multi-billion-dollar company has the resources and time to pay the actors to shiver in cold environments, or better yet the actors do a better job. Also, Disney hired directors and actors that don't even actually know what Star Wars is. Like this is just insane surely, they can find someone who has watched Prequels and the Original trilogy's, this is getting out of hand and Star Wars needs to be given back to its rightful owner who (George Lucas) actually knows Star Wars and what to do with it. Mark Hamill even hated reprising his role as Luke Skywalker after seeing that the script for him was the complete opposite of Luke Skywalker. Luke Skywalker was the most hopeful and optimistic Jedi ever. In the sequels he is just depressed and has no hope. Mark Hamill understood his character and what it meant, these actors now have no connection to their characters and no understanding of who or what they are. This is the biggest problem with Star Wars these days the only thing that is keeping Star Wars breathing is the 2008 Clone Wars Styled series. The voice actors are giving a connection to their characters very well and understand them mostly, some voice actors do not really give off any connection to their character. Dee Bradley Baker shows the most connection out of any of them which is why the Bad Batch and Clone Wars were such successful shows and gives a more favorable character. Dave Filoni understand each and every story in Star Wars, and most importantly he understood how it worked much like George Lucas. I can go on and on but unfortunately I don't feel like writing 15-50 paragraphs about the B.S. disney does

I don’t even have hype to watch this show to be honest. I’m buying into the fact that they just pulled the “marvel route”. This is gonna be so predictable and soft. I hope not but there’s a big chance this will flop

I think my biggest complaint so far is just how weak the Jedi seem to be despite this being at the height of their power. They train blindfolded and someone gets away from them by kicking up dirt? A Jedi master can't catch two knives at the same time? This is stuff Luke/Anakin/Ahsoka learned at the beginning of their training

I honestly loved the vibe, it felt similar to standard Star Wars but also different, I enjoyed the vibe but I haven’t been hooked yet. I’m keeping an open mind and I’m not gonna hate just to hate

I like Sol the best so far he is like an Asian Qui-Gon Jinn I wouldn’t be surprised if he defies the council in the next episode like Qui-Gon did frequently he also does not seem as scared of attachments than the other Jedi and so far he hasn’t drawn his weapon out of fear like the other Jedi in the show

Only complaint so far... I just wish the episodes were longer. I feel with longer episodes you could do more random stuff. The cities and streets seem so *budgeted* like they're concerned about paying too many extras. In Star Wars there's usually some random crap going on in the background like you're in some kind of Sci-Fi New York or something. These episodes would have more pop if there non-ship based areas had more life.

I liked it, not as good as Andor but for me at least, so far, it’s just below Mando. I know controversial but it might fall apart in the next episodes. I also liked Sol and Osha / Mae but also Jecki.

The fight choreography especially the fact that it's been so martial arts heavy has me excited for the rest, too many other star wars series felt bland and held back by being live action instead of animated, but they're putting in the effort here to make it actually work as a live action show

The twin gig was executed so poorly. They should've either built up tension for it over many episodes or showed it to us from the beginning. This was i was a bit confused then I knew it's probably a twin then the series confirms this

I wasn't expecting much, but the fight scenes made me trust the creators so much more. Because not only is the choreography great, but it does an amazing job of characterization through action. First of all, the fact that the Jedi fight using a Wing Chun derivative shows that they really understand their philosophy. They mostly use one hand, not moving anymore than they need too, and waiting for their opponent to come to them. It's all open palms, deflecting and redirecting as needed. Compare that to Mae, who's doing backflips and sweep kicks all over the place, which looks cool but isn't enough to win. Her fists are usually closed and she's always throwing kicks, which are much more powerful and aggressive. She's also breathing heavy and/or sweating, which is a really nice touch. Plot-wise I thought everything was pretty solid. Not wowed by the performances, but they held up imo. I know most people already made up their minds before they even saw a trailer, but I'm much more optimistic now.

I honestly don’t think it’s as bad as some people are saying. It’s not like it’s worse than Book of Boba Fett. Having said that, I feel like the reveal with the twins is a bit of a lame twist and I also really don’t like how we jumped into the murder of Carrie Ann Moss so soon. I think the script just wants to get to its destination quickly rather than actually letting us go on the journey. As a result, other than Sol, I don’t really care about these characters yet. And now that May knows her sister is alive, that kind of defeats the purpose of what she’s doing and it’s only episode 2. I don’t know. I was expecting a really bad show and it’s just okay at best and boring at worst.

What happened to tv shows? It used to be a series got 26 episodes minimum. Now they have a short movie, cut it in two, "let's call it a tv show.."

The show from what I saw was pretty mid. Like it's not bad at all. I really like the styling and how the Jedi are portrayed here, seemingly like they have more control over the force than the prequel era Jedi. I feel like it hints at them losing their way down the line, thus their connection to the force is diminished. It definitely looks like it's set in a golden age, which is a very interesting take. Everything looks lived in but kept at a higher standard.

They are guilty of the worst crime in entertainment, they are boring. It looks like a sitcom that was filmed in galaxies edge at Disney.

If Andor was a sci-fi Star Wars-themed spy/political drama, then the Acolyte is a sci-fi Star Wars-themed mystery thriller. So far, it certainly isn't competing with Andor, but it is pretty refreshing, not just in the quality of the marshal-arts style fighting, but also its in-universe setting and the style of the narrative.

I'm watching this without having seen Ahsoka or Andor cuz it's so back in the past I don't need any context to get the plot. Not part of the big Skywalker family drama, so the 'Coruscant' name drop is good for those trying out Star Wars for the first time with this series. So far so good (also Yord can get it).

I find it really interesting how the robes the High Republic era jedi wear in the Jedi Temple are like a more ceremonial role, while the robes they wear on missions are more on par with the Jedi just before the Clone Wars. I also love the sound the golden lightsaber makes. Also whoever "The Master" is makes me excited to see him mop the floor with the Jedi

Just from the setup, I am loving this show and where I think it's going. The Prequels didn't do a really great job exposing the corruption and the mistakes of the Jedi Order. This series is Showing us the problems, making a full throated argument of Why it needed to fall. They were so convinced they were the good guys, they could excuse any number of Dark Actions in service of the "Greater Good". They became Arrogant and Elitist, far too comfortable with their position of dominance, using their powers on the common person with no thought to preserving agency and dignity. Even our hero, Sol, is a little too comfortable relying on mind tricks to interrogate a suspect, robbing that person of agency entirely, making them a puppet.

I love the fight scenes so far. I read some reviews complaining that it wasn’t practical and actual fighting and too dance-like… Star Wars fighting IS choreography. Have you watched the prequels? The fighting is beautiful and it flows so well. Ppl judge too quickly and just for the sake of hating. Of course it’s not the best series so far with the deepest story and it’s probably not going to be like that or Andor but just enjoy! Sheesh (sry had to let that out)

I agree Star Wars relies on too much in universe knowledge. It’s one of the reasons I never liked the marvel movies, I didn’t want to watch the crappy movies to fully understand the good ones, and I believe it may turn off casual fans of Star Wars.

As a fan myself of Star Wars the hate from the fanbase is justified, when you have Disney call you a racist, bigot, and sexiest with no evidence what's so ever it's going to piss a lot of people off and disrespectful to your fanbase which has existed long before Disney took over and decide to retcon everything to justify their actions, the fans have every right to judge this show whether its full season is out or not because these shows follow the same pattern as the others bad writing, ridiculous fight choreography, changing the lore to fit the plot and of course DEI. The other reason is that they are more focused on what race the characters are and their sexuality instead of telling a story and this is Kathleen Kennedy and Leslye headland openly saying these things it's not coming from the fans its them promoting their own ideals and shoving them into the Star Wars and if call them out on that well it's just like i pointed out in first paragraph, people just want a simple story to be told they don't want real life problems or political ideals brought into a fantasy story/sc-fi story and were just not getting that from Disney. As for the episode itself not a strong opening, if you are a assassin you don't openly walk up to a jedi and say "im here to kill you fight me at your strongest" then you are probably stupid but hey don't take my word for it HK-47 could tell you more about that, also if someone threating to kill you and is attempting to kill you do not wait to draw your weapon and fight back even if you are a superior fighter because it can you get you killed (especially if you are a jedi master there is no reason at all that this fight should of gone this way) but i won't spoil anymore then i already have if you personal like the show or you want to give a chance more power to you however just remember that other side complaints are not random or out touch it's because of what they are seeing and hearing is true.

I found it reminiscent of the original trilogy, I liked it. Personally I found Andor boring, I really struggled to get through it, and I’m amazed it’s getting a second season.

Every Jedi having their hairstyles being nice and clean is so un real these Jedi look like they get ready before going to work ewan in episode 2 just has long hair that’s it and for the 3rd one I’ll give him a pass because through the movies you see a change in hairstyle more mature but the padawans look like they are going clubbing with dreads long fancy hair or even messy hair last time I recall padawans had their hair cuts just like an army why do they look like models here

The show seams to relies on the fact that the Jedi don't used their light saber but instead used Force Martial art (Not the type where Mace Windu force punch through steel to destroy droids but regular martial art where they deflecting punches with their hands) against a armed dark side assassin that willing to kill innocent people.

found it extremely average, not sure on costumes and alien looks, didn't catch nor remember any of their names. don't get the sexualisation of the guy in front of the kid. They just hang their hook on the martial arts.
