But it's when they actually join for real, so the chapter named "The Second" isn't until after Arlong Park, and there was never one like that for Usopp... until now. So Oda apparently had this character arc for Usopp planned from the very beginning.

The moment when Shanks and Whitebeard clash is iconic, being Shanks my favorite character in One Piece I'm overly excited every time I see him. His faith in Luffy, his powers, his intelligence ... everything. Robin is finally safe with a family that loves her, and everyone is back together to sail to the next island. "Will of D" - We can't speak to this, and what it may or may not mean. For that would be spoilers (and as of current ch. 1076 - we still don't know the full story) 'Blackbeard isn't related to Luffy I'm assuming...' - just because they have the same middle name doesn't mean anything. Obviously Monkey D Luffy, Dragon, and Garp are Blood Family since they share the same Family name "Monkey" For... Additional Reading, on Will of D consider Drum Island, Chopper and Hiriluk "When does a person die..." and then see this in relation to How many people have already referred to Luffy being "Like Rodger" in some way shape and form which you've have had several references already to this factor. Funny Note on Chopper's Bounty; Merch. Due to some historical and fictional shifts a Chopper Plush Price TENDS TO BE reflective of his Bounty give or take. (Obviously, Post-Lobby was 2006, so 14 years ago. And a Chopper Plush was 500 Yen, or ~$5 USD of the day. That same plush now a days goes for $30. Not to mention... SPOILERS that I can't speak to.) I feel like Water 7 is like the watershed for the series, everything is really good before it, but it’s a big step up once you get to it.

Garp enters just like Luffy did in Arlong Park, busting through a wall instead of using the door. Making an entrance must be a family trait. Luffy's daddy also had a dramatic introduction in Loguetown.

Holy heck, I never caught on Coby/Lucci showing off the two sides of the Navy and Luffy still not showing Coby any malice just because he joined the Navy, instead he actually encouraged him to go and reach the rank of Admiral. I LOVE the subtleties of Odas work.

This is so rewarding since Chapter 439 is titled The third one & the seventh one, officially making Usopp and Franky's induction to the crew. ODA also did this with Nami, Zoro, Sanji, etc.

I think (and this is just an opinion, I'm almost as much in the dark as you are. We do have a few more elements but this is very vague theorizing even for someone caught up to the manga) that Shanks was not actually motivated by Luffy's heritage at all. He absolutely knew about part of it (I mean "D"s are rare and Garp is famous for fighting against Gol D Roger. Not only is Shanks an active pirate and Garp a high ranked active marine, but Shanks was on Roger's ship so he's known Garp for most of his life. No way he didn't at least suspect a kid named "Monkey D. Luffy" was related to him and as a powerful pirate, he could probably have checked if he wanted to. The Dragon connection though, he probably didn't know although I have no definitive proof of that. Dragon hides his name and doesn't seem to have close ties with any pirate so even for an Emperor of the Sea that would be tough to find out. There are hints that to me indicate that Shanks was not seeking a powerful heritage in Luffy, at least not in that sense.

12:21 A little before the crew meets Aokiji in Long Ring Long Land, we see him on his way, and he says something like "Not one decent man in the entire family" (chapter 303 I believe). Well, now we have the full picture. Garp, who is not a decent person according to Aokiji, Luffy's grandfather, and Dragon, but it's more obvious why an Marine Admiral won't consider him nice

once you know what haki is, i suggest you do a re-read :) the pages are like magic, everything changes :P

And don't forget it's the same wood that was used for Gold Roger's ship! And that he used the money he stole from the straw hats to buy it lol.

I want to say that it's not safe to assume we have the answers for some of the things you might have been speculating. We might, but we might not as well. Oda is very good at keeping secrets and/or revealing certain things on a slow, nuanced and layered way. I love your theories, seeing your insights kinda get us thinking too!

20:00 The New World is part of the Grand Line. The world of One Piece is divided in 4, through 2 major lines: The Grand Line + the Calm Belts on the X axis, which is impossible (for most people) to cross, and on the Y axis, the Red Line, the one continent in the planet. The Red Line also parts the Grand Line in 2 halves. When you climb Reverse Mountain you enter the first one, where we are right now (and will later be given a name). The second half, when you cross the Red Line again, is the New World.

Hoda says chopper have low bounty because the navy doesn't want to be ripped off by bounty hunters and people who want the bounty will bring back reindeer every day. so they prefer to keep the bounty low, anyway chopper is not the priority among the mugiwara

Its normal that you're fixated in the will of D, its a mayor plot mistery(still) and about not being the same family who knows, there's a lot of desendants of giants to say that for example saul is not related to luffy, but i think more like if there's some parentage its really really farfetched and definitely not close family, there aren't good reasons to think is a family thing, its just that i think is not impossible that maybe all are descendants of the same lineage

Did you know back when Luffy's first wanted poster was published, Usopp "claims" that he is being included in the wanted poster. Luffy's first bounty was 30 Mil, and so does Usopp now.

This review was great. You're gonna hate the next arc though. It's very toned down and mostly comedy. It's meant to be a pallet cleanser for all the high stakes emotions of Enies Lobby. So don't take it seriously. Nothing Happens in Thriller Bark.
