Bridger from @TabletopTitans was in studio and wanted to play the big stompy robots. Tak obliged with the Adeptus Mechanicus and painted up the new Cerastus Knight Lancer for this bout.
These two factions are devastating to each other and we could see destruction at a scale we have not yet seen on 40k in 40m this season. 10th edition Imperial Knights versus Adeptus Mechanicus with allied Knight. 2,000 points. Lists below.

Admech also hitting on 4's with very rare rerolls makes the game swingy. Units have a 50% chance of doing nothing with their low accuracy low volume of fire weapons. Keep in mind admech got absolutely fucked by twinlinked, every lascannon in the army got its shots cut in half. And therefore their damage potential more than halved pared with the bad BS.

"Admech are really struggling right now" Last time they were on this channel they tabled Space Marines. This time they practically tabled knights (one of the strongest factions in the meta right now) in turn 1. Then tabled it in Turn 4, only losing because tabling isn't an autowin, and even then by only 3 points.

Just keep in mind the SM game had a pretty disproportionate amount of bad rolls for the SM player, and this one the Admech list was 100% focused on anti-vehicle

if admech go first they are brutal with the bonus AP, but a lot of their stuff feels expensive for its output and durability. they can definitely still work if the pieces come together, but they can also flub horribly and easily

@@cuboidham I agree, but Admech has always been the “High skill floor” faction, so its to be expected. Def need a points drop though. Maybe, say, 10 points on everything not a character with some units dropping a few points more?

To be fair they brought an Imperial Knight to be a door stop to stop the other group from being able to squish Admech, so I wouldn't call that so much Admech performance.

This will get lost in the void but the word onager is pronounced with a soft g. It has a real meaning too - it's a ancient Roman seige weapon. I love these 40k videos you all make so much, and I will continue to binge until there are none left, but every time you all say onager I twitch. (p.s. If this is some Warhammer lore thing then I stand corrected)

Appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Between the English language already being the way it is, and then mixing in people's dialects and accents, I know we can't be accurate for everyone. Then there is also the problem of being accurate, but not being the popularized way of saying something to an audience or region. It is an uphill battle but we always appreciate these suggestions.

Knights are like top 5 at best and admech are higher than several. Including LoV, Ta'u death guard. Admech players are just crying the most. But it would have been better if it was chaos knights a bit more balanced.

Why do people just buy into the flawed core gameplay concept of so much depending on who wins the first two rolls of the game for deployment and who goes first. The game would be immensely more balanced if they had simultaneous combat, or phased combat. The ancient horrible rule of EVERYONE on one side moves and fires and then EVERYONE on the other side moves and fires is NOT a good one. It's been like this since first edition and it feels like the only changes they've made have been to mitigate it by encouraging overstacking terrain or using tiny bandaids like Overwatch. Even Epic fixed this problem back in the 90s.

Depends on what sort of mission you are running, in "Only War" you can win by killing the opposing army rather than by points, points only come into play if both armies are still standing.

I am summarizing here but in Leviathan Chapter Approved Missions it is: End of Battle If a player no longer has any models remaining the other player may continue to play. Determine Winner Based on points.

There is a Core Rule Book Mission that nets you a win if you table your opponent. I think it works well as an option but not as a general rule because if two players decide they are okay with it and can have fun with it, great. I think what points based victories does for the game generally is mitigate certain hyper aggressive lists or play styles that may not be fun for an opponent.

In a Leviathan Chapter Approved Mission, which is what we played, it states that if a player no longer has models the other player can continue to play out the turns and when it comes to determining a winner it is based on points. There is a Core Rule Book mission where tabling your opponent results in a victory but I think that mission is geared towards being aggressive.

It's kind of funny that last week, I made a deck exactly like this but the orange paladin was replaced with a warden. Its a very versitile deck, and does well against most, except for the mechanicus.

This is an example of what I don't like about the rules and love about W40K. Tabling an opponent should be an automatic win, but playing for fun is the best thing. - I vote for both by the way, in my mind both Bridger and Tak won.

What I think and what I hope is good for the game when it comes to tabling and it not ensuring a victory is that people don't build lists that go out to just purely table their opponent and it mitigates a hyper aggressive play style that may not be fun to play against as an opponent. Narratively, I think it paints this picture of missions where you possibly eliminate all the threats but don't retrieve the data or mission objectives for that engagement.

I only have one of each character painted. In a previous game the Manipulus led the Breachers and also had the enhancement for Sustained and Lethal, and it was great but I felt Lethal on Destroyers would give them a chance to be effective. Also, the resiliency of the Feel No Pains in this game ensured I had more guns on the battlefield longer which proved to be deadly for things like the Vengeful Fallout stratagem.

Late reply here. The base coat is an orange that is still in development by Cuttlefish Colors which we got a sample for. Rumour has it this may be called Play On Orange. There shades were created with Vallejo Luna Yellow, Vallejo Hot Orange, and Vallejo Burnt Umber.

Only like 3 or 4 boxes and you have the whole model line (minus forgeworld stuff people won’t be playing outside of Apocalypse battles), especially if you magnetize

There is narrative and then there is the factions that the players enjoy playing and are familiar with the rules of. In this case both players were playing factions they like to play. We tried to put a bit of a narrative spin at the top of the episode.

Table to win is in some of the core rule book missions I believe but we predominantly play missions from the Leviathan Chapter Approved game mode. In there it says that the other player may continue to play if their opponent no longer has models and in the determine winner step it just says based on points.

There are certain missions in the core rule book where a tabling means a win. However, in Leviathan Chapter Approved Missions (which is what we played here) if a player no longer has models, the other player can continue to play their rounds. In the determine winner step of Chapter Approved Missions the winner is the player with the most points.

Can Adeptus Mechanicus do something well? Brings an Imperial Knight..... Another fine example of models shouldn't be removed before the end of round 1. Line of sight blockers also seem inadequate here. That Moonbreaker Ad just makes me sad for Warhammer/40k. This one was so close to a dislike if not for that castellan blowing himself up for the Pyrrhic Victory.

I don't even play WH40K, but I have been on a lore binge. I still find the lore and gameplay confusing. I think the knights and other mechs to be the coolest models but I have to say that my favorite matches to watch so far are actually the more tactical ones like the episode with the Black Templars vs the Genestealers. I would like to build a strike force sized army but would really want it to be lore accurate with the (surviving) member ranks and equipment. Maybe I shouldn't have picked the Salamanders as my favorite legion...

Hmm, maybe plasma destroyers aren't the right tool to use against knights? With the new grav gun they can put way more wounds through without risking their own lives. Surely plasma has more AP than grav, but since knights all have invulns to begin with, those extra AP don't seem to matter a lot.

Possibly. I only have one squad of Destroyers in my collection and they are equipped with plasma and I do like the volume of shots generally.
