Finally another episode of road to ranked where Aaron "Cybertron" Zheng climbs the online regulation E vgc ladder in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and provides live commentary as he goes!
QOTD answer: the returning regis! Registeel and Regice have very interesting defensive and support capabilities, but can be held back by their typing. I've been excited to see how they can use tera all year!
Great job at San Antonio Aaron! Wish I had gotten the chance to meet you but ended up having to leave early. You have another regional win coming soon I can feel it!
Hey , Aaron! Here is Liam , Just want to say thank you again , It was so happy to see you at Taipei , I will keep surpport your channel , hope you have a nice day
But that's just because an actual better pokemon is not available. So to use a niche pokemon, you have to hope that the regulation bans its competition. Usually only support pokemon have this possibility, as it's not possible to ban so many offensive pokemon that have power crept. There's a reason such pokemon are not seen in a regulation where there's little to no bans. Example, kanto Arcanine is just inferior to Incineroar and only see usage when Incineroar is banned, Pachirisu is never seen in formats where there are other follow me users.
@@lomna17 I agree and respect that the team building aspect is impressive, but find it misleading and disingenuous to say any obscure pokemon can find a niche. In most cases, it is not that a new niche was discovered and used, but rather to fulfil a previous role that is currently unavailable.
QOTD: Hydrapple because in the shortest time it has become one of my favorite Pokémon ever… everything from the stats making it actually usable for me to the design which is super fun to the typing (my favorite type combination in the game) to all the funny cultural/mythological references it can be connected to… it feels like this Pokémon was made specifically to cater towards me and my whack interests!!!
QOTD: I would really like to see a team based of Serperior. I think it has some potential w/ Contrary+ Leaf Storm as well as maybe some pledge set ups strats with other starters like Primarina or maybe Charizard or Typhlosion. The addition of Tera can really help out Serperior as well
Hey Cyberyron This is the rocky Helmet Guy From San Antonio🪨🪖 Sorry for Catching you before the live battle but Taking that quick selfi with you meant a lot😢 It was my first regional and i was going down 1-5 and very out of my element, and meeting you (for as short as it was) Definitely made it worth it! Thank You😊
QOTD: Hyrdapple! Not only have I always loved the line and designs, but it has very solid stats, regenerator, and fickle beam having 30% chance to do base 160 damage is very powerful. Can be a great support Pokémon that can also dish out damage, like a more offensive amoongus
To answer the QOTD, definitely Archaludon. Stamina + a Beat Up user like Whimsicott is an insane combo, since Whimsicott can also use Tailwind to make Archaludon move before others, and Fake Tears if you don’t want to use Body Press. Stalwart is also pretty good and less gimmicky, but not as strong imo.
Stalwart is really good considering how much redirection like amoonguss, ogerpon, indeedee, and sinistcha in the meta. Plus some obscure ones like Maushold and clefairy too
@@caiobotelho5884 good point, but I think it’s Archaludon’s attacks that keep me from using Stalwart. Electro Shot is resisted by Amoonguss, Sinistcha, and Ogerpon, and the 2 most common forms of Ogerpon and Urshifu-Rapid resist Flash Cannon. I’d say Stalwart is best with Rain + Electro Shot, where Tornadus or Pelipper can hit those Pokemon I mentioned with super effective Bleakwinds or Hurricanes. I personally prefer Stamina + Beat Up Whimsicott because I like gimmicky stuff that actually works effectively, but these are just my thoughts.
For the QOTD, I'd like to see you showcase eviolite duraludon. I think it is not being looked at enough. Another one would be rhyperior who I think between tera and solid rock will be absurdly strong in the format going forward.
QOTD: I'd kinda like to see if a Stellar Enamorous with Tera Blast is worth it. It could be an interesting prospect, with the Contrary feature. If we also play it with Fake Tears Whimsicott, it might also become a wall even without being the Therian Forme, only being weird against Urshifu.
I'd love to see Walking Wake be used if it ends up being legal. I love that it can be strong in both sun and rain teams with its signature move and it's design imo is top tier.
Thanks Aaron, I've been using Illumise and now everyone is going to be wary of my little prankster. XD Great video, looking forward to some Reg F content.
I am too, but I honestly have low expectations because of all the dark/ghost types available; Gholdengo, Flutter Mane, Urshifu, Chi Yu, I'm afraid there are too many good, powerful mons that check Metagross for it to excel the way it should :(
Super cool team! :D also really thankful to meet ya in San Antonio bro, hope to get to battle you one of these days! Thank you for all the amazing content!
Hey Cybertron! I think we ran into each other on the ladder. I was FarigirafFan with a Farigiraf that survived from chiyu and flutter open. If it was you that would be hype as I've learned so much this year from you on how to play Vgc and I love truly playing the best. QOTD I am a huge fan of the long neck monsters, if you have a way to use Alolan Eggxecutor I would watch that in a heart beat! Not sure how viable he is but here is hoping. I don't think it's gonna happen but if the new paradox mon are in reg F I'd love to see you use Raging Bolt! Always love your content keep up the great work and good luck at your next regionals!
QOTD: I really want to see a Serperior video. Serp hasn't been available to use in so many years, it's realistic to think that there's a huge chunk of the current player base whose never even seen one online. I'm very excited to see how people utilize Contrary Leaf Storm in a format dominated by urshifu.
This feels like a pachirusu situation where Asia cook out outside the meta and finds a Pokémon that fills a VERY specific niche but ends up winning a huge tournament.
QOTD: Hydrapple! I think Assault Vest Regenerator Pollen Puff sets look very cool and fun. I know that I will be working on a Hydrapple/Heatran core going into Reg F.
bro what an Amazing Team 🫡🙏🏾 it inspired me to build my own reg F version of the team I got from 0 - 1350 in reg F on Showdown with this team Strategie is basically the same but Raging bolt makes this team so much stronger ist unbelievable and rillaboom as an add on to counter terrain not today :) (Flutter Mane) @ Life Orb Ability: Protosynthesis Shiny: Yes Tera Type: Fairy EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Moonblast - Dazzling Gleam - Shadow Ball - Protect never mind (Whimsicott) (F) @ Covert Cloak Ability: Prankster Shiny: Yes Tera Type: Dark EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Tailwind - Fake Tears - Encore - Taunt Fish Stick (Chi-Yu) @ Focus Sash Ability: Beads of Ruin Tera Type: Grass EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Heat Wave - Tera Blast - Dark Pulse - Protect Monkey D Grass (Rillaboom) (M) @ Assault Vest Ability: Grassy Surge Level: 50 Tera Type: Fire EVs: 244 HP / 132 Atk / 36 Def / 44 SpD / 52 Spe Adamant Nature - Fake Out - Wood Hammer - Grassy Glide - U-turn Aqua woMEN (Ogerpon-Wellspring) (F) @ Wellspring Mask Ability: Water Absorb Level: 50 Tera Type: Water EVs: 132 HP / 132 Atk / 44 Def / 4 SpD / 196 Spe Adamant Nature - Follow Me - Ivy Cudgel - Horn Leech - Spiky Shield Mr very long Neck (Raging Bolt) @ Booster Energy Ability: Protosynthesis Level: 50 Tera Type: Electric EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Thunderclap - Dragon Pulse - Protect - Calm Mind
Hey guys. It's Aaron "Cybertron" Zheng there and soon he'll be back with another episode of Road to Ranked where he climbs the online regulation F VGC ladder and provide live comentary as he goes!
Hey Aaron, i hope your vacation went well! QOTD: I feel like wolfey will do something with this first but i want to see a team that features both Alolan Exeggutor and Raging Bolt (for the ultimate long neck action)
Hi Aaron! In game four, I didn't really understand the forfeit too well... wouldn't Chi-Yu have survived Grassy Glide without Chien-Pao on the field? Or was Urshifu faster than Chi-Yu? Also, Grassy Terrain wasn't on the field anymore! Love your videos, just need some help clarifying so I can learn and understand better. Thanks!
QOTD: I would love to see a rain team, I've been using Landorus-I & Kingdra with a Pelipper and I've been having a lot of fun with it, I think you would enjoy weather in this next format.
Was the Taipei Regional streamed or recorded? Does anyone know where we could watch? I’d like to see the matches, but I am unsuccessful searching for them.
QoTD: i have a few from both dlcs, lol. mandibuzz, ludiloco, and probopass from dlc1. alcremie, skarmory, comfey, whimsicott (which i KNOW ill see at some point), bastiodon, lanturn, tentacruel, and meganium from dlc 2. thanks so much for the vid and happy holidays~
I'd like to see you utilize how the new mons from the DLC effect your own pokemon. Like how Weezing can reset your own abilities or how you can utilize Skill Swap on Contrary Malamar with a mon that knows superpower or something. Essentially a strategy that wins by targeting themselves.
QOTD: I'm excited to see Incineroar back. I know, I know. I want to see how it plays with Terrastalization as an option. Will be nice to see Whimsicott back, as well. For new mons, Hydrapple is cool. Id like to see what it can do. Gouging Fire also piques my interest.
QOTD answer: I would personally love to see a team with Araquanid. It honestly became one of my favorite pokemon, definitely in gen 7, and I feel like there is something possible with it.
Archaludon is very capable as long as your opponent doesn’t have a strong special attacker. As long as your team has a dark type, something to punish intimidate, and an answer to beat up, you’re very well positioned.
I think you should make ur own meta team and also anti meta team each season so we can atleast get two teams made by the goat himself each season…. other teams are cool but as a beginner and Zang fan, it would be love to start each season off with a meta and anti meta team to help us learn and navigate the format better/faster. Maybe like a month in of a new season or something like that you could drop your own two teams
QOTD: see if you can make iron boulder work. I tried psychic terrain clear amulet with 3 moves and protect. felt like I wasn’t doing anything idk maybe someone has a good sd set
QOTD: Iron Boulder. Mighty cleave seems completely busted but I really haven't quite been able to effectively use it myself. Would love to see a more skilled player using it and really bring out it's full potential
Hey guys, Aaron "Bug catcher" Zheng here, and today I'm back with another episode of "Road to Bug" where i climb the in game bug catching contest and provide live comentary as i go
hey Aaron, I've been meaning to ask you (or anyone that knows lol): how do you understand the names in mandarin/chinese similar languages. For me it's always a surprise on those teams to see who is coming up
I’m in the us east coast I’m over beating up on my locals and I’m always climbing to high elo in showdown and constantly am on win lose session with you and James I’m just trying to compete
Without knowing if the new paradoxes will be legal, i feel like you gotta go with hydrapple or archaludon. Although i have seen so many stamina archaludons on casual ladder i am already about sick of it 😂
I didn't know Encore doesn't work against Encore! Was so confused as to why the game 1 Sableye fails the second Encore. Like, there's no way this person used it again on the newly switched Ogerpon lol
