I was trained at Clinique to teach our clients how to mix products with their fingers. You mix them in the palm of your hand because that is the warmest part of your hand. When you apply product with your fingers it is the WARMTH of your fingers that help the product apply to your skin. That fingerprint thing is a gimmick. (It grosses me out too) lol
That was my thinking - the point of applying makeup/foundation/cream blush with your fingers is that the skin temperature makes it 'melt' nicer? I think the lines do nothing.
I’m waiting to see the Winter palette, specifically, from Sydney Grace, but Spring is quite pretty. Also I’m still not sure if the formula works well on me. I *feel* like it creases worse than other formulas (I always wear primer), but I need to test again. I’m not getting the ND mini, either, mostly because three of the shades are in Retro, which I have and love.
The real techniques sponge is a pass for me. Ensley reign has beautiful palettes but the shipping is so expensive $15.86 is the cheapest and it arrives in 2 weeks. Maybe i’ll try the smashbox palettes, love the color story. ❤
Wow! Good for Smashbox. Most interesting launch I have seen from them in a long time. In fact, I didn't even realize they were still around. Not sure I would pay $39.00 for them because I have SO many eyeshadow palettes but this is a GREAT launch for them. The Stained Glass palette is gorgeous! The finger sponge thingee....no. It gives me the jeebies too. I'll be interested to see some reviews on it.
I feel like using your fingers to apply makeup actually has to do with the warmth of your hands so I don’t see that sponge working either. I have several Klarity palettes. I really like them but I will say there are different formulas in different palettes. So some are good and some are really good. The new one looks really pretty.
Thankfully, the Unearthly Cosmetics Mystery Box will also be available in Europe via Monolith Shop. I can't wait to see what's inside before I make up my mind about picking it up. Purple is my favourite colour for make-up and I use the Ultraviolet palette by BBB almost daily, so it's up my alley
The Unearthly mystery box looks so good, i have watched the spoilers because i like to know what I'm getting, and the palette is gorgeous 😍 u'll love it. Ensley reign palettes look beautiful, i like flutter, but i don't know yet. I'm not picking up the ND mini either, i have Retro, so i don't need it.
I’m buying the flutter palette! Ensley Reign has become a top brand for me this year… my first palette from them was Cold Moon and Flutter will be my 4th.
Oh 😊❤very intrigued by the Smashbox. The color stories look so pretty to wear in fall. I really like the size /layout and I do have a thing for 8 pans. I'm picky now too. I don't buy palettes if I don't like every single colour or can see that I'm missing shades to do a full look on my fair skin, or don't like the palette size. That usually excludes a lot of palettes. I own a couple of Smashbox old palettes and I actually really loved the mattes. So I'm happy to see this
I really like the fact that SG is releasing 9 pan palettes, the spring one is nice but too warm for me. The summer one has been revealed and it's quite pretty, I am sort of interested but not sure, I certainly don't need it but it seems different than the usual color stories that SG does. I am anxious to see the other two, especially the winter one. Hopefully they will reveal over the weekend. Good video.
I can honestly see the appeal of the RT Sponge. A lot of people don't like using their fingers to apply makeup, but perhaps would like the effect... however they are missing the most important aspect of fingertip application: warmth. LoL I think it looks interesting and the next time I go to Ulta or Walmart I will scope it out. I am a brush girly but I don't like using my fingertips, because my skin is so rough because of my job. I am a bartender/server and my hands are constantly in warm, soapy or bleach water. Not great for your moisture barrier that's for sure lol Anyways, love these weekly videos of yours! New makeup release videos are my most favorite type of video to watch on makeup RU-vid. I recently got into indie nail polish and I REALLY REALLY wish onw of the content creators would start doing a weekly launch roundup because there are just so many nail polish brands and there is always a launch!
Hi Rachel. The Smash box palettes do look nice. The Ravie Beauty lip balms are so pretty. I have the color Lily. The new releases are a bit too bright for me. Sydney Grace's shadows are always gorgeous. I just ordered the Natasha Denona mini Rose palette. I had a gift card to Sephora, so I ordered it today. I agree. The sponge looks weird. I'll stick with my Paw Paw sponges that need to he dampen. Thanks, Rachel. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 💖🩷
I have been hoping for years that Smashbox would try to formulate an eyeshadow formula that could compete with what's on the market. I've been disappointed so many times by their eyeshadow. I love almost everything else they do, eyeshadow not so much. I had a big face palette from them like 15 years ago and I used all the face products on my eyes and I remember being like, how is their face palette bronzer better than their eyeshadow??
I love their _always on_ cream shadows. It’s no lie it’s always on, root canal, working outside in the heat humidity etc. I love mixing the colors together and with Sydney Graces creams.
I use the huda cherry 🍒 blossom 🌸 loose powder and the lys pressed setting powder. I love lys cream blush. I think lys is fantastic! Natasha Denona strip pink shadows are unnecessary if you have the huda beauty rose 🌹 quartz palette 🎨! ❤ I love your channel 🎉❤
After spending $60-$88 on Ensleys larger palettes, I'm not keen on spending $50 & $55 on small palettes. I figured there would be more of a price drop on way smaller palettes. So that's a pass for me. Unearthly is pretty pricey for their 9 and 12 pans so they are a pass. I want to grab the Smashbox Earthly palette. Other than that I think I'm just burnt out on the indie overpricing. And the more popular they get the more they cost. It's made me less of a die hard fan. At least for now.
Uh, I'm interested in the SG 9 pans, though the first one is not my color story. And yeah that finger sponge is an abomination. With the blood red horror movie coloring, too, makes it look like a skinned animal. Some neon coloring might have put it from creepy weird to fun weird but now it's just creepy.
So many great items! I am trying to halt buying right now. I have done big Sephora order, waiting still for coastal, bought high temp and leather and lace unearthly feel in love with the brand and well things happened and now I have a lot of palettes to try. I bought other items too. If I can suggest something it's Blessed palette from SG. I might still buy from the sale not sure. Thank you
I had a horrible experience when I ordered the So Mermaizing palette from Klarity when they launched it. Maine shades came broken and when I reached out to the brand, I was told I’d receive replacement shades. The owner then filed a claim with the post office and USPS sent me a letter asking me to take the damaged item to them along with the packaging. USPS ended up keeping the palette while the investigation was active. I received the replacement shades from Klarity, but I didn’t have the palette, I was in constant communication with the owner. After 6 months , I reached back out to her because I still didn’t have the palette back from USPS, she eventually refunded me, but then blocked me on Instagram. Since she blocked me, I figure she doesn’t want my money, therefore I will NEVER shop from the brand…
I saw that makeup sponge. I don't believe it 😂 😭 I need to see a review 😅 I would think that using your finger the heat from your body makes it work ?? LoL 🤣 .... I love Jordie & Likely makeup
Yeah, that Real Techniques sponge is weird looking and the concept is just as weird!😂 I shouldn’t judge it without trying it or even seeing it in person, but I feel the same way you do…It’s not the fingerprints that make fingers such a good way to blend. It’s the texture of our skin, the oils and the fact that you can actually feel what you’re doing!😂
I mean.... I feel like I could just use my fingers instead of buying that awkward RT sponge. To be honest, I'm a fingers application girlie, sue me. But I use mostly CC and BB creams. I will go over my foundation with my blender. I save my brushes for powder products. 🤷🏻♀️ 2016 me would be so disappointed.
Oh my goodness gracious sakes 😳. An applicator to make your foundation look like you applied it with your fingers 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. The company who produced this product must believe that the beauty community is brainless. “God bless their hearts” (said with a sugar sweet Southern accent) 😂😂😂😂😂. Those of us living in Alabama and Georgia (possibly other Southern states too, but idk for sure) know exactly what that really means. Maybe you know too Rachel. FL is neighbors with both 😁. Wishing you, your hubs and the fur babies a fantabulous week ahead❣️
For anyone who it concerns, Ensley Reign uses AI to create the art for their products. I personally don't want to support that. It's such a shame because the color stories look amazing. I didn't know until recently, so I just wanted to make sure anyone who is bothered by the selling of AI art, knows before they make a purchase.
This one there is apparently an actual artist and she used ai to change colors is all. If an artist uses ai to color their own art I don’t see a problem with that.
@@omegasobsessions I recommend you watch Steven Zapata's TED talk about AI-generated art. It's free here on youtube. It is unfortunately never as simple as using AI just to change this or that about a piece of art. Those color stories, the method of shading, the style of coloring is all taken from somewhere. To my displeasure, that somewhere is other artists who will never be credited or compensated for the hundreds of hours they've put into developing their skills in color theory, line work, styles, etc.
