If they had reacted to the stuff that's ACTUALLY important in the LotR movies, I would have. But they skipped all their reactions to the important shit, so I'm out.
To me Boromir's story is one of the most human things in LOTR that I can relate to. Gondor is under regular attack from Orcs. He's been holding the border between Gondor and Mordor for years. And then his father tells him of an all-powerful ring that can end all that suffering and turmoil in a heartbeat. That's what he's led to believe. And in the end he realizes he's ff-ed up. And restores his honor by paying for it with his life. That's what makes him human to me. Especially next to characters like Gandalf, Aragorn and Legolas. Who hardly make any mistakes and are much more farsighted than him.
Boromir never lost any honor. People don't seem to realize the POWER that ring has over people, FAR more than drugs have over junkies, and junkies will betray their own parents for more drugs. You don't lose any honor by being controlled by the ring.
Boromir doesn't get enough of a story arc in the films imo. He is presented as arrogant already from the start. Yes, he redeems himself in the end, but his charachter would have been much more interesting if we had seen him get slowly corrupted over time rather than starting out as a prick. Everyone knows he's not to be trusted, so his fall never surprises the audience.
Actually I realized Aragorn did make mistakes. Aragorn is so good and honorable that he lets Wormtongue go… which results in him telling Saruman about the helms deep weakness, about Aragorn himself and of course he came back to hurt them. (Ned stark did it too, by being so good he warns Cersei which gets Robert and himself killed and begins all the wars)
But Boromir always was proud in the books. I never found it an accident that his name reminded you of the word boorish while his brother Faramir reminded you of the word fair. If anything Faramir was the one that got ill treatment in the movies. He never attempted to bring the ring to Gondor. From the time he had spent with Gandolf he was wise and he understood the nature of the ring immediately and wanted nothing to do with it.
Some horses in WW1 actually got awarded medals for their bravery and loyalty to their riders, even saving some like you saw with Aragorn. Tolkien was heavily inspired by WW1 when writing LOTR
probably the most decorated horse was a little Korean race horse with the name Reckless in the Korean war...she was credited with saving hundreds of marines by her actions...two purple hearts several general purpose decorations and was OFFICIALY made aa Marine...she retired out of the corp as a staff sarge...look her up
The dead marshes are widely believed to be inspired by the bomb craters Tolkien saw while he was a soldier. They would fill with dead bodies and rain water since battles could last for weeks.

Bodies were often impossible to remove from the battlefield, or they had been hastily buried where they fell. The artillery shelling would constantly create new craters and expose corpses that had been buried years before. They still find remains of soldiers in those fields to this day, even if there has been huge efforts to exhume all corpses and give them proper burials.
You need the extended edition for the third movie adds a lot and there is an opening scene with Saruman that was criminally cut. Great acting from a lot of the cast in that scene.
The extended edition spoils the tension with the Battle of Pelennor since the Ghost King says ‘We fight’ in that edition and it is left open in the theatrical so you never know if they’ll ever turn up

That shot of the Riders of Rohan galloping down the hill, with Gandalf leading them into battle is the definition of perfection. The music. The cinematography. So good.
Brad Dourif, the actor for Wormtongue, can cry when he wants. It’s a talent of his as an actor, he can shed a single tear on command. This was used during the scene revealing the 10 thousand Uruk-Hai. Remember, Brad Dourif is the voice of Chucky, the crazy-ass horror doll. He can ACT.
The "Your words are poison" scene with Eowyn is one that especially gives me a Shakespeare vibe. Dark, dank castle, anachronistic language, Evil Guy with a Damsel, powerful dialogue--just Hell Yeah!
Just the way he speaks and the sound of his voice makes me feel like I need to floss and vigorously brush my teeth! He's so good at playing the creepy weasely bad guys

@@joescott8877no they're right. 26:20 is near the beginning the sam's speech, and one of the most wonderful moments of this film and it was totally ignored. But I will say this: editing these films is NOT EASY. So while I, as an avid Tolkien fan, understand the sentiment, I also understand that it's super complicated to edit these, especially with copyright issues. They did a damn good job considering. And every reactor is unique. Just because we react a certain way and love the films doesn't mean their reaction doesn't have as much value. LOTR fans are the best and we love all reactions to our precious films 😅 🎉 I love them and I appreciate their work and I love the reactions

I saw a comment below mentioning how horses in World War One were awarded medals for bravery. For some of his time as an enlisted soldier Tolkien was an officer responsible for the horses, and he clearly had an intuitive understanding of the nature and personality of the horses. In the books the relationship, the mutual trust and affection, between Gandalf and Shadowfax and Sam and Bill the pony really come through. Plenty of passages never fail to make me tear up.
The Boromir Backstory was in the extended edition. Imagine how many were confused others were to the theatrical cut where the cinemas forced Peter Jackson to take out key information as he and the crew actually didn’t want to remove much. It’s all explained in the behind the scenes documentary films which show how much of a passion project it was. Grown to become one big family to rule them all!
It sucks how much had to be cut out. However, the Boromir/Faramir backstory was not cut. It was added and was a pickup shot that was filmed after The Return of the King came out.

I’m someone with Autism; these films along with all 25 of his books have really been a huge help in my life. Saved it in fact. Many people have stories of how it helped them survive cancer and so on! And or they watched these films with their mother or father who introduced the films and or the books to them before their passing so these films hold a huge spot in the hearts of millions of people for several unique reasons. Many beautiful stories are even shared on RU-vid. Via video and comments below various LOTR related videos or movie clips etc. ❤

One of the funnier things to look into was the filming of the battle of helms deep lol. Apparently it was so horrible they made shirts for the crew saying “I survived helms deep”
Two of the best lines in this movie are “this isn’t our war.” “But you’re part of this world!” And Sam’s entire speech at the end. Also, hell yes Gandalf’s triumphant charge! A lot of the messages in this are timeless but particularly prescient now.
One thing I tell people that isnt expressed that clearly in the movies, is that Legolas is also a prince who grew up in the elf realms when Aragorn was young. So they probably have a childhood friendship that predates the events of the movie, & explains why they have the kind of unspoken bond they do. They are like family
You guys thought that was a crazy battle. Wait until the third one. 10,000 orks in this one. Over 200,000 in the next one! Still one of the greatest battles in the history of film. Also, the third film (Return of the King) won 11 Oscars, which is tied for the all time record. No fantasy film has ever won best picture to my knowledge. Great reaction by the way. :)
Fun fact The gentleman that plays Gimli also does the voice for Treebeard And ive been a big fan of the films for like 15 years, and only found that out 4 years ago 😅

May I clarify? about Elrond & his daughter Arwen (& Aragorn by extension): therefore we must look at Elrond’s Twin Brother Elros, they both were half-elven brothers who can choose to be mortal or immortal because of their parents(Eärendil and Elwing) both half elven made a great sacrifice and went to Valinor to ask for help which lead to the greatest events in the early first and second age. Instead of being punished, the Valar listened to them, that led to a great hosts of Valar and Maiar And Vanyar Elves went to Middle Earth that laid waste to Beleriand. After the War Of Wrath, the valar rewarded them for their sacrifices. They can choose to be elf or men, including their children. They chose immortally, but never return to Middle Earth because they thought that their twin sons had died. But they didnt die. Elrond chose to be immortal while his twin brother Elros chose to be mortal. He became the first king of Númenor, named star-Minyatur. He lived upon this massive island gifted by the Valar+Eru(God); blessed with a long life that include his descendants Those men who fought for the war were rewarded a long life but not their families or children. Only the family of Elrond can choose to be immortal or mortal in which Arwen did. Aragorn is the direct descendant of Elros, thats why he has a long life. The average lifespan of a Numenorean at their height was a few thousand years maximum! Now remember too that half elves are a common thing and whenever they did come together it was always significant !❤❤❤ Remember this is the SHORT version, there are so many moving parts that will make you want to dive into the books or the audio books or even do reaction videos to the famous lore videos by the biggest lore channels out there! When you’re done the trilogy try doing reaction videos just like Moviejoob did now with the lore recently as well as OmarioRPG. If you look back on the original trilogy movies: The fellowship had a 3000year old Elven PRINCE in their party. And a clandestine angelic being who was Gandalf originally known Olòrin to those such as Galadriel who knew him when she lived in Valinor, Elrond also knew would be one of the only others who’d know this save Círdan The Shipwright(Oldest Elf in the world but even he was a few generations down from the original elvish peoples to awake to the stars) & kin to Thingol who also is a semi distant cousin to Legolas as Legolas’ grandfather was the close cousin to Thingol(same with Galadriel’s Husband Celeborn through his father, their capital within Lothlòrien was named after his father(Caras Galadhon) Galadhon being the name indicating that which belongs to the father. And a 87 year old Númenorean man named Aragorn!, a 335 year old Dwarven Prince named Gimli. And as a microcosm they resembled the coalition of all the races of middle earth uniting under one banner which is another reason it sort of metaphysically set into motion the world uniting at the macrocosm ! Galadriel's Phial (gift to Frodo) is something really special. light & dark have a spiritual dimension in Tolkien. way back before the First Age Valinor was lit by two very special Trees that waxed & waned in opposition to each other. a master craftsman Elf named Fëanor fashioned three gems that captured their light, the Silmarils. (And it’s same power and light was drawn into it from the very firmament where it now stands amongst the stars as Eärendil himself (Elrond’s father stands watch over The Doors Of Night where Melkor still is held until fate holds him no longer.) Everyone who saw them was captivated by them, even the Melkor(Morgoth); the first Dark Lord. Wars were fought over them called the Kinstrife after Morgoth had the Trees destroyed the Silmarils were the only light from them left and he stole them as you may remember, they changed hands a few times & eventually one was left after one fell into the sea & another was lost in a pit of magma. a Half Elf named Eärendil (the first one! Tolkien's lore is deep & vast & the Silmarils are at the center of it. The Star of Eärendil is the light that shines in the horizon both in the morning and the evening. It consists in a boat raised by the Valar and led by Eärendil, who carries a shining Silmaril while watching the Doors of Night. The Door of Night was a portal in the distant Uttermost West that leads to heaven, and/or the Void. Eärendil's ship Vingilot was taken by the Valar from the rim of the world, passed through the Door and was lifted into the "oceans of heaven". PS: Eärendil is ELROND’s half Vanyar Elf half human father, that father was the son of the great Tuor of the great stories of The Children Of Húrin book!❤❤❤❤ Aragorn is a CLOSE descendant of a direct bloodline to Elros(Elrond’s Twin Brother). Inspired an entire genre of film, literature and even all video games, including D&D. The good guys fought 10,000 orcs in this movie. They fight around 250,000 in the next one. Along with flying Nazgul and some other surprises. Sauron is not kidding around. And the ending is incredible.

Awesome reaction to this movie. Fun little note since you guys seem to be rockin with Boromirs character. When he died in the first movie and they where on the beach pushing his boat over the falls, Aragorn took his arm guards and he wears them throughout the movie trilogy. So, in a way, a small part of Boromir is still helping out the fellowship.
In the books Faramir never tries to take the ring, he shows his quality in that he wasn’t tempted. Not everyone can even be tempted by the ring, if what you want isn’t something power can give you, like a simple life, then the ring can’t really work on you.

Loving the reaction and how you are getting into the story. If you ever decide to do The Hobbit trilogy, just remember it is a prequel, and Bilbos story. It is also not as intense, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote The Hobbit first for his kids when they were young which is why it is not as intense as his other books. Due to the popularity of the book by both kids and adults, he was encouraged to expand on the story, so Lord of the Rings was born which caters to an older audience.
Glad that you both enjoyed the movie. The third one might even be more action packed. One of the scenes that was included in the extended was marry and pippin drinking special water and scenes in the forest. The best scene was definitely the Boromir scene 🎬

I was going to say the same thing. The movie is very different to the books in many ways and it had to leave a lot out and change many details to be a viable movie. It is a rather long read though.

Everything in these films works together to make it worth seeing over and over again. It works together because they the only trilogy to be greenlit as a trilogy. Other trilogies have one movie greenlit first and then the others greenlit afterward. It was insanity that someone was convinced to approve of three movies to be filmed back to back, with 3 years of pre-production and only after 3 years did filming start. (I found as one comment responding to the other and found it flowed together nicely. Found in a thread; they form a powerful statement. It’s truly a very special film! So much work went into this. I know many will vote “yes” to react to the behind the scenes film+documentary the cast and crew created together. Which in itself is a beautiful ride to embark upon. I love how the relationship between Gimli and Legolas blossoms from notorious enemies to brothers in arms; they share a horse (as an elf, Legolas weighs next to nothing) and have a friendly competition during battle. 😊 Also, did you know that the actor playing Gimli is also the voice of Treebeard, "Burarum."😎
One of the best friendships between elf and dwarf is Celebrimbor and Narvi. But the ultimate elf friend was Galadriel’s eldest brother Finrod Felagund! ❤ and discoverer of Men. And he was the first to witness mortality as his best friend died! one of the leaders of the three main houses of Men

So the elves, elves are immortal yes but you see they can die. But the way it works is they’d be (unless they’re being punished) remade in Valinor, the Undying Lands. When Valinor used to be part of earth then the elves could just return to earth if they needed to. At this point Valinor isn’t a part of middle earth so when the elves die they go to Valinor but they can’t return anymore

Philosophically speaking, the author also, artistically, explain with these books that history got worse and will continue to get worse. If you think of the crows from the first movie, they are spies in the sky. There are even spies of the waters, and even in the ground. JRR TOLKIEN was a good friend of two people: CS LEWIS (the man who wrote the Narnia books) and Christopher Lee (the man who played Saruman) and all three of them fought in the wars in both wars except Christopher Lee who only fought in the second war. They understood war, the sounds of fighting, and the mind of their enemies. And they understood Hell. But most of these things is to show what JRR Tolkien saw during war and how history is getting worse unless we do something.
One thing to take into account as well is Aragorn is older than the king. He knew the king when he was only a boy. So anytime you hear him trying to help or suggest anything to the king it's just out of experience not him trying to manipulate or gaslight or anything. He's just giving his best advice from experience and hoping you care enough.

I've absolutely loved watching these through with you. I grew up loving them and my house is covered in things from the books and the films; and to watch you both see them and enjoy them has been so endearing for me. I am so excited for you to watch the final film, but this one was always my favorite.
I do recommend not watching the Hobbit trilogy, to be honest. They're less than alright but not quite "bad" per se, but they definitely don't hold a candle to this trilogy.
"They should have threw a rock at him (Saruman)" YES, in the books the Ents threw boulders at his balconies. The Tower (Orthanc) was impenetrable, but otherwise the Ents destroyed everything.
But in the third film it gives an entirely different ending for him which is strange but still marvellous. Christopher Lee was furious the ending scene he did film ended up not getting into the theatrical cut. He vanished entirely from the story moviewise without it. Lol
Ents have a completely different perspective on the tempo and passage of time, being exceedingly long-lived compared to men and hobbits and dwarves. And Tolkien decided when he was creating them that that should be reflected in their speech and deliberations.
In the book Eowyn is younger than portrayed here, probably only about 16 or 17 years old, so her being in love with Aragorn is more akin to a crush and he’s just being kind and trying not to hurt her feelings.

great reaction yall, like the extra clips you put in there, seen these films so many times some surprises are cool and fun, 3rd film does get a bit long and they filmed the series mostly chronological for years in New Zealand so the actors begin to look weary and burnt out which lends to the length and intensity of all the battles, 3rd one has a few really cool fantasy style story surprises, looking forward to the next installment, take care, peace!

Maybe both y'all take a hand in it, but whoever does the editing in of those funny AF little things deserves a round of applause! Just one example of what I'm talking about 12:00-12:15. Poking fun at yourselves and allowing for comic relief during a sometimes dark (although unbelievably good) movie! I for one am digging it!

Just a quick word from your autistic ginger shield brother. I just finished the trilogy about a month ago, yet to see the extended versions tho. If only i had known.. Xd. I watched your guys' reaction to the fellowship when it popped in my reccomended and felt like i was right there watching it with y'all. You both have such a welcoming vibe and genuine reactions i find myself chiming in lol and the cuts to hit us with a charlie murphy had me rolling. Watched part 1 of the Two Towers vid and just finished watching part 2. Halfway through i checked to see when part 2 was posted cuz i wanted to see if you seen return of the king. What stood out the most while watching was the chemistry and bond you both share. Aside from your reactions the way you guys play off one another during certain scenes and feed on each others emotions during other scenes is so organic. It brought me some happiness to see y'all enjoying the trilogy, watching together as one. I suggest looking at a few of the detailed maps of middle earth on google. Gondor is far from Helms Deep. It’d take basically a week to even get there let along prepare and then another week or less to get back to Helms Deep. A lot of time transpired and Tolkien was gravest at showing the important minute details down to the very travel itself. Instead of suddenly being in one place to the other. ❤
If you get a chance, watch the Making Of videos that came with the DVD version of the movies. I found them nearly as enjoyable as the movies themselves. For example, The Battle of Helm's Deep took four months to film, mostly at night, mostly in the rain (natural or artificial). That's longer than most entire movies take to film. Viggo Mortensen apparently was as big a badass as Aragorn. At one point he took a sword-hilt in the mouth and broke one of his front teeth. He was running around the set trying to find some super glue to glue the tooth back together! Clearer heads prevailed, and he was shipped off to Peter Jackson's dentist to get the tooth repaired properly.

George R. R. Martin was a huge Lord of the Rings fan so a lot of Game of Thrones is inspired by the LOTR. Not just the battles but the habit George R. R. Martin has of killing off important characters early comes from Tolkien killing Gandalf in the fellowship of the ring when he fought the Balrog. Although George R. R. Martin has said he would of preferred it if Gandalf had of remained dead he has said that scene is what compels him to prematurely kill of main characters in his books
