You have been a great influence in my own development as a developer. You’ve provided a really important resource and perspective to the Film community. Keep teaching! I respect your family’s commitment to caregiving and wish you a prompt return to productivity. I’ll miss the room but keep your damn clothes on.
My deepest condolences! We are now dealing with my mother-in-law's decline, but from 340 miles away. I totally empathize. I only recently discovered this channel and have learned much. I'm trying to clear out and clean up a corner of the basement, but pray for a larger and bigger house (and closer to work!). Though saddened by your closing, I have a chance to watch and catch up. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
I would love to see videos of you building the darkroom. It's definitely something that is missing on this space (at least woth your level of detail etc.). Good luck, dont go away!
Absolutely take your time and get settled in before you build a new darkroom. Loosing a family member and moving are both hard, can’t imagine what it is like back-to-back. I wish you and your family the best in these trying times.
Condolence to your family. I print with an inkjet all the time. I scan and print. Because it to hot to be in my darkroom. Heal and build. Love see videos of the darkroom build process.
Just wanted to jump in and say what a help you've been to me. After years in a small city apartment I finally moved in somewhere I could start printing again, and you've been tremendously helpful figuring it all out. I'm also trying to digitize about 5 years worth of 35 mm film, and you've been a great help there aswell. Also, also I have just been given 7 new film cameras by a helpful neighbor, and your reviews for some of the cheaper 35mm b&w films have been great for testing. Shanghai gp3 (4$ from some Chinese vendors) has actually now become a mainstay for throw away street photography. Anyway I know how some of the smaller RU-vidrs just disappear one day and I'm hoping these crumbs of encouragement will keep you with us through the cold winter months. Cheers.
Thank you for everythingl you have done even with the problems you had. This is the best informative/teaching photography channel on the tube and you will be missed but take your time to settle down and looking forward to that building a darkroom serie because I will also have to move and start from scratch. Cheers.
My deepest condolences! May she have peace in Heaven. You are one of the most excellent and most technical teachers on the internet. I have learned a great deal from your videos and looking forwards to watching more of them. Best wishes from Uzbekistan.
You've taught me a lot, I went to a darkroom workshop for the first time and already knew half the stuff I needed which made me save time and ultimately have more fun. So thank you and my sincere condolences to your family. Hope the move goes well and can't wait for the new darkroom.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss, it's always hard to lose someone close. I know how long it can take after moving, to get around to building a darkroom, although for me and possibly for you it's a high priority, in reality it's not, and so many other things need dealing with first. After 18 months in our new home, the space that will be my darkroom is still a storage space for things 'that will be dealt with later!' Good luck with everything
Sincere condolances to you and your family sir. I hope your channel continues in any form as you have so much knowledge and thanks for passing that on.
My sincere condolences to you and your family. Quite remarkable that you've been able to keep up such a pace in publishing YT-Videos. Keep up the great work and doing a session on how to build a darkroom from scratch is a great idea.
Thanks for all the sharing from your darkroom through the years Greg - so helpful and professional. Best wishes to you and yours on the life and darkroom transition and I know that additional content when you are ready will be very much worth the wait!
Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother-in-law. Here is to hoping things get better for you and your family. I look forward to new videos as you may be able to post them. And thank you for all the great content, knowledge and humour. All the best.
Hi, ever since I discovered your channel I have been following every video here. I found ALL of them very informative and well done, even if -as an old amateur- I don't always understand the more technical stuff (densitometry etc.) and even although I no longer have a darkroom. So, I herewith present my condolences to you and your family and I am looking forward to more videos and the build of the new darkroom. Thanks and all the best!
Thanks for your excellent videos which I constantly refer back to. They are so precise and clear I use them as a technical guide, and classroom. Your presentation style is amiable and informative - your students are lucky to have you. I say this as a former photography teacher myself. Thanks again from Melbourne, Australia.
Sincere condolences. I am very pleased that you have the intention to build a new darkroom. Perhaps you could continue to entertain us with outside photo taking whilst we wait.
Sounds like tough times. Well, I'm sure you're going to take care of everyone at home and if down the road it looks like you can make more videos...then great for us. No one else on the internet does this craft like you these days. Thanks again! God Bless. -Rob
You have been a consistent place of support and advice throughout my years of film photography and printing. Thanks for everything, and I look forward to the future!
Condolences to you and your family, totally understand so take your time, be kind to yourself and we all wait for your return when you are ready to do so
I am so sorry for your loss and all you have been through . Thank you for all you give to us viewers, your knowledge is incredible and appreciate you sharing that with us!! See you on the flip side for sure!!!
Very sorry for your loss. :( If you do get the video-making bug while setting up your new darkroom, whenever that should be able to happen, I'm sure many of us would love to learn from you as you go through the process of planning and setting it up. I know I would! We moved to a new house last year that has space that will one day become a darkroom, but there are many projects to take care of before that happens. Seeing someone who really knows what he's doing go through that process would be a big help. Best of luck with all of the changes, and thank you for all I have learned from you already.
Sincerest condolences to you and your family. Best wishes for the future and good luck with all your endeavours for the channel. As a film photographer that only used B&W I have enjoyed your instructions on photo processing with colour.
So terribly sorry for your loss. I look forward to watching whatever videos you make and will rewatch the catalogue as I continue to learn the craft. I look forward to see what’s next!
Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law, but understandable on the move. I just found your channel recently and have been enjoying your videos as someone new to darkroom printing and film developing. Hopefully I will be buying/building my first house next year-ish (assuming interest rates don't keep skyrocketing..), and one of my requirements is to have either a large garage, detached workshop, or enough room to build one -- ideally so that part of that space could become a darkroom. So will def be looking forward to see what you build. Anyway, best of luck!
I am very sorry to hear about your loss. And I can understand the difficulties. But I want to emphasize how extremely helpful you have been for my darkroom work! So I really hope you will be able to go back to the heart of analog work! And I want to thank you for very valuable information you provided the community with! Hope to see you again "in the dark"!
You've been a darkroom inspiration from the very start and hope everything works out. I'm sure she's looking down and proud of all your achievements here and with your family.
Sorry to learn about the sad news about your family. I have learnt so much from your channel, I look forward to seeing your new darkroom, whenever that may be.
condolences, i always felt it was an honour to be part of end of life. such a huge foundation in this living business.Momentous times in the book of life. I want to say i am really excited to see how the channel progresses and so glad we will be able to go on this journey with you. thanks for sharing and goodbye trusty dark room. good luck with the move and looking forward to the next chapter
I'm sorry for the sad things that have passed and am glad for the personal and family opportunities also. But for us, who watch, good things are worth waiting for. As someone who has not wet printed in 40 years I still love your channel. I live in a small flat with zero darkroom space so I develop and scan but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing you do it 🙂Thank you for your methodical and scientific approach to everything you do.
Sorry for your mother-in-law. Life goes on. Seeing you build a new darkroom certainly will be a VERY interesting experience and I am sure all of us will benefit from ypur vision and knowledge and, certainly, will add many olutions and ideas to ours. Thank you very much for all your work dedicated to sharing your knowledge, very helpful always and a point of reference for us, I'm sure. More important than the darkroom is our lives. You're in a time for changes. Dedicate your time to it first, then some to us when possible. We'll be here, no need to worry :) My best!
Sorry for your family loss. And a deep thank you for the lessons learnt from your darkroom so far. I hope you and your family settle nicely in the house. We'll be there waiting, no pressure, life comes first.
I find it amazing that you have been able to do anything this last year. So sorry for your loss. Appreciate what you have done over the years and certainly have earned a little brake and look forward to your new darkroom whenever that happens.
Thursday marks the first anniversary of my father's death. Although it still hurts, the good memories grow stronger with time. I wish you and your family a lot of strength during this time. My heartfelt condolences and many greetings from Switzerland.
Sorry for your loss. :( My sincere condolences to you and your family. I probably have been following this channel for most of the five years and I am looking forward to your new content. I moved last year and still wasn't able to build my new darkroom in my windowless bathroom. Which is pretty small and lacks a lot of the convenient stuff you had in yours. Wish you the best.
Thanks for all the knowledge you have shared with us, much appreciated, hope your new darkroom will come back soon, and best of wishes to you and your family.
My condolences to you, your wife and kids. My own very dear mother-in-law passed away in the midst of *_the big lockup_* so I can empathyze totally. Looking forward to your videos on your daarkroom project but also your hybrid work which I'm sure will keep you busy.
You're metaphorically not going anywhere and so neither am I. I've only been along for part of the journey but have learned so much. Thank you. Sorry to hear about your personal loss, being human is hard sometimes.
Condolences to you and your family. And thanks for many inspiring and funny videos on this channel! Good luck with everything you're going through. Greetings from Oslo, Norway
Hello Greg. First my condolences to you and your family regarding the death of your mother inlaw. How nice she left her house to you, I understand you now haven ample space to live in and also building a new darkroom. Thanks for all the educating video's, you have a verry rare channel since there are only few serious B&W workers. Whow, you are a professor in photograpy (!) I did not knew that. It would be nice to see a ongoing transition from you moving from the present darkroom to the next one to build (idea ?) Thank you and love to see you back soon.
Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge with us. Learning the artform did a lot for me and at a time when I really, really needed the outlet. I have some beautiful handmade prints I'm proud of.
So sorry for your loss. I have been a silent follower of yours for three years or so. I hope your life and process develops smoothly and I look forward to seeing you in your new space soon. Be well!
Please accept my condolences for your loss. To be honest, you are one of the three video bloggers that I really respect and enjoy. I don't have a darkroom but I used to many years ago but everything about your channel was absolutely sound and evidenced based and not driven by keeping up with the current fads. I am glad that you will continue to make videos and I know you will keep that very fine De Vere Enlarger (I am so jealous). I will look forward to watching your new darkroom build, may even have a go at doing it myself learning from you as I go. The very kindest of regards. David
First my condolences and i wish your family well. Take all the time you need building the darkroom you need and I for one look forward to your new videos.
dear gregory... what a sad news. i always loved your videos so much. it was just great to watch you and learn from you. you have such a wonderful way. you are such a pleasant person. i want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. i really hope that you will be able to set up a darkroom again someday. that would be so important to carry on this craft...this art. there is so much to learn from you. please keep going. i send you a hug unknown from berlin (germany) to you. all the best gerrit
I’m so sorry for your loss sir. I too lost someone just a few weeks ago. Time is the only true currency we have. Take all the time you need. Your content has been extremely helpful and I wish you the best.
Greg, I'm so sorry to hear of your and your family's loss. Express my condolences to your wife. I've enjoyed your videos a great deal. Good luck on the move and looking forward to the new darkroom. I'm in the process of doing the same. Best of luck and I'm sorry for your loss.
My mother passed away in December 2022. I imagine how you are passing time all these days. Home seeing you in a new dark room in a future. Thank you for your adventure in this project.
I'm very sorry for your loss. Best of luck with your personal and family projects. Thank you so much for all your existing content and I look forward any new endeavour you share here.
I wanna say thank you. I learned so much from your channel. You can't imagine how much. You are a generous person, like real experts usually are. Would you happen to know about St Peter? He taught fishing to every hungry person so they'll never feel hungry again. Hope to see you soon, maybe in the field or building the new dark room.
deepest condolences Gregor! We really appreciate all you have done for the community, wish you a quick transition into your new house and will be looking forward to seeing your next video. I´ll be missing your darkroom. THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for the ride and best of luck with the new project. I am in the same place of looking for the space to build mine, so looking forward to your progress reports. I have learned a lot from your videos and hopefully we both get back up and running soon. Bon voyage
