So many businesses not even doing the basic stuff! RANT! 

I live just move to Alexander city about a year ago and I have been in awe at the lack of customer service in the area. I'm huge on using local businesses but can't believe how they stay in business. You hit the nail on the head.

It's crazy.... I get complemented all the time, from my clients because no one takes pride in their work anymore. Aparrently, being professional and making sure you focus on customer service, is not commonplace anymore... It's sad and at the same time the silver lining is that, we stand out! I'm with ya though, Coty... It's super frustrating, dealing with so-called "businesses" who seem to have no clue and seem to not want your business 🙄

Customer service Cody? I was one of those people calling with no answer. Cody called me personally to help me with my problem. That’s customer service! I will always buy from Cody! You are a rock star ⭐️ dude! Thank you! Thank you for the great training videos!

I hear this all the time and I think it has gotten even worse since you posted this video. People always act so surprised to have someone come out and do work on time when you say youre going to and they tell me all their stories of people who schedule work and never do it or they take waaay longer than they should. Although this did make me think I should monitor my emails better because I dont check them often enough. Most people dont contact me that way but I would hate to miss out if they did.

I also want to make sure you are aware that Jonathan should teach businesses customer service classes... that guy is gold!

HAHAHA. I am a Rockstar because I can answer my phone. And you said it at the end. Marking the email unread till you have made an action. That is pivotal. We live near Seattle. And my business is exploding because I always provide a quote or refer them to someone.

Same stuff here in Harrisburg PA. Sometimes times it sound like I'm bothering them to do there Jobs!

Its like that here in ATL. I need fencing, doors, soffit work done. They come out but no one calls back with a quote. Maybe because theres so much high-dollar building jobs going on right now. Some contractors will tell you they are backed up with jobs for months. I just end up doing it myself.

Coty, I had a garage door business for over twenty years, I can't tell you how many times the customer told me I was the only one that returned their call. Sad, but many people who want to be in business for themselves have no idea how to run a business.

Yes, I have experienced this with painting contractors for my house. They say they will come by to give me an estimate, and never show up. No return calls of emails. These are well established painting contractors in my area. I guess they don’t want my money… I don’t get it.

Same in Scotland… just getting a contractor to answer the phone is a miracle. Then getting them to actually follow through with a quote… then come when they say they will… then not wreck your property… everyone I know has the same experience…. Time after time

Nope you're not alone. Heck we can't even get a landscaper to even just do maintenance cleans on our house. It's been 3 months now, had 1 finally come got five cutting and just walked off leaving everything just laying around. We had another doing a neighbor's that my wife literally was waving cash saying just name it and we'll pay it, yep they just walked away and never responded again. Not to mention trying to get vinyl done on our new van and goodness that is starting to make my blood boil.

Showing up is not supposed to be a super power, but here we are. I won’t refer anyone unless I know they’re going to show up and follow through.

I get customers thanking me for returning their calls. That's crazy that the expectations have dropped that low.

I'm being told a couple times a week thank you for showing up because so many just don't. I also have been looking for a fence company that will actually show up to do the job. It's crazy.

Unfortunately for us, we are harder to reach with our other business. It’s to the point that the amount of volume coming in is harmful to us. We have already dropped two categories of our other business that brought in good money, however we can’t find the staff to cover it with call volume and business volume. We waste soo much time just responding to calls and a lot of it we can’t handle. People waiting until the last minute with I want it, and I want it now. We are paying 20.00 an hour right now for staff for easy work and compensating for their gas as well. We have sooo many more calls coming in that we cannot handle it. I feel bad but we physically can’t handle it. We spend hours going through calls and texts and unfortunately we cannot automate it because they are requests we have To approve based on staffing that day. I feel like there is a boost because of stimulus money right now. People have the stimulus money. Others are being paid to stay home with unemployment. Small business owners are taking the workload into themselves. We are used to working morning, day, and night, literally 7 days a week but it’s still not enough. Even with chopping out other parts of our business to try and handle and keep up with everything, we are still behind and it’s still not enough. Such weird times we are going through. I wonder if it will chill by next year.

I feel you, I have had numerous experiences like this lately... How do they stay open?! We do have a big issue with turnover and quality employees... but man it has been terrible now...

It blows my mind when an owner has an attitude,no people skills,horrible management,and still stays in business. It happens where I am at everyday.

I feel you man, it is really funny. I was thinking the same thing when this happened to me several times. I was like is it me having problem or the other people.

I am told over and over again that I am the only one that answered the phone.

Now it makes sense why I get compliments and reviews for returning calls, showing up, and even basic communication. I'm just thinking "doesn't everybody do that?"

I hear this all the time. “Wow I can’t believe you showed up, on time AND gave us a quote!” I’m like who the hell is not answering their phone when money is calling?

I see people complain several times a week on local Facebook pages down here where I live in Florida about not being able to get contractors to return calls, or they will come and give an estimate and then never call back to schedule the job

@southeast - Cody ,... check this , this is VERY common. I can tell you its most likely they are overwhelmed. They have reached a level capacity they cant even run normal productions. Here in the Bay Area - my line of work no one responds or answer customer phone calls. Overwhelmed or can not get to it. Like you said tho, those that will stand out the most that have this basic stuff down in regards to basic customer service and customer retention/ satisfaction.

There is a shortage of workers.. The pay and risk if Corona has them refusing to work.

We have the same problem in Iowa!! No one shows up or returns your phone call. All you have to do is communicate, show up, and do quality work and you will be successful!! And just those 3 basic principles seem to be too difficult for a lot of businesses. We’ve stuck to those 3 basics and have doubled our business in the past 2.5yrs. Thx for the rant😎👊🏼

Maybe some of these businesses are struggling with man power, lots of people not wanting to work with all of the gov. Hand outs. Maybe they want the business but can’t deliver. Just a thought

I live in a small town and from my experience the smaller the town the worst the service I go out of town for everything or order online and that saves me the headache and time

Alot of company dont have help .so they afraid of taking on big jobs.most are looking for the small jobs and quick money

Dude, I feel you. I go through this very frequently. It seems to be hard to find quality businesses and people these days. Also I love the channel. I just quit my job about 2 weeks ago. I just a Honda belt driven machine , a BE 20 inch surface cleaner, hoses, and ball valve. I plan on using you and your videos as my business model.

It’s been that way for a few years now. Sad thing is those companies and those minimum wage employees/society has no customer service whatsoever. Therefore pay attention there jobs are being replaced by robots etc.

Meanwhile I wish my phone to ring for my gutter cleaning business. I have to result to door knocking which puts everyone in a bad mood lol.

It’s wild man. A lady the other day was so appreciative for just communicating & being kind. Simple stuff can go a long ways

I’ve run into this so much! I think the “pandemic” has given lazy people an excuse to be lazier. This is where companies who excel in customer service will make a name for themselves. I plan on being one of those companies

I constantly get praise usually just for showing up when I say I will show up or for returning a call if I missed their first call.

It’s that way everywhere. I’m in Maryland and I can’t give my money away. I have to chase people down...

Business is thriving cause it’s geared on exceptional customer service. Every example you gave, is happening here as well. It’s everywhere you look. Shockingly, most customers are already impressed just by showing up when you say you’ll be there. It’s sad, but those who care about doing legit business are winning because of it.

It's crazy to be honest I live in southwest Missouri and it's the same story here I've done business all over the country and it's almost like some areas are horrible but others especially where competition is high you would have called and within a few hours or the next day someone would be there to give you a quote and a few hours a follow up call to get you scheduled or get a deposit some areas are just run by mom and pops and they just don't have the professional approach they might as well be running a bait shop down by the lake

I can’t speak for Pizza Hut but a lot of businesses Do not have employees to keep up with what they have .

Man I’m starting my pressure wash business in a new area on the coast where we moved to and I was worried about getting business but I swear I think if I just do the basis and offer a good service and answer calls and treat the customer like I appreciate them, I shouldn’t have no problems getting business. I’m with ya Cody, I have no clues how some of these business actually do business. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Dude I'm using a Northstar soft wash system and a 4 GPM pressure washer to run my business right now. My next three jobs are all people who have called other pressure washers that never showed up or never called back.

Yep. Can’t figure it out at all. I have learned not to chase businesses that seem uninterested in my business because that’s just the beginning of having to run after them...

Yet there’s so many of us who would LOVE to do business with even more people, it’s ridiculous the amount of times I’ve heard “thanks for actually showing up when you said you were going to”

Service from “service” businesses has, for the most part, truly gone down hill in the last year. Then there are the big box and chain stores. Unbelievable how bad these businesses are being run today.

I have been having the same problem this year… seems to be a 2021 thing for whatever reason, no one cares about service. I make a point to drop what i an doing to answer the phone and have my voicemail set up to catch the few I just cant get to. I am actually going to hire an answering service due to call volume. My customers tell me they have a hard time getting other cleaning contractors in my area to even give a quote… blows their mind when I give them one over the phone looking at google earth! I have a feeling i will be in touch this fall to order another cleaning rig from you all, love the skid i got in march!! Business is booming for me because just like you said i do the normal little things and look like a rock star!

Everything you mentioned in this video is something I hear from customers all the time, and yes it is annoying,other business arnt about customer service they don't get it. I always have a one up on them becuase I'm all about customer service. Its simple really.. We work in the customer service industry and we just so happen to do pressure washing to.

I think it's because these companies had to hire Millennials Millennials ain't worth a darn!

Lots of Businesses get free assistance they don’t speak of just as well as private individuals.

i had same trouble with a welders shop went there asked to get some medal handles made we agreed on price and how long they said pay when its ready i was like great they said be easy to make and will be ready within week a month and half later they call me and i went there to pick up the handles and they made them wrong lolololol when i called them before they were done i ask are they done yet they say havent got to them yet be any day now lol

Pizza hut is the worst pizza period!

I have hired an answering service. Probably has gotten me 20 jobs this year because I capture the information, they spoke with someone courteous and I follow up with the customer when I get the first opportunity.

They are not you / us. They will learn or go out of business.

This is no joke, this country has got off track so bad since the Pandemic started. It's like the wheels have came off the track. I actually do roofing and some roof washing jobs but it takes 100 hours to get done what we did before this thing in 45. Just like the place your eating at, the wheels are totally off the track and your the one paying for it with your time. You can't have this many people not working or not producing but still spending or it throws everything off track. People like you and me are pulling the dead weight of the one's who won't produce and your ranting just like me over it.
