They were once thriving and unique and the people who knew these places could tell you many interesting stories of the ruins' lost past.

I came here 9 years ago from California. When I worked in the LA Unified school district, there was a map of the states with stats. One that i noticed was that Kansas was the state with the least amount of money going through it. I guess it hasn't changed. So many abandoned and boarded up buildings and very little city care of the appearance of streets & buildings, lack of sidewalks, and renting is a dreadful endeavor due to lack of property management attention and response. Some rental houses are death traps, and the owners don't have to care.

I LIVE IN TOPEKA KANSAS AND YES WE HAVE HAD A FEW ABANDON BUILDING many of which have since been town down so while no city or town is perfect we are making lots of progress on tearing down unused abandoned buildings don't let this make you think we are slum town and our downtown is growing new restaurants and a hotel

Good soundtrack....bad buildings. Invites crime and vandalism. Of course squatters and the likelihood of ignition of the structures ablaze.🔥 Sad really but reality in this city.

Mom they both closed when Walmart came to town. And all the thieves that stole from them I mean look at their locations. Low income, With people who don't give a snotrag about what it does.

It is a big fancy Mexican grocery store now. Wonderful grocery store. It is call El Torito. @gus dose, he didn't show you that place recently because it has been in use for the last 1.5 years - the restaurant has been open for around that long, and the grocery store has been open for a shorter time. Gotta love a Dad that takes a kid for "deprivation tourism" excursions. Sounds a little "ghetto" to me - monied gentry take "real" vacations.

The gas station at the 2:10 mark is actually on the Cross Bronx Expressway.

Odd, because I eat at a little cafe right next to that place. Not only is it in use, it is in Topeka. Kinda cool that it's "actually" somewhere else.

Still Topeka is a beautiful City...yes a few closed buildings...But very pretty ,ITS THE CRIME THAT MARS TOPEKA...TOPEKA ISN'T RUN DOWN TO ME...THE CRIMES IS HORRIBLE, BUT PRETTY CITY...🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽🖐🏽
